Why would anyone really care about Black folks sitting in a church pew working out painfully, stubbornly, all of the reactionary theology that was sold to them to keep them silent in the first place? This "secular Jesus" that modern America invented isn't about living well, it's an alibi. You can attack your family, loved ones, etc., for primacy among them. What else would it be, considering the source? Whether we be black; white, gay, straight, whatever, A hustle is a hustle. Got game?
You're bang on! As you say he preaches its a sin until he can make money out of it. You said he preaches against gays to give a good sermon & unfortunately thats because hate in certain circumstances is received well. The congregation need a release & they feel vindicated as 1 person in the bible said that gays are a sin. Its an easy target as they don't hate on people who shop on the sabbath or women who wear trousers/jeans (mens clothing) also in the bible. Its easier to hate someone else.
Interesting... but I gotta confess... the music was distracting. I had a real problem trying to concentrate on what you were saying. I do not if it has anything to do with the fact that I am a musician and think about music most of the time. LOL. Just saying.
Blacks do not have the monopoly on hypocrisy in the church. It's everyone and everywhere. Plus, I think the ones that judge the most, have the most issues themselves.
@1norville--I agree. I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with judging though. If you're judging someone's behavior and deciding whether it's something you want for you, I think it can be quite beneficial. I think the problem comes when we use church or the Bible to judge and condemn people when, if folks knew the truth about the lives WE live, they'd go running for the hills. We're all on a journey and most of us have "issues" or challenges that we're trying to overcome.
these people who acting the fool in church are not the true church of God real christian rely on the holy spirit seek his face and strive to live holy the more you give your attention to God and obeying the less time you have time to sin
Yes, the hypocrisy is out of control in all these churches, it's all one BIG LIE!! these people are crazy and they try to make you twice the son of hell that they are...I agree with you 100% and it all needs to stop. When will the REAL CHURCH arise and be who she is? that's what I wanna know...cuz all these fakes are not for me! God Bless.
It's even worse than the points that you've made. There are pastors boning several women of the congregation, getting some of them pregnant. Some of them are on the DL themselves. They are lying, drinking, beating their wife, kids, etc., and men in the black conscious community are taking over the helm but are doing the same damn things behind their 'self-righteous' facade! I have more respect for an openly gay, bi, tri person than these weak ass broke uncle tom niggas, they are true parasites!
@Stardomchild--I agree. It's so much easier to deal with someone that's open about their situation, right out the gate. It says a lot about their character. In my opinion, it also speaks to the way they deal with people in general. I think religion is used as a shield. It allows people to live by one set of rules, while having a completely different set, by which they judge others.
@onebadgs400--"Easter Christian"? I grew up in my family's church. Please try not to assume. And I'm not trying to preach, I'm simply sharing an observation.
@fatchickskinny Look at the way onebadgs400 addressed you, in such a non-christian way. It baffles me how much some christians lack the spirit of understanding and communication and how developed they are in being judgmental and disrespectful. Thank you for being consistently lady-like and thank you for sharing your views
@Topeblaxploitation--Thank you so much! I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, even when they're being less kind to me. Thanks for watching my videos.
I JUST HAD TO COME BACK AGAIN! I have been full circle having been raised in a black church but spent most of my life in white and mixed congregations. I can truly say that the Charasmatic Movement never knew "holiness." After thirty years, I am keenly aware that ONLY THE BLACK CHURCH EMBRACES AND STILL PREACHES HOLINESS OR HELL! The WHITE CHURCH has failed God; sin is overlooked. Look at TBN and other high profiled leaders both black and white.
Hypocrisy is NOT in the Black Church; it is in the church! The Church is a building, so it cannot sin. If you are referencing worshippers who gather in the name of Christ then ALL OF THEM are probably not hypocrites. YOU ALSO LOST CREDIBILITY WHEN YOU ALLUDED HOW YOU USED TO GO TO A BLACK CHURCH. WHAT YOU ARE NOW SAYING IS THAT YOU GOT IT RIGHT BY GOING TO A WHITE CHURCH. YOU ARE TRULY CONFUSED! Everyone would agree that there is hypocrisy in some christians.
