Shannon: Right. You killed me, and everyone else...

Battler: That's correct. I really did kill you, butchered your corpse and drank your blood.

Shannon: So... to finish all this, take my heart with that hand of yours and crush it, please.

    ...

Battler: I killed e-e-e-everyone... Right... I did kill everyone. Do you understand? I'm the culprit in this story!

  • I believe I have some better translation speculation. Even with partial knowledge of japanese.

Kanon: Now... Nee-san... are you satisfied?

Battler: And now we've killed everyone, huh... Now there are only us two on this island.

Shannon: Yes. There's no one except us on this island.

Battler: A woman that doesn't have any compassion or tears... How is it? Being drenched in so much blood.

    Shannon: Please... kill me.

Battler: I don't want to. And, what you really want to know is... about me, right?

  • Translation's a bit scuffed *lol*:

Kanon: But, Big Sis...I don't get...why...you would...*kyeh* B.: And from this, everyone's dead...Now we're completely alone, Shannon S: Yes. We're together now. No one else is here. B: Ah, the blood, tears, and the women. What's this? Blood is dripping from you as well, but-- S: --that's because you killed me too. B: That can't be. That means, I'm the culprit behind this massacre--is that right? S: Yes. You, everyone, and me as well. We're all going to...

  • @InfinityWitch99 I don't get all of it, but here's what I understand: 0:18 B. Battler: With this everyone died... Now we're completly alone Shannon: Yes. We're togheter. Nobody is here. 0:48 Shannon: You killed me too. B. Battler: In the first twillight... Yeah, I really killed you. Shannon: Yes. You killed everyone... Including me. B. Battler: That's right... • HOLY SHAT CAMOLIES I FOUND OUT FROM RYUKISHI'S INTERVIEW THAT SHANNON'S BREASTS ARE FAKE o.O

  • Wonderful ending. Just wonderful.

    Too bad that:

    1. To get it you must play with Shannon too (which I find as a low tier character);

    2. This is the only ending B. Battler gets.

  • @kuba65475 Agreed. I'd like some exploration of a theoretical Black Battler's motives.

  • @clevomon His motive is clearly explained in Forgery no. XXX,

he was sent to Rokkenjima by the theatergoers to act out the role of the tale's culprit.

Non-metaphorically this reads "people theorized that Battler and his family where the culprits, thus he is sent to Rokkenjima to act out those theories".

  • @clevomon Black Battler isn't based around Battler's emotional reasons to be the culprit,

but the logical conclusions that point to him being one because of the circumstances that are known as fact by the public of 1998.

    That is:

    Rudolf's flirtation with illegal bussiness,

Kyrie's ability to throw away morality for a once in a lifetime chance,

Battler's 6 year absence and young Ange, who was left at home.

  • @CrimsonMoonM Thanks for explaining that. Still a little unsatisfying to me, though. I'm a character-focused person in stories, so I tend to prefer character exploration. Generally, the more insane the better the opportunity for the exploration. So, I'll probably be a little unsatisfied with Black Battler. Oh well.

  • @clevomon I agree. Well, as a being powered by theories created by people who, to put it in the series terms, have no love for Battler Ushiromiya, giving him any motivation beyond 'I'm the culprit, that is my role for this tale' would certainly be odd since he is the embodiment of theorizing with no heart in the first place.

  • @CrimsonMoonM Well, yeah, but theories generally involve a motive. Indeed, Battler's separation from the family makes him particularly suspicious precisely because there's a lot of latitude to speculate about a motive.

  • @clevomon tbh, i dont think battler COULD be the culprit. i mean, he did live asumu's parents, and from what we've seen, it looks like asumu and her family were the only normal ones XD. like, if he spent some time with the sumaderas or the ushiromiyas i could see "yeah defiantely", but asumu's family seems nice (and the grandparents WERE kind enough to take him in).

besides, the main culprit would HAVE to know about kinzo's death. so basically none of the cousins.

  • @digitalpiggy193 well I wonder...

  • @Anhiksi i think the thing is people associated the families are all together. aka, if eva and hideyoshi did it, so did george. and if natsuhi and krauss did it (proven impossible) so did jessica. but battler isnt like george and jessica, he just came back after like 6 years away.

in short while i do think kyrie and rudolph are the culprits, i dont think battler was involved.

  • @digitalpiggy193 I do

    . . . . . . hmm

  • @Anhiksi i do. yay and now we're married! =D

  • @clevomon Well, they still managed to make him interesting by giving him Battler's memories even though he doesn't act through them,

so just with that, you'll have lots of interesting culprit scenarios and interactions at least.

  • @clevomon Its not like that guy is wrong... but for sure thats not it at all . .

Battler: That's right. ......I....... killed you. Tore you up. Filled up a glass with your blood and drank it up.

Shannon: Then quickly. .......I'm offering you my heart. Please rip it from my chest...... and crumple it with your hands.

Battler: E~veryone's...... dead. ......Yes. I killed them. ....Do you get it? I..... am the culprit here. Hehehe, Hahahahahahahahahaha.......

  • Kanon: So now, sis...... are you...... satisfied......?

Battler: With that, we've killed everyone on the island. There's only the two of us left here.

Shannon: Yes. There is no one here other than the two of us.

Battler: You're a cold woman, aren't you. So? How does this blood-stained carpeting feel to you...?

    Shannon: ......Please hurt me.

Battler: Don't like it, do you? First, the thing you want hurt....... is me, isn't it?

Shannon: ......Yes. ......You killed everyone... and me as well.

  • Does it feel very wrong of me to think that the ending of this video, about the part where B. Batler is laughing, tend to make me think that he is cry-laugh(a laughing while crying for doing the wrong act)?

  • @KuribohTwin No, I think that's exactly the impression Ono was trying to give. Good acting on his part.

