Hey dude I just watch another video about jag 35mm pro adaptor and that dude was saying that when you use the lens adaptor it will make your video up side down. Is this true and how do you suppose to film.
@316Lunatics The whole point of a 35mm adapter is so you can use SLR lenses on your camcorder. It would be useless without a lens. To answer your question, YES, the after was shot with the adapter and lens.
I read from other 35mm adapter review. Some model will upside down the images when it put the 35mm lens on. Will this Jag35ST have this happen? I check the Jap35Pro model seems to be have no this problems. But that model produced a motor notice....
Ok i got a question on Jag35, they have a product called the Jag35 pro. I was wondering if this could just screw on to the front of my HV40 and it also includes a nikon or canon 50mm lens. Does this lens do the pull focus thing where you can focus on something close then move to a distant object? Please respond.
if you have an autofocus 35mm lens, is there any way to power it so you can use the autofocus, or does that involve the SLR camera? I suspect the autofocus control brain is in the 35mm camera. It would be really cool if you could somehow route the HV30 autofocus signal to focus the 35mm lens instead of the HV30 lens (which has to be locked on the ground glass). Maybe jag35 could talk to Canon?
the lens is from Jag35 , this one would have been around $100USD. They aren't the best, however. this kid does a good review of the product considering his knowledge of film..but f you have some more experience and understand lenses (not to mention when a shallow DOF is useful) you'll find this product a bad purchase (to say the least). your apperture's are extremely limited, you need to shoot in great light conditions without over-exposing your shots etc etc etc etc. not worth the money
Do you think that DOF adapters are worth the money at all, or just this one? Also, without a professional camcorder, shot options are limited without manual focus.
honestly, they aren't worth the money. yes, as the kid explains..they will achieve the "film look"..however..they don't really achieve this look. they're extremely limiting, and don't give you the advantages to film. the people who tend to think these are great additions/features to your camera are those with little to no knowledge of what DOF is used for, or what the "film look" even means.
my personal advice is to invest in rental equipment (either Red's or the ARRID21).
no problem. i've used the jag and the letus. the letus is pretty much the best on the market..and is only $1500 for a basic model. still not a big advnatage. i own a Canon HG10, but i've shot on high end Canon's and Sony's, the ArriFlex D21, and the Red One.
I personally, feel that it is way more superior because you have more options as far as the Jag35 goes. With the twoneil, you can only use Nikon lenses. For Jag, you can use Canon Ef, Canon FD, and nikon. I'm not 100% sure with the twoneil, but Jag35 also lets you use multiple thread sized adapters, so it can fit onto your camera without the hassle of buying step-up and step-down rings. Also as far as price goes, you can't go wrong with a $99 static adapter vs. a $199 static adapter.
I have a canon hv20, I just ordered a jag35st and a nikon 50mm 1.8. What did you do about the flip problem? I'm looking for a solution other than the flip hack although I might have the jag35 guys do it if I don't find another way around it.
sounds good. I'll check out the flip35 too. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question too bro, you've been really helpful and you've got yourself a new subscriber.
great review, it actually made me decide against the product (but i thank you for that haha). i notice that it gives a decent DOF, but is extremely limited based on the tests. it looks less like 35mm film stock and more like film stock shot out of focus. i know that dof (in a sense) is about bringing things in and out of focus as desired, but with one focal length - this becomes more limiting than helpful.
Ive already commented on this video! Where is the comment and why is this video back in my unwatched subs again? Youtube has suddenly got pants again! Still got 3 messages but Ive deleted them! Was this video reposted?
no we did not get paid to do this, we are just praising the product and really want people to check them out because they are a great company for low budget filmmakers
so do u recommend the vibrating one? I was asking because there r a lot of other diy adapters on the market as well...have u heard of the twoneils? How does this one match up? Thx.

Few questions if you don't mind:
The adapter you have came with an achromat?
what lens are you using here?
And obviously the 'after' footage is color corrected right?

did you use just the jag35 and the camera to get that look or did you have to attach another lens to the jag35?
kuunami 2 years ago
A 35mm Adapter's purpose is to allow you to attach prime lenses to your camcorder. The only way for the Jag35 to work, is to attach a lens to it.
:-)
filmtipsandtutorials 2 years ago
Oh I understand now. What lens would you recommend to use with it?
kuunami 2 years ago
I use a JAG35st with a canon FD 1.8 50mm

kuunami 2 years ago
NO!!!! You have to give back the nikon lens! As i said in the review, the jag35st only takes CANON FD lenses.
filmtipsandtutorials 2 years ago
Are you sure? The website gives an option for a Nikon Mount.
kuunami 2 years ago
Well if you got a nikon adapter, then you should be fine. Haha. Anyways, there is an old mirror trick. Try googling Flip35. Its pretty cheap to make.

dof can also be achieved easily in final cut