Jesus completed it on the cross. The peace of God however, we struggle with. It has to do with disciplining ourselves (sanctification) and we all have a long way to go with that. I have come to the understanding that we all have things that we are attracted to that are not pleasing to God. That's where our hypocrisy is revealed. From the pastor to the body as a whole.
A black Pastor in Killeen Texas, kicked a gay organist off his ministry..I can't agree that all Pastors condone homosexuality and preach against it..This is a true fact.. His congregation isn't large, but he is an awesome Pastor, and loves his work for the Lord..People need to put more focus on the Message and apply it to their lives and Not go to Church to focus on the people or the Messenger..It interfers with your worship and Personal Relationship with Jesus Christ..
now if it was the case how long do u think it will last, we dont know but i say if we care about wat u do in christ, alot of people take it like dont judge me but ur not judging u correcting cuz u love them !prov. 27:5 Open rebuke [is] better than secret love.
now this lets me know wat i done is not judging people like that but im doing wat Gods words says!
@studmuscle84--I agree with you, to an extent. I think people feel it is corrective to love the sinner and hate the sin, but again, is that not promoting hypocrisy and confusion? How is it possible to love people in bits and pieces? When we decide to "love" don't we usually accept the person and all they bring to the table? And unless someone's behavior has a direct impact on our lives, I'm not really sure that it's possible to "correct" an adult.
All churches are not the same.Only talk about the church that you have attended. God said take all your problem to HIM. I think you need to talk to God about some of the problems you have and he will leave you where you need to be.
All churches donot just run around for money. the church i attend never go out asking for money. we stay as close to what the bible say.
i understand ur point i dont fight against it. we all know christains that are hard on folks and some do push away . those are people who have no people skills and dont eva progress. now for wat he is doing he wonts the u hurt me and imma go start my own church syndrome. ok we love and accept u the same we just dont condone wat u do same way with God he hates sin. meanin u double minded and unstable in all ur ways so u start this love and acceptance to accept christ and do wat u want in christ!
God desires his people to be pure. He calls us to live holy lives, set apart for his glory. 1 Peter 1:16 restates Leviticus 11:44: "Be holy, because I am holy." (NIV) If we ignore blatant sinfulness within the body of Christ, then we fail to honor the Lord's call to be holy and live for his glory.
@studmuscle84--If God desired his people to be pure, wouldn't he/she/it create us that way? See, this is where I think Christianity (and religion) confuses people. We take, religious texts, created and assembled by others, and elevate them to a God-like (if you will) status. I've been taught that God makes no mistakes, therefore, he created me the way he wanted me. And if he is all powerful, he has the ability to change me (and my heart).
@studmuscle84--I think God is fully capable of handling "sinfulness", whether we ignore it or not. Religion is a tool of introspection and I think far too many in the Christian community like to use it as a hammer to beat down the spirits of others. Holiness and sin are terms, that are, even when interpreted using the harshest biblical standards, still subjected to our biases, thoughts, and belief systems. It becomes a game of perpetual hypocrisy when we operate outside of this realization, IMO.
The Bible teaches the correct way to deal with sin in the church. In fact, Paul gives us a succinct picture of church discipline in 2 Thessalonians 3:14-15: "Take note of those who refuse to obey what we say in this letter. Stay away from them so they will be ashamed. Don't think of them as enemies, but warn them as you would a brother or sister. so in some way i dont think we dealing with the issue in some since
If you have done no studies then you can't use the words "Black Churches." Because if there exist even the remote chance that one church is not doing what you claim, then your point is invalid.
One should hope that their church would have more sinners than the saved. As the saved solidify their relationship with God, sinners should be coming to establish theirs. Opinions can't be used to created change because they often contain limited truth/facts, their only purpose is a conversation piece.
@kamil100f-I wrote an essay on intellectual traits yesterday and discussed the importance of intellectual empathy and fair-mindedness. Both cover being able to recognize that our thoughts, values, and inferences may, at some point, differ from others. My thoughts are no more "invalid" than yours. On this channel, I express my thoughts and beliefs and do my best to respect the viewpoints of others.
