  • AWESOME post thank you so very much.

  • Well, this is it everyone. This is what the "free market" we all thought was so cool was always destined to bring instead. I hope you all feel very proud of yourselves.

  • Not really "Corporations" BUT oligarchs, people who want to feast on the flesh of the people. Under christian economics, people produce organically for themselves and the workers get their fair share of the profits. Under oligarchy, these cynical oligarchs redistribute what people all into their own pockets and call it "capitalism."

  • Look, I do not understand you muppets. What is wrong with a capitalistic society? Read Adam Smith, read about the invisible hand of the market, read! Capitalistic America is still one of the best places to live in, the American dream is not dead. Instead of whining about the ''nasty elite'' like a bunch of pathetic conspiracy spirits, get off your asses, start a buisness and become the coorporation! Make your own destiny. All buisnessmen began from scratch..look at Richard Brandson

  • @RomarofAenor

You moron, Adam Smith is not American. He's an ideolouge of the British Empire and the "invisible hand" of the market is The Bank of England, Baclays, JP Morgan Chase etc who *manipulate* the market. The choice is not between 'capittalism" and "Communism." Its between organic work/christian economy FOR THE PEOPLE, and oligarchism where people are human animals on the human farm and the profit of what you produce get redistriburted to some ultra rich oligarch.

  • @RomarofAenor

Hahaha, Richard Branson began from scratch... Good one.

The point is about CIVILIZATION, the rules of the game. People have dignity and economic right, we don't want to live in a world where you're either some godless, cynical exploiter or a surf. You don't udnerstand us "muppets"? Well maybe because you were born in a plantation estate of city of London financial terrorist. All know is how to grovel to the Queen and to Barclays bank etc.

  • @gosciu555 Haha, well my friend, I fear we are at opposite ends of both the political and socioeconomical spectrum. I know full way Adam Smith is no American, I am a patriotic Brit myself, and my family was hugely influencial back in the gold old days the British Empire spread across the globe. There are some things about the current system which are wrong, I concur, but this society is hardly an oligarchy in which the poor are slaves. Society has much evolved since the 1700's. T

  • @RomarofAenor You misspelled businessmen. Regardless businessmen are the most vile & evil creatures that inhabit this planet. Their code of ethics follow the guidelines of the seven deadly sins and you speak upon this position in such a positive light? Anyone who is described as "Elitist" cannot be friendly and welcoming based on the word's own definition. Make your own destiny? Seems someone was influenced by Mr. Crowley. The American Dream, you have to be asleep to believe it - George Carlin.

  • @SevenRayedGod It is thanks to big buisness that so many nescessities such as the fridge, the oven, electricity, etc were introduced to society. Buisnessmen vile and evil? My father is one, and from first hand experience, I can tell you this is not the case. I go to a school in England (Eton College) which would be described elitist, and here like everywhere there are good people just as there are bad people. Many of us will go on to become politicians, buisnesmen etc....some good, some not.

  • ONE THING IS CLEAR AFTER THE ELITES CHIP THE POPULATION AND CASLESS SOCIETYS RISE THEN MAYBE THEY WILL TURN ON EACH OTHER?

  • I LIKE THESE COMMENTS.TO BAD THEY CONTROL EVERYTHING ITS KINF OF LIKE YOU AND YOUR PET,YOU FEED THEM YOU BATH THEM HE SHITS ON YOU HE GOES TO THE DOG HOUSE.WHATS THE DIFFERENCE?WE KNOW THE DIFFERENCE?

  • I just finished watching this film. What a scene! I had to come on here to watch it again. It was readily apparent to the writers of this film in 1976. Was it apparent to the writers of the 1950s? The 1920s? How long has it been apparent? As long as Mr. Jensen says? What about before money? In the resources of the days before fiat currency? What a fascinating subject. If it's all about profit, then what's in it for the elites at the top of the pyramid. Do they yearn for happiness like the rest?

  • The Story of Glenn Beck told 30 years before his eventual advent.

  • Want to hide the truth in plain sight? Entertain them with it, and they won't be compelled to believe it as real; only as an act.

  • It is the international system of currency which determines the totality of life on this planet..... world is a college of corporations....world is a business people need to understand it in that context. Beale at 5:30 reminds me of Glenn beck (the controlled opposition at Fox).

Great script writing....we don't have this anymore, or if we do, no one allows it since it is to truthful - some minds might actually grasp the concept.! George Carlin grasped it and tried to convey it.

  • 30 years later...same shit, different day

  • NETWORK RULES!

One centralized leadership, one central religion(once they get rid of that mosque that is in the way on the rock) one currency.

Let's get this straight ? The same inbred evil elite who diligently carry the dark ones torch, who are tuning and finalizing the existing centralizing global leadership, have thus far has done such a great job running things on this planet so far? Thier agenda is control not freedom. They have no conscious these reptiles.... watch RING OF POWER

  • Hey Kid's that's the voice of Lots of Huggin bear Ned Beatty in his Oscar Nominated performance as Arthur Jensen in the 1976 oscar-winning classic movie Network.

  • this is the best freakin scene in the whole damn movie!

  • Nowadays noone makes such movies.

  • it's Lotso Huggin Bear

  • Disgusting---beck -limbaugh(beckbaugh)having a hissy-fit, cause he didn't get what he wanted--all of these bratty men should have had their asses paddled!

  • Really one of my all time favorite movies. It was the first R rated movie I snuck into with my friends. It applies to the current situation with BP.

  • Glen Beck is Howard Beale.

The movie is dated at times, but it sure captured what has happened...

  • @pftittl Actually Glenn Beck is more representative of the corporations that run our lives. Whenever there is a movement to take control of our lives by better controlling the ruinous nature of the powerful corporations, the corporations crap out their servants like Beck, Limbaugh or Hannity to stop any change by claiming that any agent of change is a radical, Marxist, fascist that must be stopped!

