The whole reason I have a stoma is due to emergency pancreatitis... they opened me up about 8 times over the course of 4 weeks. A wound-vac was used in place of staples/stitches to keep things as closed up as possible.
Most of my pancreas was removed, along with a couple feet of necrotic small intestine, and a section of my colon.
They should be able to improve the scar. I have been operated on about 15 times over 13 yrs and all i have is a faint line.
Is it because the type of operation?
