  • i have this same camera but my computer reads it but wont capture the footage. How did u do it?

  • did you sell this on skateperception yet?

  • how much are you selling it for? i might wanna buy it,

  • @dcrdvd650 650+shipping, will come with 5 brand new tapes, original box, original cards and manuals, original wires and a small camera bag. I can throw in a JVC hardcase that was made specifically for his camera for an additional 50+shipping. If you want pictures you can email me FortunateFew@hotmail

  • @FortunateFew ehh dud ive seen it go for 475

  • do you recommend this camera for skating. also you can upload in HD and stadard?

  • @GladstoneBerrics

Yeah id recommend it. Im actually selling mine, im getting a 7d soon so i wont need this one. I have some hd footage on my vimeo page. Same SN. You if you film in sd you should render as sd if you film in hd you can render as both.

  • From their website.. "

CCD Program for This Model - GR-HD1US

JVC has received reports that in certain circumstances, this model may, while in the camera mode, show no picture, a distorted picture and/or display LENS CAP even though the lens cap is removed. We have identified the probable cause as a failure of the CCD image sensor"

  • I wish I never bought this camera. Nothing but problems. Lens kept shutting off. It wasn't true HD. It was fixed 3 times for various problems. Only works on XP. Vista wont recconize it. I searched for the driver and it doesnt exist.

  • @MrChameleon2010 What do you mean the lens kept shutting off? Imovie on the Mac recognizes it no problem. What software are you running on your pc? I heard Vegas and Premiere run the camera just fine. I havent figured out how to get it to upload on Final Cut but i know its possible. The drive comes on a CD that came with the camera.

  • @FortunateFew Do you ever get a message that says "remove lens cap" even when it is off? It's a censor in the lens that was a factory defect. But that was for the model GR-HD1us.

  • @MrChameleon2010 I only get that message when my len cap is still on. That sounds like an expensive problem to fix.

  • @FortunateFew google the problem. Tons of people had it. you might have got a later version of the camera. But thousands were manufactured with that problem. They fixed it for free but then my start switched popped off. It will cost at least 500 bucks to fix, I was told. For a 20 dollar switch and maybe a half hour job. They seem to make more then Doctors.

  • does your camera have XLR imputs?

  • @poondoonproductions

The jvc gr-hd1 doesnt have XLR inputs, but there is a thing you can buy to add them and later sinc the sound in editing.

  • @FortunateFew could u recomend one? or if you dont use one, then thats cool. tnx

  • @poondoonproductions I dont use one but its called the H4N Zoom. Im going to be getting one for my next camera set up (7D) My JVC/hardcase/death lens/raynox lens + more are for sale.

  • do u have a fisheye for this

  • yeah i have a raynox fisheye 58mm fisheye but it sucks. im upgrading to and Opteka .3x 58mm or 78mm. then hopefully a century optics lens.

  • @FortunateFew okay cool. did you have to buy a filter

  • i needs a 52-58mm step up ring. you get find them for cheap on ebay but it will take a week or two to get it. you can buy a step up ring/filter at best buy for close to 12 dollars once you get it you dont need to break the glass you can unscrew a small sheild which will release the filter.

  • @FortunateFew okay thanks man uve been a huge help

  • so is the lens on this camera 52 or 58mm

  • 52mm

  • Don't get a 72mm if its got 52mm threads :P

your widest options would be a babydeath with a 52-37 ring like they do on the TRV900's or an Opteka 52mm death. Or an MK1 screw.

  • im planning on getting the mkII but if that doesnt work out im getting the opteka. probably the 58mm. I hate to see vig so if i got a bigger size i could zoom through vig caused by the spacers.

  • Don't worry about vignetting with death lenses man, and don't zoom through either. go for an Opteka 58mm, you won't get any vignetting or nothing. Vig is good though, the more vig you get the wider it will be, so Opteka death with 2 spacers would make a substantial difference in width.

  • fosho, i just think vig is "unprofessional" looking. but if i dont get the death lens by the end of next month i'll just settle for the opteka.

  • trudat, just save on the opteka and get an external mic or a video light.. an opteka is the exact same thing as an mk2 but half the price.. only difference is that the opteka sometimes gets little lens flares but the look cool.

  • wrong, its ok to zoom into vig, as long as its not a raymod fisheye, also, you sometimes do get vig with the opteka 58mm mk2 even though if there are no spacers or bayo, it depends on the camera, also, its not true that the more vig you get the wider it will be, once you start to see the vig that shows the wideness and once you see the full circle vig the image cant get any wider you would just make the vig ring widerAlsodo you have this camera? how do you know 2 spacers is good? itmightbetomch

  • I can tell, the camera although having 52mm threads does not have a large lens like that of say, a Sony VX1000.. which means it is not going to pick up as much of the larger lens as the VX would, 2 spacers is a rough estimate.

And no, zooming through a fisheye will make the camera go SLIGHTLY out of focus because fisheye lenses aren't made to be zoomed through. My friend has to zoom through the vignetting on his DVX100b and Mk2 and it depletes the quality.

  • oh ya thats true about the zooming, but you can always use manual focus once you zoom, and you should ALWAYS manual focus when using a fisheye

  • nice. i skateboard but i dont hate on what people like to do.

  • lol i filmed that and there were caps on the rails they were taken off

  • nice camera. u guys live in poway or san diego?? if so get back to me we should ride!

  • Im from nor-cal, i'll be moving to SD hopefully in December.

  • well if u do hit me up dude we should ride

  • My plans actually changed im moving to the LA area for a year but im still trying to move to SD after that. I'll be out in san diego at least 1 once a month starting december so we can still skate.

  • thats a sick, was it capped?

and when you film with your HD1 can you hold it from the top bar with the hot shoe on it or will it like snap?

  • you can hold it from the handle thats what its made for. it wasnt capped but it had so many dents in the rail from bikers.

  • ohh yeah i heard all the like dents as he went over it or whatever and thats cool i wasn't sure because it wasn't connected towards the front just at the beginning, thanks

  • wtf? isnt this in so cal?

  • yeah in Poway/San Diego.
