Shaving is a ploy by the cosmetics industry. There was a massive advertising campaign in the 1920's and 1930's encouraging women to purchase razors and shave their legs. It has gotten more extreme because the larger surface area you shave, the more products you need to purchase.
Eventually, future generations of intelligent young women will recognize this capitalistic social manipulation for what it is, accept the fact that they are naturally beautiful, and stop shaving altogether.
To say that women shave simply because men find it attractive is old-fashioned and completely underestimates the extreme success of the gender equality movement so far. Personal grooming has become more and more extreme for both sexes over the last few decades, adn these days, most men shave the pubic hair and many aslo pluck their eyebrows, shave their armpits, chests etc. Whether you shave or not is a personal choice, you will face a certain amount of criticism, regardless of your gender

Still I think that's all about preferences. I've had shaved myself in the past because I like the feeling of soft skin. I don't like hairy armpits because my clothes get stinks if I get sweaty and I hate that. I think that it's all about freedom of choice. @TheVenerated The porn industry have very little to do with the preference for shaved pubes it's rooted much deeper in our society than that. Just look at the Japanese porn industry where pubic hair is considered the normal. My point is that the porn industry just do whatever sells the best they aren't trying to push anything on us.
And there is nothing wrong with preferring something that isn't natural we do it everywhere, hairstyles, beard, makeup, cut nails, etc, etc...

@TheVenerated Shaved pubes have been common practice in many cultures since Ancient Rome. Changing the porn industry wouldn't stop the preference for shaved pubes.
It's not like anyone is forcing them to shave. It's a very private thing that would only be shared among you and your boyfriend. If your boyfriend can't accept that you don't want to shave then hes most likely an douche anyway and you shouldn't be with him in the first place.

@Thierdox yes but that was for hygiene reasons mostly. i mean pubes were freaking in only 30 yrs ago. a changed image in porn would certainly CHANGE preferences, but of course it wouldnt eradicate them completly. and most women, especially young ones, would feel pressured to lose the map instead of losing their guy, simply coz keeping him seems more important than what they're comfy with. as for forcing them, sure theres no gun to the head, but isnt social pressure a force just as powerful?

@candyrider13 Well, shaving armpits and the "lady triangle" is pretty much just boring and (for those of us unskilled) painful. Plucking eyebrows is ALSO painful and boring (and time consuming) but the creative fun of drawing your own eyebrows with eyeliner does make up for that :)
(after all, the only thing you get from shaving down there is suddenly unpadded underwear)

It's so different from anything out there and it mixes the poppy weirdly comical style with Amanda's genuine and talented creativity. I love this song so much, I played it for my mom in the car with out the music video, she asked if it was a woman singing the song. I said "Um of coarse, why?" She was amazed it was a woman. in the end I told my mom that she was a better woman than you.

I think the message stands up. It's great, it's artistic, full of life. And the song is awesome.
Still I think that's all about preferences. I've had shaved myself in the past because I like the feeling of soft skin. I don't like hairy armpits because my clothes get stinks if I get sweaty and I hate that. I think that it's all about freedom of choice. The great part is to realize that actually, you are free to choose for yourself, and this song and video makes clear of their choice. Great!

@romanticcatastrophe There's nothing wrong with the point of view that armpit hair isn't attractive. I myself am of the opinion... I'm an eighteen year-old guy and I shave mine, and if you have a problem with ME having a problem with her armpit hair, I say fuck you. Not all girls shave because 'that is what men like' (another hint: it isn't always what men like, either) - shaving is hygienic, attractive, and really not that hard or painful, other than that first time.

@gradster1 With all due respect, there is the pressure to shave or whatever especially in summer for women (ahem bikinis and swimming costumes). There's nothing UNhygienic about having pubes and not shaving. Just have a wash everyday... simples.
