He was my one of my first crushes as a little girl. Donny Osmond being the other. I was shocked to hear of his death. He always struck me as someone who tried to live his life to the fullest, no matter where it lead him. I don't know if he ever realized what an influence he was as a teen idol "back in the day." RIP Davy.
It was awesome that they had the Marathon. At least one channel paid a great tribute to Davy. I made it for the whole thing & then they played The Monkees movie..HEAD! Very trippy movie. I can see why it never got good reviews, but, it had Davy in it, so, in my book that alone makes it good. I haven't seen one magazine with anything else about Davy but still about Whitney. Really, give it a break with her. Davy was more iconic than she could ever be so, honor his memory & give recognition to him
I wrote the same thing about the non stop coverage of Whitney Houston & nothing on Davy, who has been a icon a whole lot longer. No offense to Whitney I'm not a fan and not trying to be rude but you play with drugs u pay the consequences. U had a choice with your life Davy did not He was so full of life & just wanted to live life to its fullest, entertaining & his horses. He had no choice losing his life yet the media make a big deal of these druggies & nothing about the clean ones. U R the best
Wow love it how the media overwhelmed us with the news of Whitney Houston's death. Yet nothing on Davy Jones death. Yet a lot of people complain about racism. Don't worry Davy you always carried yourself with respect. Above all the great music you left us to always remember you.
Forgot to say, that the marathon is on Antenna tv. I only have normal tv..no cable, etc. On my tv it is Channel 38-2. Don't know what channel it would be for those with cable or satellite or if you would be lucky enough to even get it.
Still watching the Monkee marathon. It goes til 11pm tonight and then their movie Head will be on. For any of those who don't know & might like to. It has been going since 5pm yesterday and I have not missed one second. SO TIRED, but, am not going to give up now. 9 more hours to go..YIKES, but, it is in memory of my Number 1 guy. LOVE you Davy and I am LOYAL to the very end and beyond.
Just wanted to add, watching this marathon has been so bittersweet. My heart aches to see you so full of life, but, I love seeing your beautiful face. I have all the shows anyways, but, had to watch marathon. You were & are ABSOLUTE PERFECTION..CUTEST guy EVER. You have brought me & continue to bring me such joy. Just the mere thought of you, makes my heart feel so good & my life so much better. Never have outgrown you and NEVER will. I LOVE YOU..my PRECIOUS DAVY & will cherish our meeting 4EVER
Davy, my love, whom I have ALWAYS been loyal to. I am 48 & been watching & listening to you since 2. Now, to prove my absolute loyalty, there has been a Monkee marathon on Antenna TV. Started at 5pm yesterday, Mar. 3/12 & I have watched since it started, stayed up all night & am still watching at 11:41am, Sunday morning. I am beyond exhaustion, as I do not sleep well as it is, but, for you, I would do anything. I listen to your music all the time was doing so the day before you passed. LOVE YOu
R.I.P. Davy Jones. I'm 25 and my mom introduced me to this band when I was a kid. I may be young, but I think this band is awesome and they made some great music. :)
Rest in peace Davy. You were the cute one in the Monkees. All the girls back in the day had a crush on you. Nice to see all the fans come out and pay their respects. It was a time of innocence for many of us.
Thanks to the Monkees, we have artists like David Bowie who, in his earlier career, was obviously influenced by their sound. Not only do they stand alone as a paragon of great music but they've given us some of the most influential artists of our time too.
At 13 yrs old my birthday, I was lucky enough to get a gift that would last a lifetime from my first girlfriend. Daydream believer was the hit song on the radio at the time. The album i wish i still had,the memories of my first love i will always have.
I worked at Popular Creek music theater in Hoffman Estates, IL back in 1986 and these guys were the biggest selling act at the place that year. They sold out 2 shows easily.
The Monkees, what more do you want. they sang good songs and made you laugh at the same time. Today's crap music is full of attitude, moody ,show offs.
I am very famous in Serajeva as the old king of the Hippies. I called the fattys the hippos and the skinnys the huppis. But I was ruler of all the cool peoples so i was knowed as the uncrowed King of All Hippies. I invited the Monkees to visist my throneland but thery thoght my letter was fakey.
I had such a crush on David Jones, I was something like 10! All the controversy over whether they played their own instrumentals or not, who cares? They had great vocals, a really funny comedy show, & David had an adorable British accent :) This song always made me feel good, & still does - that's what music is all about; making people feel - whatever the emotion/feeling: happy, sad, introspective, nostalgic, full of life....they could do that & make you laugh. A pretty good combination I'd say.

Back then when all the controversy about the ligitimacy of the group
was going on. This song and this video in my mind marked them as
a ligit group. Back then as a kid, I too did not take them seriously. I
just thought it was another tv show. But now I really respect them.
And their fight to be ligit. If given the chance they could have proven
them selves to compete with the other ligit groups. Mike Nesmith
was a talented song writer.
