There are a number of us Yanks whose ancestor's original homeland was Scotland, like myself, and get teary eyed at the sound of bagpipes! Scotland the Brave Forever! Hail our traditional Allies past, present and future!
Yeah, so we're Yanks and we clap? We're also Scots and VERY PROUD of it, and that's how WE celebrate OUR heritage, laddie. LOCH MOIGH and STEWART FOREVER, y'all!!!
@chriskell9 That's a major bugbear of mine. I'm a musician & in Germanic countries they seem to wan't to clap on every beat. Which while still horrible for marches, is excruciating for Jazz.
is it jist me but does the clapping get oan yer wick? hauf the time they're oot o' beat and kinda spoils it, fantastic display of these Brave Soldiers. love the pipes and drums Pride of Scotland
@sabaton12341 Being partly of the same landmass does not make us the same nation, we all have our own origin, history, flags, anthems, culture, ways etc.
@segano1 of course it doesn't. my comment was simply highlighting that putting up all these divisions of borders and states would be couter-productive. united we stand, dived we fall and all that.
@SupernautG No, a lot of German marches include people clapping. They use the strict German 110bpm "triple beat", and were composed for the "Stechschritt" Prussian goosestep, which, when a regiment passes in review, makes a distinctive "rock crushing" sound. The clapping imitates that sound. Even up till the 1980s, Marching music composed in the erstwhile east german used the same distinctive German triple beat, and East German troops passed in review "im exerzieschritt", ie, goosestepping.
I have to say on a personal level I actually enjoy Black Bear better than Scotland the Brave, but both are so well played here. I never tire of the site of the massed bands, thanks for sharing this.
@HilosPainting watch the Trooping the Colour - Queen's Birthday Parade, both Scotland the Brave and Black Bear were played by the Scots Guards during the royal procession :) It's amazing!
@BlainePistolle you would be surprised of how much i know in some domains but unfortunately about Scottish culture not too much so instead of giving me this answer from a frustrated fucktard you could have explain to me in the short way, but i guess you're nothing but a stupid troll. PS : ohh i forgot, stupid troll its a redundancy or same thing ;)
@kytanokyle you talk alot, shut the hell up. troll? no. NO one calls a kilt a skirt, you were the one who went to this video, and insulted everyone wearing their countries garment. and IM the prick?
@BlainePistolle you fuckin idiot, i told you that coz i dont know the culture so i asked nicely but i guess your a real frustrated SOB. I talk as much i want bitch and you dont have the right to shut me up. Thx god you're not next to me coz i would have smashed your fuckin head coz i heat retard fucks like you. You're like those imbecile Americans, dickhead. Go fuck yourself... and with your "kilt" too. I guess asking/ speaking nicely with you doesnt work , nationalist fucktard.
@ElemixZero and aren't they stupid ? Ohh btw forget about smart ppl exceptions which are from whole USA => 5% ;) Americans just use HR from other countries to evolve instead of having their own ideas so in other facts US Led-companies are stealing Inteligence so ... besides this minor thing, original born US ppl are in general retard, from culture and basic knowledge points of view. (info about US ppl is certified and i'm not talking trash here; check statistics)
@kytanokyle Well its usually the southern states that give us the 'stupid & fat' stereotype. You also have to remember every state is sorta like a small country within one big one.
Although do you have a links to any of your sources?
@naughtygirl3797 Also that is a faulse statement, we would not be speaking German, learn your history& before you try and correct me I have a PhD in History.
@BlainePistolle ohh sorry, i forgot Americans are from English idiots => real fags, trolls and lazy SOB and of course they wanna have the last word even they are dumbfucks.
the kilt is a ancient garment before trousers had been invented or used in Scotland, origanal it was yards and yards of cloth that wrapped around the body and hips,it was also useful as a blanket in cold weather which we have plenty of in Scotland,it was more a practical thing for the time, most cloth was dyed with different plant colors donating which family /clan you belonged to,,and yes its very insulting calling it a skirt the english say it all the time to us Scots.
@belindakennedy Thx for the info and i didn;t knew i was insulting the Scots. BTW i'm not an UK born citizen and i have to admit that you've explained better than the rest arrogant idiots from youtube which just wait to be insulted or to be provoked. Cheers ;)
@belindakennedy Before 'trousers had been invented'? Are you joking? You mean a bit of fabric covering the thighs and calfs? Absolutely clueless. The kilt was used solely in the highlands because of the hilly terrain; lowlanders only adopted it as a mark of 'Scotishness' after the Celtic Revival of the 19th century before then they wore 'trousers' like everyone else (what's the utility of wearing a kilt in the lowlands?).
i guess the clapping in general is ok. at this video, the cameras mic brings the clapping a bit too much in foreground. my first reaction 2 this was, "make this stop". but its a real life video and part of the show. thanks 4 upload!
@flargle1967 I love them already. Nothing like the sound of pipes and drums. Get's the heart beating that little bit faster and stirs one to the core. Simply magnificent.
Long live the united kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Down with the snp's and alex salmond's divisive, seperatist nonsense. We made it to the top of the world united, we wont let alex salmond make us weaker divided!
Thanks a million for posting, Laddie. I'm of Irish & Scottish-Canadian decent, and 3 years ago was wed to a woman from Brazil. For the wedding, I hired the Chicago Highlanders, (3 Pipers & 1 snare drummer) and as I entered the service with my Best Man, the band preceded us playing "Scotland the Brave". I dare say, it was a most memorable ceremony. P.S. The guy who commented below, and dissed the clapping, probably didn't have goose-bumps, either.
Great video, I'd love to attend in person one day. Thank you "Monarchist1952" for sharing... (The "Pipes" always move me) It's not a wonder Highlanders have always marched in to battle with heads held high and bayonets at the ready.
If people are enjoying the music so much they want to clap, let them bloody clap! FFS!
