abillity of the Star ocean second story charactors.
And because of this its not nearly as good as Second story!

Who thought it was a good idea to hire this woman? Her conclusion was two minutes long and extremely repetitive. I would be able to handle this review if she was hot, but sadly that's not the case. This game is awesome; no justice was given in this review.
i was kind of hoping that the background music would slowly get increasingly louder to the point of drowning out her talking....i could kinda tell that is was starting to.....i was about ready to hit the floor laughing......knowing that the sound crew was possibly saying to each other: "alright...one of you man the controls and slowly increase the sound output so we cant hear her anymore" :)
@daavpuke Your forgetting that star oceon 3 is the absolute worst star ocean of them all. 1 and 2 are fantastic. 3 sucks horribly, and ruins the whole idea of the mystery in the plot, and Star ocean 4 was better in battle system and plot, yet still nothing compared to Star ocean 1 + 2.

Not to spoil it, but you know why. And 3's characters were above and beyond better than 4's.

Hate how lame Edge Maverick is in the SO4 game. He doesn't have any cool moves besides making a another sword for a short dual-wielding combo. At least Fayt had his invincible side kick move, Dimension Door was cool to especially the last part where he warps out of no where and slashes with purple shit. My personal favorite was Air Raid. Who could forget the move where he jumps into the air, grows angel wings and fucks your face with HYPER BEAM!!!!!!!!!!!! Fayt: I'm chargin mah lazer!!!!!!

I mainly control Fayt, especially if I'm using Nel and Cliff, they do perfect by themselves, sometimes I have to use nel's healing symbology on herself, but for the most part the ai is awesome in this game.

It was by no means a smooth merger and Bethany M was the community manager of the boards. GS's boards had different abilities and they used dirty tactics to fuck over Gfaqs users and get them banned. Bethany M just made poor choices and was sadly the face attatched to the mess....and look at her she looks like doo doo.

I actually think i got stuck on this game; it was good but i couldnt figure what the hell to do; and being so young i had no idea of the internet's usage so i believe i traded it in, kinda wished i kept it. I think i was on train tracks or in a cave. The future settings was awesome, but going back into the past sucked, which was like most of the game...
lol i had to start over the game like 4 times before i actually got the hand of it. few reasons have to be cuz of my lack of having a ps2 as well as a stable working memory card. actually believe it or not i didnt turn to the net for any help lol. I pretty much went with instinct on it. ofcourse after a while i actually decided to get the game guide for few items and getting certain attacks. 2 player mode is freaking amazing!

Never went 2 player. I would get the game again but Star Ocean has always been like an underselling series with good and bad points, i think. This was really good, but i think i quit as the flaws beagan, unless you went back to space after it

i think she is a bad reviewer. leveling up is really not as monotonous as she makes it out to be. you don't have to do much outside leveling, just fight the enemies you come across during the course of the game. I will say that some of the boss fights are extremely difficult though, but you just have to come up with a strategy and see what works...also, some of the dungeons are ridiculously long and at times gets frustrating, but i still love this game.
I loveded this game 8) I can't wait for the 4th to come out! And I can kinda agree about Character choice. I mean like wtf? Adray? A slow old man who's kinda pointless to the plot of the game. And Mirage, same as Cliff. To me, IDK even why they put those two in there. I think I'd much rather had Pepitta and Roger in there instead. But that's what I think. For me SO3 wasn't as bad as a 4.1/10, but it wasn't exactly a high scoring game either. I felt that the music was great, but the graphics were average. Also, some of the fights got a little repetitive. I found Side Kick spams to be more or less the only move I needed. And also, that stupid - SPOILERS - Matrix style plot twist. Really. What the hell was the point of that? ~_~
Yeah the plot twist was horrible. The characters were overall just...BAD. Fayt was a whiny little bitch. I hated his guts. The gameplay was repetitve. The entire game is like this:
SIDE KICK
AIR RAID
SIDE KICK
AIR RAID etc.
Plus...MP Death. What. The. Hell. I hated that add-on. Hopefully Star Ocean 4 can fix these problems, but from the looks of it, I don't think it's gonna be fixed. There's a reason why this game didn't do well in Japan. Everyone should be ashamed for liking this Travesty!
MP is your magic as you may know. you can take HP and MP damage from enemies. So when your MP is to reduce 0 you die the same as if it was your HP. The player can kill his opponents the same way if the enemies HP 5 million while MP is 10000.<--that is some fake stats there is no boss like that i think. but that is the what a MP kill is.
This game was amazing. I was all about battle system and the story was........uh, different. I was disappointed when i found out that i can forge and item for my sword to give it +500 attack tho, i think it was orchamanium or something like that. i got 8 of them and then just dominated. I one shotted all enemies except for bosses.