While, I agree that not ALL "black churches" tow the hypocrisy line, I have yet to come in>
@fatchickskinny - Your thoughts and beliefs are not invalid - the use of the words ALL "black churches", as it pertains to your argument/hypothesis is. Given that their is at-least over 10k black churches in the US alone, IF you haven't attended them all and/ or done any qualitative/quantitative research, how then can you hypothesize/make such a sweeping statement, if the statement was qualified by saying in my experience then one can't argue that. Would love to hear more about your essay.
@kamil100f--I will concede that it would have been more (if you will) factually accurate for me to include the words, "all the black churches I have attended", when discussing this topic. However, would any reasonable person assume that I was actually referring to ALL black churches? I'm not even sure that it is humanly possible for me to attend ALL the black churches on the planet. :) I stated my opinion, it is by no means the gospel or infallible. I encourage others to do the same.
@kamil100f--The essay was on the similarities between the steward-manager and the servant leader. It also covered elements of dealing with ethical dilemmas in a multicultural setting and, as I mentioned before, the importance of intellectual traits in the critical thinking process.
@kamil100f--to come in contact with a black church that hasn't, where this particular issue is concerned.
I won't debate you on issues related to sinners and the saved because I believe they are analogous. I know some folks who are saved Monday through Friday, but break out their Sinner's Pass on Saturday, and then get snazzy and dance up and down the aisle at church on Sunday.
And I disagree, opinions are formed from our experiences. When our experiences change, so does our reality.
@fatchickskinny Peace, just to chime in...or so one's REALITY should change. When it comes to Religion...there is something call Dedicated Ignorance! And this shuts out All Reason which leads to Reality. Just my feeble opinion. P.E.A.C.E.
Well, I went to this certain church here in Australia and they showed NO RESPECT whatsoever or this white or Black church was somewhat RACIST! A bunch of 'Allagockers" or as I would call them 'DEVILS'<<------ALL going to HELL!!!!! I hate Australia Why?? because it is a FASCIST Society etc ?? GOD Help us!!? Hypocrisy SUCKS!!!
Wooo! I agree with you! I am black but brought up in Roman Catholic because my mum was brought up in a Baptist church but there is still hypocrisy. The problem's with institutes.
@jesus7es7dios7--In this world, it is quite difficult to use the world "all" to describe most things, since all of most things aren't all of everything or anything--if that makes sense. I think the black church has had a hypocritical relationship with homosexuality for a very long time and since the church is comprised of people, I'm willing to go as far as saying we as African-American individuals have a hypocritical relationship with homosexuality.
Did you hear what she said? That she condones Homosexuality! And that she doesnt think, its a SIN or anything like that! I dont know what bible she is reading? But since the beginning of time! GOD has brought judgement on people and even whole cities for the diabolical acts of Homosexuality! So on the Hipocrasy issue shes trying to clarify? She should start with herself! The bible CLEARLY states that NO LESBIAN or HOMOSEXUAL shall enter the kingdom of GOD!
@GeTaLiFe732--Wouldn't that be a judgment for God to render? I think this is part of our problem, we spend so much time, looking for specks in everyone else's eye that we can't see the ones in our own. People need to let God be God and stop trying to send folks to a Heaven or a Hell created by man. The Bible makes no such declaration and YOU KNOW it! Perhaps we should stop trying to limit God by putting him b/w the front and back covers of a book and work on loving ourselves and each other.
@fatchickskinny NO! That wouldnt be a judgment for GOD to render! I can judge some ones lifestyle according to the BIBLE! When GOD said DO NOT JUDGE, what he meant was that we CANT see whats in a persons heart? But if a person is practicing HOMOSEXUALITY or LESBIANISM they are in SIN and in ERROR! And i can take them to the word of GOD and JUDGE their shameful, disgusting lifestyles! And theres heavy consequences if they dont REPENT! Heres some scripture you can look up! ROMANS 1-26,27
@GeTaLiFe732--You may judge someone's LIFESTYLE and decide if you want it for yourself, BUT, when it comes to judging a person's heart, and whether there will be "heavy" consequences. that's up to God. The way I see it, if God didn't want homosexuals here, they wouldn't be here. When last I checked, if God decides something needs to go, it usually does. I'm too busy trying to be a blessing to other folks to be worried about what other people are doing in their bedrooms.
