@bigwillyalex Yes, I would definitely recommend this scope mount for an M1A. I got mine directly from Springfield Armory's online store. The current price appears to be $123.00 but I think the price was higher when I bought mine.
I have been thinking about getting either the SA or a McCann scope mount. The Springfield Armory site has very little information on their mount. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer a lot of the questions I had about the SA mount.
Now that you have had this mount on for a few months, how do you like it? I have a NM and my eyes are getting so that I can hardly see through the rear sight aperture.
@Thestargazer56 I hear what you're saying about it being difficult to get enough light through the aperture as our eyes age! I will check the weather and try to get the rifle out to the range in the next day or two to make a follow-up video. Thanks for the prompt!
@keanmatthews Do they have the installation booklets for sale on their website or available over the phone for purchase? I plan on grabbing a national match pretty soon and the bi-pod installation is something I have never done before, if you have one I would love to see a video on how to do so.
@TNPSentll I don't think you can purchase the installation booklet for the scope mount separately. Also, I haven't installed a bi-pod but will definitely make a video if I ever do. Thanks!
@harleyrider19444 Great point, harleyrider. This was not only my first video review, but it was a spur of the moment thing -- after I had already finished the installation. I'll keep it in mind for future video reviews.
@keanematthews is that a good mount for holding zero? ive heard of a lot of issues with m1a scope mounts. im in the market for buying a mount but im not sure which one to get.
@wsmarines Because of the way it attaches in two places, I think you'll find this design is better than the others that only attach in one place. Be sure to follow the installation instructions for hammering & tightening the mount screw!
@wsmarines I have this mount and it's solide. I'm embarassed to say. But once I was slinging the shoulderstrap of my rifle softcase over my shoulder and it came apart and my just zeroed Rifle fell flat on the ground. But the niext time I shot it, it was dead nuts on. I am going to try out the A.R.M.S. #18 mount though. I want something closer to the reciever for a shorter sight height.
how do you like you scope mount now that you've had it a while

@MrWasFree YES, the Springfield Armory scope mount DOES leave enough clearance to use the iron sights! It's a great feature of this scope mount!

It would of been nice if you had video taped the installation of the scope mount.
