Dude, in the wild, budgies either find an old nest, or carve a new one in the hollow of a tree. The usually only place a few things there like a few feathers and THAT'S IT.

@CryingForGaza I cant remember what the technique is called, but you can pick up the egg and go into a dark room, and put a flashlight under the egg. If you see alot of veins - you should be expecting some babies! :)

When budgies eat their eggs it means they need the calcium ir vitmens tht it took to lay the eggs... They get weak so they need it... Make sure she has enough food /water

Of course daddy isnt giving kisses hugs, but feeding mommy who has to sit on the nest all day long to keep the eggs warm. Daddy is retrieving stocked seeds from his crop (throat area).

Buntly3000 birds don't get "pregnat" that's only mammals. But for birds they don't carry a live baby. All I know is that you can tell when they are going to lay an egg, is when their butt gets swollen and get pant easily. Mostly alot of nesting behavior. One question for you, why can't I tell the sex of my "female" bugie because her nose is a very VERY light purple pink?

Beautiful budgies, do you have them hand trained at all? If so did you find the female harder to train to trust you at first?

I have 2 budgies and I find the female very hostile towards me, she wont eat from my hand even after long periods of waiting for her, she nips a lot too.

The boy is very calm, being hand trained at the moment, eats from my hand no problem. Any tips?

Well, I don't know how you want the LET them, they will if they are together, and I don't think it is cruel to separate them.

My budgies are never kept in a closed door cage (unless my sis, in law, bring her dog to our place) .

For second question I don't know understand what do you mean when you say leave, or leaving them.

Probably you have the wrong type of nest. a budge nest is just a wooden box with a hole on the side.

it would be nice if the bottom of the nest has a saucer shape carved into it so the mother can easily gather the eggs...
