He doesn't need to say he's gay (though he did in the speech, abstractly, referring to "us" and "our people"). At the end of the day, whether he is, or not, is irrelevant. Interviewers don't harass straights to admit they're straight, so why harass gays (or those perceived/believed to be gay). He's not 'in the closet' he's not in 'denial' it just DOESN'T MATTER.