  • Harrowingly prescient.

  • The best performance by Beatty hands down!! This is so true!

  • One of the best movie speeches EVER!

  • Howard Beale is like a combo of Sarah Palin & Glenn Beck and Ned Beatty is playing the part of Fox News chief Roger Ailes

  • @Carbubble Anyone who thinks Howard Beale is meant to be anything like Palin or Beck has completely misunderstood the film! Palin and, more particularly Beck, are precisely the sort of whores to the corporate dollar who represent the extinguishing of the individual human spirit that this film rages against so eloquently.

  • Notice how he uses the word "Ecumenical". Just like the radical socialist "Ecumenical" group in the movie.

  • Take out the talk about money and corporations and the whole speech sounds pretty radically socialist. No nations or peoples, all men working for a common good, etc.

  • Best scene ever. Whoever wrote this scene play knows too much.

  • The more things change............

  • Very pro-socialist....i like it :)

  • 'Don't open your eyes you won't like what you see,

The devils of truth steal the souls of the free.

Don't open you eyes, take it from me.

I have found you can find happiness in slavery'

    Trent Reznor

  • one of my favorite moments in all of film!!!!!

  • Was it all so apparent as far back as 1976?!?

... the world is a college of corporations ...

    Wow! And here we are!

  • @robertrstevens What's the surprise? The world has been since the dawn of the industrial age.

  • @robertrstevens ..and yet we ignored it then as many continue to ignore it now. sigh.

  • Comment removed

  • This scene is an absolute classic. It is a metaphore for every kind of religious belief, transponed to our economy dominated era. Howard Beale, the chosen one! What fun it must have been to write and play this scene! 'I have seen the face of God'. Unsurpassed.

  • you're missing the point. it's about money, not religion. the tone is religious, the subject is materialism at its core. money. just like pink floyd said.

  • Is this the script Glenn Beck bases his character on?

  • This really is the order of things today, isn't it. But awareness is essential to fighting apathy. Apathy is the enemy. Knowledge and awareness of the scam is key. It's true, you must make a decision to live a true life, surrounded with friends and family and real, tangible love. Not the constructed false reality they are constantly and mercilessly selling you 24 hours a day. Wake up to it and create your own reality. And, most importantly.... don't shop at Walmart.

  • This is what this movie is all about...the manipulation of the "I'm Mad As Hell" rage for corporate profit. My favorite line in the movie? "We need that Saudi money bad." How prescient! How 2009.

  • And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. If, then, the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Not through "religion" but through a one-on-one relationship with the One true Creator of ALL that is in control of ALL things past present and future. To be truly FREE by forsaking ALL and following His Son, the One TRUE Messiah, unto an eternal true freedom. Remember His Words though ... "He that endures to the end will be saved".

    HalleluYaH !!!

  • So, you think these people have the rest of the world by the balls? Maybe. Most likely. Feel powerless? You are not. The solution is a bitter pill to swallow if you are up to it: POVERTY. You must disavow our system of credit, consumerism, vanity, ambition etc. Are you ready for that?Choose non participation. The American Dream is a Pyramid Scheme. Believe it. Stay home. Have friends over for a meal instead.

  • ha ha ha LOL! this actually works! Poverty is freedom.

  • ha ha ha LOL! this actually works! Poverty is freedom.

  • When jensen says

"every man will own a share of stock"

he is referring to himself and his children, not the rest of us.

Jensen explained the religion of the rulers, they consider themselves gods and the people, cattle,

dont get any of their pie, their pie is nasty, the best way to fight it is to see the little turds coming, they are inbreeds eventually they die out if they dont get any taco's

  • One of the most true speeches of all time. And the sad part is there is nothing anyone can do about it. The only way to fight it is to get as big a piece of that pie as you can.

  • God DAMN! this movie was so far ahead of it's time the truth of what's said here is still not fully grasped today. 33 years later and we still haven't figured out that we're all being used by corporations and the bankers. Time for a real revolution.

  • Squeal like a pig.

  • john jacob jingle heimer schmitt his name is my name tooooo

  • Brilliant

  • Awesome. This portrays the deluded state of mind of most corporate execs. So far removed from the realities of the world. Network is a major work of art.

  • Perhaps it portrays a world that you have no conception of. Perhaps it portrays the atomic core of the realities of the world.

  • LMAO. U keep dreaming designstudent. When u become a student of life (& its realities) get back to me.

  • THE PRIEST IS A LIAR

The reality to this UN-natural system is that you are an OWNED product from birth to death. A product. A slave. And slaves can be treated or mistreated at their owners will. Slavery is unnatural to the cosmos.

Slavery = death; you have no freedom of thought nor movement. This stagnation results in death, mentally and physically. Skull and Bones

This economic priest is a liar, making a frightening sermon to scare his flock into obedience. For his own profit, as usual.

  • Time for Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh to get one of these speeches?

  • Nope. They are perfect pushers for Jensen.

  • Sjovt, Men ik så sjov som min sang. check den ud på min Profil her

  • Brilliant film. I'm so glad I've finally watched the whole thing in one go.

  • My god... This is one of the most chilling monologues ever...

  • When you see those green lamps, you know it's trouble. Ned's speech was as frighteningly true then as it is today.

  • Fruition my friend, fruition.

  • Yep, just change Arab to the Chinese and it's up to date.

  • @TJOPootertoot That has always been true, partially. Just as much then as it is now, Jensen himself says it - the world has been business since man crawled out of the slime. Don't forget this is a film, not the universal truth. Still, it's frightening how 34 years later this movie hasn't lost it's actuality.

  • @TJOPootertoot and yet we ignored it then..are we going to continue to ignore it?