  • What's the title of the BGM in the beginning? Can't remember :(

  • Without love it cannot be seen. Black Battler isn't evil. His existence is an expression of the depths of Battler's love and sorrow.

  • @LavosAdvocate He's the living embodiment of the Battler culprit theories,

think if it like how EVA is to the Eva culprit theories.

    Forgery no.XXX explains it nicely,

he is Battler, but at the same time not Battler, a being sent to rokkenjima by the theatergoers to fullfil his role as the tale's culprit.

  • @CrimsonMoonM Yeah, I'm aware. What I mean is, the reason he exists, and the things he says in this ending. EVA exists because Eva told a bunch of lies about what happened so that Ange would suspect she was the culprit instead of her parents. So I think it's likely that B Battler represents a side of Battler that prefers everyone believes he is the culprit, instead of Yasu or his family.

  • @LavosAdvocate Battler and Eva decided to keep the catbox shut because it's a past Ange would gain nothing by knowing, what said past is, we don't know and probably never will. the theorizing of the masses are just an unfortunate side-effect to keeping it closed that is out of the catbox's residence's control. Though Battler DID indeed present himself as the culprit of End,

so him scapegoating himself as the culprit isn't totally theorizing on your side.

  • @LavosAdvocate Black Battler exists so strongly as he does because quite frankly, him and his family being the culprits are quite likely.

He was separated from the family for 6 years,

Rudolf have always been doing borderline illegal business

and Kyrie is a person who can throw away morality for a once in a lifetime's chance.

These are facts that Battler had no control over.

  • @LavosAdvocate I also find it hard to believe from a meta perspective that Battler would claim to keep the catbox closed for Ange's sake,

while purpously pushing for the theories that hurts her the most (remember, Black Battler represents Battler, and also Rudolf and Kyrie).

From the real world perspective, I find it hard to believe that Tohya,

who sees Battler indifferently, would reflect his mysteries to Battler's wishes.

  • @CrimsonMoonM Your points are all valid! I think what's fascinating about Umineko is that it lends itself to so many different ways of looking at it.

  • @LavosAdvocate Indeed.

  • Hmm... Since Shannon is Kanon anyway, does it mean B.Battler killed Shannon because he killed Kanon? Or was that just the Kanon personality dying and Shannon was killed afterwards?

  • @KirroSoya You're looking too much into it.

He just killed Shannon because that's what he was supposed to do.

Even though 'Shannon' seem to be the only one that's counted as a person even from the meta perspective (guess I support the theory that Shannon is Yasu's 'vessel'),

both Shannon and Kanon can exist separate from each other in the catbox that is 1986 since that's how it was told.

  • @KirroSoya To turn it around, even if Shannon (and in turn, Yasu) where to die (as in really die, no tricks) before Kanon, he could still exist as long as the servants where instructed to act as though he was there until they would be threatened with suspicion and would have to make him disappear.

Alas, such a scenario didn't happen, but just to put an example.

  • Did anyone else get NTR vibes when you were using B.Battler/Shannon and fought George in arcade?

  • @fernanj003 Oh yeah. That's the point too, with Shannon talking about how she "isn't the Shannon that he loved".

  • ...Does it sound so wrong to say that I think Dark Battler is sexy?

  • @crest2x4 Not at all, anyone can see that this guy is one damn smooth villain.

  • @crest2x4 And he's laugh, is sexy too.

  • "Minna...shinji mata...(?) Sou sa. Ore ga koroshitanda...wakaru ka. Ore ga kono jiken no han'nin da. Ehe...Aha...AHAHAHA."

  • Is it possible you could do one of the Rosa endings? I think it would be interesting to see.

  • @Lolitafreak88 I'll be getting all of them up eventually, minimum two a day.

  • @CrimsonMoonM That would be nice thank you ^_^. Some of these Cross endings are interesting in funny and/or powerful ways.

  • So wait, Kanon and Jessica were B.Battler's final boss?

  • i almost cried watching shannon dying ; ___________ ; DAT BATORA IS REALLY EVIL !!!

  • Battler: Everyone…Died…That’s right! I’ve killed. Understand!? I am….this incident’s culprit! Fu Fuuu Fuah hahahahaha. *Scene End*

  • How do you get B.Battler? Do you have to fight him in arcade?

  • @kirby6565 Just beat arcade with Battler on your team.

facing B.Battler in arcade is HAAAAAAARD...

But It'll give you a challenge for single player so you won't start breezing through it for a while.

  • @CrimsonMoonM Does it have to be a specific difficulty?

  • @kirby6565 To unlock B.Battler? Not that I know off

(I played normal because hard is actually hard now).

  • @CrimsonMoonM Oh ok I thought it was that really sadistic fight where he has a bunch of meta abilities. I'm curious is B.Battler a good character in terms of gameplay?

  • @kirby6565 Oh no, that is just a extreme extra challenge.

He's simply a version of Battler with suped up versions of Battler's moves

except for his unique SP move which is no doubt the best in the game.

It'll be interesting to see how the tourneys will handle him since Battler was already one of the best characters.

  • it's official: B.BATTLER IS ONE GOD DAMD CRIMINAL! ALSO THE PERFECT EVIL LAUGHTER!!!! *i think i'm in love*

oh, my god! BEST ENDING EVER! please someone translate!!!!!!!

  • @Turksemployee Thank you!

  • What exactly happened?

  • @GentlemanAeon777

This is from what I am hearing from different sources but Shanon just discovered that Evil Battler was going around killing folks.

  • @ViolinSnowKid2 She seemed more than happy to go along with his schemes,

so my guess is that she's helping him fullfil his role as the tale's culprit.

  • @CrimsonMoonM

    Ah okay

So Shanon like 'em bad boy, huh?
