  • THANX!! I'd love to see your plans. My protocol starts by asking kids to observe a real conversation, stopping it here and there to log on a chart what the participants are doing and saying that makes the conversation work. I'm wondering what your Step 1 is---so YES, I would like to see your plans. My email, Facebook, or YouTube?

  • Few authors offer help w lit circles. Harvey Daniels does, but where he differs (from my work---and yours) involves the use of roles. I feel that a lit circle w roles does not occur in real life. Roles = teacher control. Your students appear to have control THEMSELVES. Plus, YOU are not in their groups! Good! You trusted the kids and it shows. Do you know how many videos I've viewed looking for that quality?! My book: Knee to Knee, Eye to Eye (Hein.)

  • Terrific examples! Kids are in control of selves & focused on contents of books. These are REAL conversations, not teacher-led, nor are they following roles to be played out. Wondering if the teacher read my book Knee to Knee, Eye to Eye---ardith davis cole