I think i was on train tracks or in a cave. The future settings was awesome, but going back into the past sucked, which was like most of the game...

lol i had to start over the game like 4 times before i actually got the hand of it. few reasons have to be cuz of my lack of having a ps2 as well as a stable working memory card. actually believe it or not i didnt turn to the net for any help lol. I pretty much went with instinct on it. ofcourse after a while i actually decided to get the game guide for few items and getting certain attacks. 2 player mode is freaking amazing!

Never went 2 player. I would get the game again but Star Ocean has always been like an underselling series with good and bad points, i think. This was really good, but i think i quit as the flaws beagan, unless you went back to space after it

WTF! This game is awesome, no door by door fighting rpg. it has story, combat, and after a wile you just can't stop playing this game, i played all the way to 5 am one. it is a amazing game, 10.0

It's similiar to the Tales of Battle System.
2 different Company's who have games with have a Battle System that has many similiar elements in each other... That means, that if i or someone else made a game with such battle system; it will be No: COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT :D

i think she is a bad reviewer. leveling up is really not as monotonous as she makes it out to be. you don't have to do much outside leveling, just fight the enemies you come across during the course of the game. I will say that some of the boss fights are extremely difficult though, but you just have to come up with a strategy and see what works...also, some of the dungeons are ridiculously long and at times gets frustrating, but i still love this game.

I loveded this game 8) I can't wait for the 4th to come out! And I can kinda agree about Character choice. I mean like wtf? Adray? A slow old man who's kinda pointless to the plot of the game. And Mirage, same as Cliff. To me, IDK even why they put those two in there. I think I'd much rather had Pepitta and Roger in there instead. But that's what I think. I know some people like them, but if they didnt put the 2 in the first time. Why the directors cut? o-o;;

This game has great gameplay but everything else was crap. The main character was lame. The story had some of the most ridiculous plot twists. And seriously, what the hell is with that ending?

I love it how somebody says one bad thing and all of a sudden the fanboys lynch him.
For me SO3 wasn't as bad as a 4.1/10, but it wasn't exactly a high scoring game either. I felt that the music was great, but the graphics were average. Also, some of the fights got a little repetitive. I found Side Kick spams to be more or less the only move I needed. And also, that stupid - SPOILERS - Matrix style plot twist. Really. What the hell was the point of that? ~_~
I myself would say 7/10 ish.

Yeah the plot twist was horrible. The characters were overall just...BAD. Fayt was a whiny little bitch. I hated his guts. The gameplay was repetitve. The entire game is like this:
SIDE KICK
AIR RAID
SIDE KICK
AIR RAID etc.
Plus...MP Death. What. The. Hell. I hated that add-on. Hopefully Star Ocean 4 can fix these problems, but from the looks of it, I don't think it's gonna be fixed. There's a reason why this game didn't do well in Japan. Everyone should be ashamed for liking this Travesty!

MP is your magic as you may know. you can take HP and MP damage from enemies. So when your MP is to reduce 0 you die the same as if it was your HP. The player can kill his opponents the same way if the enemies HP 5 million while MP is 10000.<--that is some fake stats there is no boss like that i think. but that is the what a MP kill is.

This game was amazing. I was all about battle system and the story was........uh, different. I was disappointed when i found out that i can forge and item for my sword to give it +500 attack tho, i think it was orchamanium or something like that. i got 8 of them and then just dominated. I one shotted all enemies except for bosses.
