Is there a catwalk for tuning? Cabinet looks kind of tight, and reaching those middle pipes looks difficult. Wish I'd thought of doing this when we built the little organ at my church.
Hmm slightly lifeless, from the artifacts, i'd wager the audio was recorded on an analog tape recorder positioned on the console, with unidirectional mic which would explain the sub-standard quality and volume. Post processing boosts the background hiss. If you can stand the volume and hiss, you can hear some echo at the end, but it's mostly lost due to the post-processing and poor gain from the on camera mic. I for one would love to see more from this beast!
What a beautiful instument but what a disappointing room. I'm sure the organ builder was pulling their hair out to overcome the limitations of the room. With the cost, I wonder if an electronic installation would not have been more satisfactory maybe an Marshall & Ogletree? This Parsons Pipe Organ would sound amazing in a good room.
@tgeorge48 No offence meant, but to what limitations are you referring, and "room" by that you mean the church interior or are you speaking of resonance chamber where the pipes are connected to the windchest. When pipes are not up for display, they can be packed fairly tight, as can be seen from the holes in the floor that lead to the valves.
@alpha232 Sorry I missed your email. Was referring to the lack of echo in the room. The instrument is beautiful in every way and your selection of music was superb. Was that selection by Buxtehude?
Bored after the first two minutes. Good idea didn't really pan out in my opinion because the sequences don't really show how this got built. Once you realized this was not working, I'd have done a more old-fashion video with some of these guys explaining how they did this over B Roll.
Why continue with an idea that didn't pan out? Or why use it for 3 entire minutes? Too long. Ever see 3 minutes of time sequenced video? No. Why? Because it doesn't work like that.

Why not the Latin Classic Ina Gadda Davida?

How is this instrument doing? Has it settled yet? Are you satisfied with its builder?

And he picked such a boring selection of music to play on such a great organ.
