i bet you just dit use this game on the american nes,cuzz the nes does,nt support the naccessarry ext soundpins input,so obviousely sounds very very infirior,cuzz this game was even never officially released in japan,however.
Well, I don't know how many RPGs Konami had translated to English, but this was a lot of text for the fan-trans team, judging from their notes, plus it is harder than, say, Final Fantasy 2, which didn't get translated either.
They could have re-scored the music if they really wanted to export it, but it is also based on a Japanese folk story, so, they probably thought nobody would be interested in it.

Any Famicom game will work in an American NES just the games that use the special sound chips won't play the extra channels the game provides.
