  • I bet it was like an avatar robot, so it was controlled by a human.

  • This is so damn cute.

  • so cool!

  • I think its cute they treated the robot as a human c:

  • @ibitethedust How about when the robot kills everyone in the preschool?

  • These kids don't appreciate that they get to hang out with QRIO :(

  • This is the kind of tolerence we need to teach our children.

  • @EmilyDreamed

Not to much tolerance through, we don't want them to think everything and everyone is acceptable. I know I will teach my kids not to hang out with snobs or gangsters.

  • sooo, who else thinks the machines will kill us all.....this is why we need arnold as president.....he would fucking stop them!

  • @chucknorrisgawd First of all, why do u think robots will take over the world? Don't they only do that in MOVIES? When has a robot or machine actually try to take over the world in real life? SECOND of all, I wouldn't want a lying, cheating, unfaithful bastard like that running the country. I USED TO BE HIS BIGEST FAN, but no, there's not a decent politician in this country.

  • @AutoTerminator technology isn't advanced enough yet.....And Arnold is awesome regardless of all that nonsense

  • @chucknorrisgawd yup Arnold is awesome regardless that he cheated on his wife so many times and was a total ass to her, and he's awesome even though he's an arrogant cocky bastard.

  • Respond to this video... and if u haven't noticed, technology advances VERY fast.

  • Respond to this video... adn Schwarzennegger can't be president cuz he wasn't born in America.

  • @AutoTerminator no shit.

  • Ah... To be a child... So full of love that even what is seen as unreal could be a friend... To be so nondiscriminatory that ugly... Race... Deformity... Invalidity... didn't exist...

Truly that would be peace, to be nothing but a child...

  • @DreadGir But alas, everyone grows up and turns into assholes.

  • Toddlers are so tolerant they don't even discriminate against robots

  • If these toddlers only knew, that this thing would someday destroy mankind. Tisk Tisk

  • @intarwebuser what is "real", just because we made it and made it simulate feelings and emotions dosnt mean it dosnt have them. To simulate or the actually do somthing are the same thing. A program or a chemical reaction in a brain.. Makes no difference, he is as real as anyone else.

  • sucks for the kids these adults forced them to grow up to become retards lol

  • awwww!!!

  • Get a new presenter, This guys boring as shit.

  • @ilovecake213 agreed...

  • Heh, kids'll do that with stuffed toys, too. It's cute, but doesn't prove the robot fooled them into thinking it was "real" just because they treated it as "real".

  • skyney has infiltrateed us kids(john conner) (in kindergarden)

  • ONE OF US! ONE OF US!

  • Blankie over the robot and say "night-night"

    That is SO cute ^^

  • wow those videos about robots scare me more and more...

  • They should work their way up to highschool.

  • thats quite cute

  • skynet is self aware

  • Yeah.. but children would also accept a dead and diseased rat.

  • @jacksawild

HE'S NOT DEAD!! HE'S JUST... different?

  • @jacksawild You actually have a point, albeit im not sure about specifically a dead rat but they would pretty much bond like that to anything, the only thing is that the movement of the robot requires less imagination.

  • y do people think robots are going to take over lol even if it become like a actually human or animal hell just throw some water on it or take a magnet to it lol it will be destroyed.

  • @Mattxmillen the time when robots are able to take over... will be the time when robots are water proof and magnet proof lol.... like my computer screen wont get effected by a magnet... obviously a future doomsday robot wont either

  • @Mattxmillen but what if they take away our water and magnets first

  • First children then people... wait, did I say people? I meant SHEEPLE!!! MUAHAAHAHHAhahaha....

  • They accpeted him into their tribe. : >

  • they're barbaric child ways lol

  • hahhahahha i was thinking the exact same thing.

  • ahhh the mind of a child so easily fooled... everyone knows robots dont need blankets to sleep

  • the point isn't that the children don't realize he's a robot. rather, it's the fact that the robot is similar enough for the children to accommodate it psychologically as a sentient companion.

  • @Necromonger27 Everyone knows robots don't need sleep...

  • Sorry to disappoint you but my son does the same thing with a doll my mum knitted for him and at considerably less expense! (incidently he's 18 and getting professional medical help - but that's another story)

  • cute!!! XD

  • Toddlers, I belive there is a robot among us. -Sticks candy cigerette into mount-

  • @Iwubspore haha XD

  • sooo cute

  • so CUTE! I WANT ONE!

  • Nice. :D

  • XDDDD

  • lulz xD

  • ure right and usually the ones who r right get thumbs down XD

  • pretty awesome step towards robotics, after all robotics and arificial intelligence will be apart of our future

  • Gotta be careful to have a suppressive measure though. Lord knows what might happen if it got too far.

