Nice road. Too bad none of these guys can drive worth a flip, save the camera car. They are twitching at the edge all over the road. Smooth is the name of the game. You could make this road a lot more fun by trying to stay in your lane and not straightening out the turns (and also endanger less innocent people).

All the drivers I run with don't mind, they usually just put their mirrors down.

If I don't have a camera going then I don't use the high beams when I'm following.

If someone has the high beams behind me I usually just work to outrun them. :D

Manual focus on the car in front, tungsten White Balance, +9DB boost, 1/100 shutter, Iris wide open.

I could still push the gain up two more steps to +15DB, but it's really clean at +9DB.

I always have the high beams on when making videos. All the drivers are fine with that.

For this run, a 3CCD Sony PD-170 MiniDV/DVCAM camcorder.

Final Cut Pro for the software. Not many camcorders work this well in low light, you can get an idea what a basic consumer camcorder looks like in a similar set up from some of my other videos.

If you find a model with good manual controls then you can usually get decent results with practice. 3 CCD usually helps, but it's not a guarantee.

This is actually a different camera - It's a 3 CCD Sony PD170 on my Manfotto tripod that I got belted down on the back seat.

This camera has kick ass low light capabilities, but it's too much $ to strap to the bumper, lol