@fatchickskinny Homosexuality is just another consequence of the FALL of man and SIN coming into this world! and its just like any other SIN! GOD does not make mistakes when a person is born its either a boy or a girl! The problem is the SPIRIT inside of that new born and its a spirit of CONFUSION making a MAN feel, like hes really a WOMAN! And making WOMAN feel like shes really a man! And they fall into lustfull feelings for the same sex! And they are in desperate need of a savior! GOD BLESS
@GeTaLiFe732--Quick question, where did sin come from? Unless we're all a big part of some simulation experiment God created for his leisure, I'm thinking ALL THINGS came from the creator, G-O-D. There are no confused spirits, we come here the way we're supposed to. As I said, I think we're too concerned with what other people are doing in their bedrooms. It's none of my business. This will be my last response.
May God Continue to Surround You With Light & Grace,
@GeTaLiFe732--I just don't understand the anger and rage in folks that use the Bible against other people. That's the problem with religion. On its face it's supposed to promote introspection and self-evaluation. It's supposed to be for YOU to use on YOU. Not for you to use on other folks. It turns people into these bible verse wielding zealots that are so "fired up" that they can't let God be God. Our time is short here. Why can't we just love each other and let God handle the rest?
@fatchickskinny The same words you just said, were the same words told to JESUS in his days! By the hypocrites and pharisees! Jesus was a zealot man indeed! Because he LOVED us and wanted nobody to get lost and to perish and he was even crucified for it!! For speaking the truth! And standing up in a fallen world! But i understand that its in your sinful nature, for those words to come out of your mouth! You are now officially in my prayers! May GOD bless you!
@GeTaLiFe732--I think it's very dangerous to conflate Jesus's journey with that of those who consider it their obligation to use the Bible to advocate HATE. And thank you very much for praying for me, we all need all the prayers we can get. Let me be clear, my CHOICE is not to HATE or demonize anyone. I love you even though we disagree and I do not consider your nature sinful or otherwise. I see no point in labeling you in this way because, as I stated, it is not up to me to judge your life.
When you snapped your finger, it took me back to my days in the Black Baptist church where I remember that our choir director was also homosexual. LOL. In my opinion, church members = more money in the eyes of a lot of these pastors. Money is the ultimate goal to a lot of these false preachers.
Wow this is exactly what I was thinking. I haven't been to church in about 6 years. It's not just the black church. I went to a white church, and these people were almost as hypocritical. The church allows for this.
pastors calls its followers flocks(sheep) they probably dont even believe half the stuff they preach religion is basically used to use and exploit people
We are perfect and you don't have go to church. Follow your heart. If you go to church and the things you see are unseatling then you need to listen to what's inside of you. That's God. If you want to leave and not go to church at all God was never there anyway because God lives in us, goes through everything we go through, sees everything we see, feels everything we feel, says everything we say, and does everything we do. I know because the angel told me so. Beleive it or not God gave us Choice
pastors seemingly no longer preach AGaINST fornication, with the overwhelming number of kids in the urban community born 2 single parents (many of them "saved" church ladies) how is that okay? fatherless boys are running amok in urban areas
2. prosperity preaching; it's tethered 2 tithing,.seems too self serving.
better the Black church go back 2 promoting character, two parent families, the responsibility in getting a education the sparkle/ pursuit of bling seems have blinded them
The Churches were not established to teach the bible, but they teach the commandments of men. For example the 10 commandments have nothing to do with fornication, how much you go to church, how to dress, drug usage, etc..
