FEMA has one now that tramps around and fuels itself on organic waste. It can 'eat' anything organic including human bodies. Think how handy that might come in. They won't even have to send humans in, they can just send one robot to kill you and one to get rid of the waste.

of course but things like that will be implemented once it becomes necessary. right now they are just doing a study of human interaction with robotics. the focus isn't on how they can make the robot commercial friendly. im sure other company's are more focused on that aspect of the robotics already.

I've worked in preschools and observed children behaving similarly (putting them to bed when they stop talking/giggling, covering them over when they're done playing, etc.) with objects not nearly as high tech. I saw nothing that would make me particularly believe that they're interacting as peers rather than with a child-toy relationship.
