Yes, you are right. Thank God for Otis Redding, He paved the way for the Chris Browns of today, which I might add, he did a heck of a rendition of Otis Redding in Tyler Perrys movie, and that awed me that the young people know and respect him. A true testament to his music and his gift. He is smiling in heaven. I am sure.
Hey man, show Otis a little Respect. If you're gonna stick a microphone in front of a loudspeaker to make a recording at least of the decency not to make a bunch of noise in the background, eh?
@timmyj40 Thank you timmyj40. This is a great rendition of a great song and I am delighted that you have a good copy of Otis singing it. I'll subscribe and watch for the new "no background noise" version! Thanks!!
@timmyj40 YOU DONT NEED TO RE RECORD --------------------- I AM LISTENING TO OTIS. BAAAAAAAAAAD DUDE.........YOU ALL JUST DONT UNDERSTAND SOUL AND ANGUISH.
@jamila3274 Au contraire, mon frere. I AM listening to Otis, just as I have since I first saw him in 1965 in Detroit. And Otis is what I want to hear, without timmyj40 knocking stuff around and chatting in the background. Timmy, lucky for us, is rerecording this classic -- almost perfect -- baaaaad mf version of this great song. And I thank him for his respect for Otis and to go to all that extra trouble for us.
did Otis write this or Sam Cooke or someone else? I've heard both. Love all the versions I've heard so far....Soloman Burke, Tina Turner..Sam Cooke, Al Green..Aaron Neville, and now Otis.
@jschuler53 All the covers are ok but in my personal opinion nobody did it with that intens raw passion, feeling and emotion like Otis Redding, the Big O, honestly!
@carshagify I think Mr.Dog is talking about the upload. You can hear background noises that aren't part of the original recording and the sound is rather tinny.
Kim Burrell got me here...

jamila3274 4 weeks ago
@jamila3274
I was answering someone's question about who wrote it.
But don't you think Sam Cooke would "do it the way Sam Cooke meant it"
since Sam Cooke WROTE it?

Yes, but it's typical of Otis' recordings in his day. To me, it sounds just perfect -- the Stax Records style.
