Mine is a bit different. For some reason my xbox gets the red rings (stops working). And then when I restart it, it works fine. This has been getting worse (it actually started after I hooked up my Kinect).

My old xbox used to get the red ring all the time, every time the a/v chord was unplugged (plug it back in and your fine). Then a couple random times where you just turn it off then back on and its fine.

if you rap a towel around your Xbox a let it run for an hour, it will correct the burn on the heat sync which is causing the red ring of death, and this still leaves the red ring! i have seen this work, make sure when preforming this operation to check frequently to see if the box is working every 20 mins or so or you can set your Xbox on fire!

@Hugorulz10 well u r right.. some where it can get air good.. i did fix my xbox 360 and yes it is running right now.. with no top or bottem but it works is the thing.. parts and what i done i took my xbox a part and i removed the x clamps and i replaced them with "5X10MM .80 screws" u will need 8 of them.. and new Arctic Silver 5 CPU Thermal clean all the old thermal off good befor u do it..

That is NOT red ring. Red ring is when all 4 slots are red including the center power icon. This is just an error in the console reading the disk. If you take out the game and clean it and re-insert it; It should fix itself.
