There are more than a few bands that deserved so much more than they got sigon kick kings x ECT and im sure there are some I dont know of .but jellyfish are missing out is the greatest tragedy of music history . I actually feel sorry for my self being deprived of the music they would have made had the world known them .
Do you have the 4-disc Fanclub Box-set musicgurl? If not, have your mom or dad contact me and I'll be hapy to send you a copy. :) Lots of great unreleased gems on that box-set!
It's unbelievable how much the bass gtr in the latter part of this song sounds like Chris Squire of Yes. It's also unbelievable that Jellyfish weren't massive!
Technically they were around in the 80s, but as BEATNIK BEATCH. Little known fact...they were still going by BEATNIK BEATCH when they cut the demo tracks for "Bellybutton" in 1990. LOVE this band -- still my favorite after all these years.
So did I... once on their first, and then this one @ the Warfield in SF. I hear Roger a lot in this song, like he wrote it. I believe the song credit reads.. Manning/ Sturmer. or just Manning. Mostly his instrumentation and overall sound.
I saw jelly fish during this tour...scary good. the recordings do/did them NO justice..I never knew a band could sound THAT good...should be some live stuff here on youtube..
Much like Badfinger and Big Star, they were just too good to last, It is sadly typical that after 2 brilliant "albums" they would close up shop. It is our loss. Belly Button and Spilt Milk were among the best works of the last century, without question.
Best dam song ever.

Perhaps one of the best pop songs ever!?
Andy Sturmer is god! Wish I had the chance to see this band live just once?
I bought Bellybutton the week it came out?
I will always pray for a reunion, one of the most distinct sounds ever! In an ugly word, Jellyfish are beautiful! MUCH LOVE!

The ending turned tragic when many years later
the baby had grown up and married a pop singer...
I guess it was her turn to make her first mistake

clutching his crucifix
baptised the baby in whisky and licorice
what lovely way
drowning sins in tooth decay
