At 0:29, the flexing fingers are confirmation enough. The rest is pure bonus, and, impressive! For those wondering why the bird only takes one at a time, I think it's because they take a seed, go to a branch or rail where they pry it open and eat it, and then repeat said process. Bluejays can take many more seeds (a dozen, easily, if I remember correctly) and they end up doing the same thing, landing on a branch or rail and then opening each seed before eating it.
Those things have got to be among the cutest things ever. I see them all the time but never tried doing this. I have a feeling it has "fail" written all over it. (I don't have good luck with animals.)
So, may i ask, how long did it take for them to trust you this way? I try and try and can't seem to get any birds to trust me long enough to eat near me, much less on me. Tell me your secrets <3
Excellent work my freind. Isn't it strange how they come to you and take what they want then fly off - only to return again. If I was a Chickadee I'd stay there on your hand and eat the flippin' lot.
cute video! i will have to try this at my house. we have a large population of goldfinches that live near our ranch. i wonder if i could get them to trust me the way your chickadees trust you!
Cool video! I believed you the first time around as my grandfather used to tell me stories of Chickadees eating off of his shoulder when he was working out in the woods.
Haha I'm glad you liked it. Did you see I even wiggled my fingers for you when I was holding the camera? Coal tits are different birds though, I'm not sure whether they are related at all. Haha maybe yuo could do me a favour and let the people watching my other video that i'm legit!
Birds are amazing.

did it tickle when they landed on your hand? I remember I fed pigeons and they'd SIT on my hand and it tickled.

Wow, it is so beautiful how you can "catch" a bit of nature.

Great! Your series of Feeding Chickadees vids is among my favorite ever on YouTube.
Shows just a very sweet, micro-scale connection to nature.
Thank you for posting.

I'm officially humbled and sorry for doubting your fand feeding of Chickadees.
I think we call them Coal Tits - bit more rude than your name!
Coal Tit (parus ater)
