miami is also a competitive college to get into...if you are willing to dedicate success and still wanna have fun, then Miami will grant you in. besides how you may think we represent, we have best skating program than any school here in ohio and they won 7 straight national champ titles., the our football team won a few championships, our study abroad is amazing, our dance team won several awards in a roll. Miami just isnt for anyone.

I am a current Miami student...i dont act like a sloppy student laying around campus and i know the rules of how not to stand out like a freshmen.. but pick the college that ifts you right. Either you succed in the school or you dont. no need to put students at a certain college like that (these negative comments) any college has their times where students represent themselves a certain way..especially OU. Miami likes to have fun but belive it or not we have the best programs going on.

freshamn on any campus should check the university's web site for campus maps if you are needing to find your way so as not to get lost and not to look like a freshman. I thought the bars were open at night not early in the morning before classes

@TheRodFarva You can call fraternity brothers what you like, but we're still historically more successful. Miami got me into medical school at Vanderbilt thanks to their amazing research programs and my fraternity helped me survive the challenging course load thanks to our dedication to scholarship. Just because you weren't up to the task of keeping good grades doesn't mean you can place the blame on the school, or especially the people that go there.

It's that attitude and arrogance that made me not want to join a bunch of d-bags who pay money for friends and hang out with other insecure people who are still stuck in high school and have to be in the "in-crowd". Don't get me wrong, I liked what Miami had to offer academically which why I went there. It's a great school. It was the rude and entitled people at Oxford that drove me away. Degrees from OSU and UCLA are helping me fine.

Im nearly finished my 1st year of university in Ireland and in my 3rd year I have the option of going to university in America. At present I am 18 so I am legally allowed to drink alcohol and get into clubs in my own country. If I decide to go to America in 3rd year I will only be 19 turning 20 at xmas. Will I be able to drink alcohol at that age. Is the law strict? Is the legal age not 21? Haha I sound like such an alcoholic but the social part of university is the best experience.

My problem with MU is that its in Oxford,Ohio. The town is set up to bleed the students dry. They sell them beer (even under-aged) and then they charge them and extort fines and lawyers fees. The Oxford police are abusive and dishonest. Its a horrible situation.

haha that was me (2:41) at 10am on GBD. i was asleep for 2 hrs+ and when i woke up kids in green were sitting around me doing homework. nobody bothered me and all my stuff was there. its very safe. crime happens everywhere, but the rate at miami is definitely low.

I think it depends on what part of the campus you are located. Stereotypes never apply to everyone. You see a fair amount of preppy people as well as a fair amount of down to earth people. I'm a usually well-dressed analytical guy. To some people I come off as snobby and preppy. Idunno, its one of those things you'd have to judge in person.

also, the person who said its a pretty damn safe university - theres constantly reports of theft and rape there, which may be fairly common around some schools i suppose, its not that safe :P
