There IS a difference between being truly saved, and being ASSURED of that salvation. To examine one's self is not to be in sin. Therefore, to doubt one's intentions, to doubt one's standing, is to prepare for this examination.
The Westminster does not condone unlawful partaking of the sacrament, it simply indicates that those who are examining themselves should not be refused admittance.
You only want to take the relatively modern usage of the word DOUBT and "to the wind" with any other (such as, examination, which would have been intended, more so, by the framers of the Westminster).

As both a reformed jew(mother) and presbyterian pcusa (father), I could not even talk to you. As a member of the reformed church Presbyterians are rather liberal in our views. I am of the Radical Grace school of thought which states that all people are saved, hell is a state of mind of your own making, and ALL PEOPLE should have a equal voice in the life of the church.

As an engineer and mathematician, I say that the antiChristian Rome and the Reformers are asymptotic is not true. There are some similarities which are vastly outnumbered by the differences.
