I love MJ... he's inspired me so much. But I just have to say that he looks a little out of it in this. We all know he suffered from an addiction to prescription pills and I think he was very high in this. *sigh*
I think this was a special aired in honor of Michael Jackson's thirtieth year as a solo entertainer, rather than Beat It's 30th anniversary? Brilliant energetic performance by the legend himself never to be repeated. Great video. Thanks so much for sharing.
"Beat it" was his first 'hard rock' song that uses 'disco' drums and includes an complementary 'heavy metal' solo from neo classical inspiration. In the 30th anniversary, Slash played the hard rock guitar riff and the heavy metal guitar solo on "Beat It"

@Bollocks681 because it was the 30th anniversity of michaels solo carrer which started in 1971 with the release of Got To Be There he also performed at this concert Billie Jean (released 1983), Black or White (released 1991) and The Way You Make Me Feel (released 1987) he used to his best songs/performances to smbolism his success. We should do something for MJ as a mini tribute. Mj's favorite number was 7 and January 25th will be 7 months since Michael passed away. So at 7:00pm I urge all his fans to watch Thriller on youtube. It's a simple project so please join me. We want youtube to recognize that something is going on for Michael. It will also give Thriller more viewsso come and join me! If we all do this at 7 it will pay respect to MJ and youtube will realize something is happening.
For god's sake.. what you guys are seeing is completely different to what the live crowd saw. This is a release version of a live event - there's rarely any 'live' release that doesn't have overdubs. Take it from someone who worked on this particular show.
uh I love Micahel Jackson but he was def miming up until after the Slash solo where you could see him give the signal to turn his mic on/lower the backing track I mean either way it doesn't matter but just throwing some truth in the mix
Best entertainer there ever was, best entertainer there is, best entertainer there ever will be. hands down, no questions asked. give this man the respect he has earned.
actually, that really was his live voice. notice how the song is lowered down further to lower notes. if you saw this is it, he sang it just like this. and if he wanted to, he could sing it just like the original.
Slash, your solo didn't sound anything like the original. Very disapointing. I figured someone of your caliber would have performed this classic a lot better to give it the justice that it deserves.
Michael Jackson was is and forever will be the greatest entertainer this world ever and im pretty shore that there is never going to be another Michael Jackson the world has lost the greatest R.I.P. Michael Jckson R.I.P.

Michael é Eterno e único para nós Brasileiros um verdadeiro cavalheiro um homem doce e sensível te amamos obrigada por fazer nossos dias mais felizes thank you so much Michael
I jumped for joy upon hearing of michael jackon's death. I would love to watch him writhe in pain. I'm reliving his moment of spectacular death. He tossed and turned on his death bed. Maggots crawled out of his eye sockets and nostrils. Then his body went stiff. He gasped for air, choking on his semen. "Beat it, beat it," he muttered, then his body went limp and he was no more. I wish I were there to capture this kodak moment on camera. After the funeral, i'm gonna pee on his grave.
yeah i agree that EVH shoulda did the solo on this one. its the 30th anniversary anyway! but gotta give slash his credit. held it down. he did a good job.

And the thing is; even if he was, hes Michael Jackson, he's proved to us for over 40 years that he basically has the voice of a God.
So .. if he mimes here and there I really don't think it should be that big a deal, but whatever.
