I think it was overall a great job, maybe practice it some more and re-record, I would LOVE to hear a second try, I bet it would come out twice as beautiful! *some criticism*, you hit that one note in the middle out of no where...
@MrLethedethius I agree I should probably just take this one down, I don't think it really needs to be up anymore as there are so many other people doing much better versions of it. I just put it up originally to show my friends what I'd been up to lately. Definitely outlived that purpose by now!
What rather amazes me is the number of times this track is reproduced on YouTube. It was just an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.......and it aired before many of the people reproducing it were fully aware of what they were watching on television!
I think that this episode, along with some parts of the whole series, will live forever.
Very nice. Do you happen to know if Irish flutes have the same fingerings as concert flutes? Because if they don't my parents probably won't let me get one. XD Very beautiful sound.
Nice but everyone misses that ending he plays when the enterprise flies off in space and you hear the eerie ending part to the song inner light which really makes it great
did you do this by ear? if you did not could you photocopy the sheet music for me. I am a very big star trek fan, and have seen ever episode of every series. I am now watching Earth Final Conflict idea of Gene Roddenberry...
Decent wood ones go for $150 US and up (most basic models I see, with keys, seem to be no lower than $300) but there are some more affordable options out there, like Doug Tipple's $50 PVC Irish flutes that go for about $50-60. I modeled mine after his. But watch out for "bargains" on eBay from Pakistan--most are good for nothing more than decorating a shelf.
Playing simple melodies on an Irish flute like I do is easy. Fingering is simple (no keys usually) and they produce tone easily and with little breath. But playing the Celtic and traditional Irish tunes on it as it's intended is very hard. Most of it is still way too fast for me to play yet!

You just inspired me to build a flute out of PVC. I had never even thought myself capable of such. :)

How did you construct your homemade PVC flute?

sorry for the slow response, I'm only just now realizing YouTube rejected any comments I posted that listed websites!
Look up "Doug Tipple Flute" on Google. His site is excellent for learning what you need to know to build your own!
