I got to see Giora Schmidt perform this live in Halifax 2 nights ago!

It was amazing.. 3 standing ovations and an encore of Bach's Andante in A minor.

dude, this guy is beast. ive been sitting here waiting for a screw up and he keeps playing all the awkward shifts and notes really really well. his interpretative ability/phrasing is also fantastic. he has articulated parts of this concerto that i have never heard! not to mention that he is a lot of fun to watch

Schmidt is amazing in spite of this orchestra. They and the sound engineer who mic-ed this performance should be shunned by their respective villages.

If you actually listen to Zukerman's recording you'll hear two completely different interpretations, not to mention the fact that Zukerman plays this concerto at a faster tempo than this artist. It's very unattractive when people bad mouth talented artists out of jealousy.

The violinist is not that good because i see him skipping some notes but which is pivotal. However, i loved the orchestra. I think the director wanted to make the song softer than the original version of the Tchaikovsky. well done.

Try not to miss the forest for the trees...

Frankly, it was brilliant. Gorgeous sound, great technique. A few missed notes do not ruin this genuine performance when listening to an artist of this caliber. Overall, one of my favorite interpretations of the piece.
