  • They're all such sweethearts. Last time I was at Natalie and Donnell's house they were going through the rounds teaching the kids- every kid has a half hour lesson each on dancing and fiddling every day. Adorable :)

  • OH WOW! Beatifull...

  • wow.

  • Sorry for spamming the comment post but I just have to add this last comment in... HE DIDN'T DO THE FIDDLE PLUCK IN THIS VERSION!!! :O

When I went to see them live, he plucked the strings on the end of the fiddle, I was pretty impressed to say the least!

  • If I didn't believe in a one true God, I would put Leahy on his pillar. Instead, they get to sit one spot down :/

  • I love all the history and talent of Celtic music, but I have to say it, I just can't help it- HE'S SO HOT!!! :D

  • i did this song for my irish dance recital, and when i was dancing to this song i was tired, sweaty, and thirsty, and i thought this is why i irish dance: from the pure joy

  • WOW WHAT TALENT

  • @DAVY1944 Couldn't have said it better! Not sure who's better, Leahy or The Rankins? :O

If it's rated on fiddle play, then Leahy wins hands down!! :DD

  • Saw them when they came to the Eisemann Center in Dallas and loved every moment of it :D

  • I love the chieftains! These Leahy folks really know how to play too!

I hope they come to Ireland soon :D

  • I hate to make this comparison, but just watch some mindless rapper talk an inane song with a beat and then watch this. These guys have more talent in their hangnail then most popular artists do.

  • Amazing!! I have seen them about a year ago, they have a lot of amazing tunes that makes you want to get up and just dance with them!!

  • Amazing family of musicians....and the sisters are so freakin' hot!! I know I said the same thing on other Leahy vids, but hey...I know what I like.

  • just you

  • I'm serious, look at 1:45 in the video.

it's just the piano that's playing, but everyone's still jammin away.

not accusing the band of anything, I just think that there's something up with the video, a time delay perhaps?

  • AMAZING.

  • Brilliant!!

  • LOL is that a touch of envy I see in Sean Keane's eyes?

  • Sean's very good but Donnell Leahy may well be the best in the world. Certainly in the top 2 or 3.

  • Music to really make you forget about all of the negatives and feel great about life........Absolutely Fantastic!

  • wow! its nearly like there violins could get any second into fire! they are so great! roll on, guys!

  • They aren't playing till they bust a few strings. lol!!

  • Donnell married natalie macmaster lucky bastard!Love them but they look like clones lol

  • Nice! video and music. amazing!

  • You know, when you compare Donnell Leahy to the "dueling violins" videos on Youtube, there is absolutely no comparison. He is so much better he is in a different class musically. Not that they are so bad, it's just that he is that good!

  • They are so great!

  • Absolutely!!

  • Wow freakin fantastic!! This is one of my favorite fiddle tunes. You guys are awesome.

  • i have never heard anything like this in my life.they are beyond musicans

  • Great playing and set of tunes. The only thing wrong was I couldn't hear Matt Molloy play.

  • Thank you! They are SUPER.

  • What tune is this/

  • B Minor...it's in the title

  • That's the key of the tune, because he does multiples, and one of them is Tam Lin which is definitely ot in B-minor, it's either D-minor or A-minor.

  • Go to thier site, look at thier cds and you will see "B Minor" and it is exactly this song...

  • And one of the tunes is Sheehan's, which is played in G.

Which, incidentally, is played in G in this recording.

  • the secon tune they play is one i play and we know it as "the galsgow reel" but that's probably not it's original name!

  • Jenny's Chickens.

  • This song always makes me feel like dancing!

  • i play that with there cd but to finish it off with sheehans that wood kill my fingers

  • I've seen Leahy, and they are so amazing live. It makes it even better that they are with the Chieftains.

  • this is on one of the Leahy albums actually!

  • it sounds so much better live :) oh my goodness!!!

  • i did dance to this song. and i loved it!! ahha i probabaly listen to it everyday. ahah i have such random taste in music.

  • WOW. Thanks. Going into my celtic playlist! This Irish/Scotch/Cherokee heart thanks you. :)

  • I agree, I loved your comment. Don't know why someone would rate it thumbs down. Guess they didnt' reconize appreciation.

  • Wow, I have to same the same thing. I agree, this is greatly appreciated. :)

  • je m'en lasserais jamais de regarder cette vidéo :)

  • is this on any of the chieftan's albums? if so, which one?

  • Brilliant stuff

  • This is SWEEEEEEET!

  • I saw them in 2006 and honestly they are amazing.

  • I think your d*** is thin , not their violin....

    They rock...

  • I agree.

  • omg this is one of the best songs i have listened to in a long time and i am at the age that i listen to heavier stuff then this and i am not really a person that is into this stuff all though it is like being back home and feeling like i was when i was a little girl and i am happy to have found such a great web site that plays all this stuff ...

  • How proud can we be as Canadians when we watch this?! This is the culture of our comparatively young country. Does anyone know if Leahy has played any prominent venues in the U.S.? If so, I can only imagine how well received they were?

  • Funny how such a relentless assault can win over even the most skeptical. Many young rockers, determined to be resistant, when exposed to one live performance become admirers. Traditionalists, who resent the New Age trappings & modern insrumental renderings, begrudgingly smile. Artists like Leahy provide a gateway for new fans to experience through curiousity, other artists & forms of traditional music. The Chieftans have always understood this,& their work in promoting & preserving is unmatched.

  • Fantastic. Never get tired of this song. As the spectator says: "Oh my God". That sums it all up.

  • Gosh, I love Leahy and just found my faibel for the Chieftains!!! This is great stuff!!!

  • brilliant! 5 stars.

  • We use this song for Whip the Willow sometimes! It's great to dance to.

  • Pure genious and talent! I remember when I was at the chieftains' concert here in mallorca. It was amazing! I ended dancing on the stage! 5 stars

  • Who on earth gives this less than 5 stars. Maybe the video quality but that's it... Bravo! I wish I could play like that.

  • God, this is pure magic!!!!!

  • wow amazing

  • I'm going to see them tonight! =D

  • Ha, I've this song on DVD. Beatifull!

  • it's a Steinberger electric bass.

  • belle musique avec un beau son irish!!

  • the first song is not called "B Minor".. it's called The Curlew. It's in B minor.

  • Yes, the song is actually called "B Minor" :) It's on their first (self titled) album. Worth every penny & more. We're seeing them tomorrow night!

  • The first album is great

  • see above. and also to clear up any confusion.. it's not just all one "song" there are several tunes in there...lol

  • is this song actually called B minor?

  • Yes, I Guess

  • Does anyone know when Leahy is going to be playing in Ontario, Canada again?

  • r i p john allan

  • omg!!! I finally have some music to highlnd dance to... wowweeeeeeeee

  • This has long been one of my favorite bands. Thank you for uploading it.

  • By the way the first part is jenny's Chickens and then two variations of Tam Lin. And believe me it is difficult to play but sounds fantastic!!!

  • too fast!

    but good show

  • Thanks for all the kind comments!

  • .....Especially starting at 3:30. Thats there big part. Either way, great music!!

  • The Cheiftains are not given enough credit here. Cameras always on Leahy.

  • The old guys playing the flutes seem to be having a hard time keeping up. Hehe! ;)

  • They stopped playing because thier part had stopped...trust me..they can play hard just as much as Leahy.

  • Sorry, no harm intended. The Chieftains are wonderfully talented and I love the sound of the flutes accompanying this song. I just thought that at some parts they looked a bit out of breath. ;)