  • LOL! You have an active imagination :D

  • if the robot can learn and lay down wen power is low or out then cant u program it to lay on a wireless charger like ones made for i pods fones with like shoe covers... almost as if could be in houses for people use almost like i robot???

  • of course but things like that will be implemented once it becomes necessary. right now they are just doing a study of human interaction with robotics. the focus isn't on how they can make the robot commercial friendly. im sure other company's are more focused on that aspect of the robotics already.

  • they are more focused on the profit they'll get in the end rather than the product being able to maintain itself.

when the product is perfected and manufactured for home use. the upgrade of programming it to maintain its own power will be a costly and profitable upgrade.

i hate when wankers get in control of science and revert it to shit business as usual.

  • thats cool

  • Haha! One step closer to the singularity...!

  • some people think it will happen around 2030

  • Good for you: you've heard the name Kurzweil and watched a few documentaries on youtube, and now you think you can just pop-off to some random stranger and assume he's completely ignorant to what he's referencing. Nice one asshole.

    a) if you had exerted more than one lobe you would have seen it was a wry remark, a 'joke'.

    b) second, it'll happen sooner! Comp. Engineers are modeling new cpus around the design of the human brain. The moment that happens = the singularity. Don't talk down 3 me.

  • Just in case you're also a pernicious stickler, YOUCUTMELEGOFF, let me break it down. Individuals like Jeff Walker (and to a lesser degree, Craig Venter) have discovered just how efficient cpus would be if they functioned in an augmented version of the human cognitive process. That is, structuring RAM (or the successor thereof) around the redundant memory structure (the kind that associates memory with non-contextual data. When they perfect neuro-computer science in 15 yrs you'll see what I mean

  • Why are you angry at me? I wasn't making an accusation at you I was just repeating someones opinion. there is no need for insults. you could have made your points and I would have appreciated the feedback. why the hostility?

  • 2029

  • I'm sure they had to scrap this thing after a full day with the kids. They didn't show you those parts.

  • Comment removed

  • Haha, so cute.

  • Ha ha. That is soooo cutely cool!

  • Children will jump kick Qrio and say night night. lol

  • what ever happened to bringing a dog to school. Spose it won't lick itself and poop on the carpet!!!

  • exactly

  • LOL. I LOVE 00:13 WHEN THE ADULT PUSHES THE KID AWAY FROM QRIOS HEAD. Notice the "researchers" didn't let the kids touch him too much (QRIO is $40k) - lol, next time, DO A REAL RESEARCH PROJECT.

  • You leave a several thousand dollar high tech piece of electronic in the hands of 5 year olds and you're bound to see disastrous effects.

  • Can it self wrong???

  • Most of the kids here would push it over. Can it self right?

  • when it falls forward it can. I don't know about when it falls in other directions though...

  • i dont think it can get up off the sides but it can get up from the front and back ways

  • Wow! I wish there was a longer clip of this.

  • not much different than how they'd treat a toy anyway.

  • or how young girls comb and potty train their piss-on-you dollys

  • I've always loved Qrio

  • ahhhhhhh it's so cute when the give him a blanket

  • the robot takeover has begun. we're all doomed. We should start digging giant tunnels and caves for rockin' dance parties now.

  • I'm in!

  • no,

    "we're doooomed, doooooooomed!" (c)

  • Just think, when the terminators or cyclons come, you can just pat them on the head and they'll giggle and stop killing you. :)

  • looooooool funny :)

  • but what if they wear hats!!!!!

  • -The Matrix

  • at that age, I don't think they know any different.

  • How is this any different than how a little girl would treat a doll?

  • Clear thinking!

  • thats the sony ps3 lets see the xbox do that!

  • that's adorable but freaky at the same time

  • I had a lecture on this the other day at UCSD =>

  • how adorable

  • wrong :)

  • But how is this different from how children would react to a similar toy--say, a "Tickle-me-Elmo" or some such? I've worked in preschools and observed children behaving similarly (putting them to bed when they stop talking/giggling, covering them over when they're done playing, etc.) with objects not nearly as high tech. I saw nothing that would make me particularly believe that they're interacting as peers rather than with a child-toy relationship.

  • So... does it have a Blu-Ray player?

  • Yeah, but he was sitting on the slot where you insert the disk

  • all that seems so sweet and cute!

  • Not just kids, I'd react the same to such an adorable little piece of mass production ^o^!

  • Just goes to show how human-like a robot can become, obviously a more sophisticated robot would be able to 'fool' the more sophisticated brain of an adult.

  • I want to know more about this experiment.

  • More videos too!

  • Yep, kids are pretty stupid.

  • I wanted to see it giggle!!

  • I wanted to see it giggle!!

  • Sadly for all of us Sony Canned QRIO :(