When Jesus Christ was on this earth he said in Matthew 21:31 verily I say unto you, that the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
Faith and belief are not the same as religion... the constructs of religion are fundamentally corrupt....the institutionalization of our belief and faith in a creator and a higher power and a moral compass is wrong... u can't contain the vastness of an omnipotent omnipresent being in a petty vengeful box
fatchickskinny, I appreciate your courage and williness to speak out. God's people need to stand up and expose the hypocrisy in the Lord's house. Amen and God bless you.
I'm glad I ran into your video, because I'm at that point . I used to be one of those that got high every day and after church. The lorde has change my life, but now I know better and these things amaze me and Icry knowing that I am saved but Isee those same pepole in church as decons. When I try to give my testemony I'm told hold back or times up. please keep me in prayer and I for you .Thank you.
@mambaraqed--No pics or videos on your page. Why am I NOT surprised? My channel, my ramble. Please go toss your word vomit elsewhere. Welcome to Blockistan!
@BOSTONBUCK--Did you miss the username? I notice there's no pic on your page to judge. I wonder why...LOL. The cowards always throw stones, laugh, and run. I wish you nothing but blessings, happiness, and a cure for your anti-social disorder.
(sorry, I know this is a lot) But another reason why there are so many problems in church is because people who aren't truly converted or serious about God keep attending. I'm NOT saying that all people aren't welcome, but if a person isn't pursuing God, holiness, or wanting to forsake sin, then why go? They're just using church as a way to feel better about their sin.
I'm glad that you posted this. I agree with most of what you said (besides homosexuality not being a sin). But I also grew up in a black church with TONS of worldly junk running though it, & it turned me off for a while too. But when I got to college, I began walking with the Lord more closely (all His doing) & He placed me in a sound teaching, biblical church (it's a black church too) & I LOVE it. All black churches aren't corrupt, but sadly, many are.
Look at it historically and chronologically...the ENTIRE script is foreign to Afrikans...now, you continue to call yourselves black, negro...only dogs and slaves are named by their masters, free persons name themselves.
I learned more out of the church then I did in church. Its full of too many distractions. If people aren't falling out all over the floor, screaming, trying to out do each other in prayer its something else. I learn more at home studying the bible. Gathering with family and friends for bible study.
I also do know people who are triffling all week and make sure they make it to church every sunday . Those are the ones who are the loudest and holiest in church.
In simple terms why is the black church hypocrits?Need it for homework, simple answer would be nice since I don't have the internet buffer to watch the whole video.
All of the things you speak of I totally agree with. I have never been to a black church but let me tell you, all of that stuff goes on in the church I used to attend as well, which was predominantly white. (It was also Baptist.) I believe that allowing this hypocrisy to continue to thrive in our churches is certainly not doing God any favors. :(
Thank you for posting this video. Very intelligent topic and you delivered your message in an easy-to-relate-to manner. :)
We weren't allowed to have our place in society because Whites treated us inequitably. With that said the Black Church became a secular and Sacred institution! A lot of the mental slavery from the past exist in the church and in my opinion this will lead to the end of not only the Black Church but US as a whole!
@fatchickskinny -- I really understand...the same thing happened to me -- I actually left the church for about six (6) months [so disillusioned]; so I understand that you might have to get away from it..but those are the people that God also loves. You might not be able to deal with a particular group but don't abandon the Body. The Church today needs people like you, who are sincere and real...I had to realize this as the Lord eventually came and retrieved me off of the basketball court.
@fatchickskinny -- Last of all, as I look at your picture and read your comments there is a softness and openness in both...I do believe that you have been hurt by the poor witness of some in the church community but not everyone is a hypocrite...my hope and prayer is that you allow the Lord Himself to speak to you about His love through the truthfulness of His Word (Psalm 37).
@bobeagle3--Thank You. I wasn't actually hurt by the church, I just found that there were too many distractions in the church. Way TOO much hypocrisy. Infidelity, spousal abuse (by pastors), gossiping, and a host of other things. My relationship with God was strengthened when I left. And sometimes that's how it is. Sometimes, we have to get away from all the noise to evaluate our relationship with God, and ultimately, ourselves. Church is a show for many. I'd rather not play.
@fatchickskinny -- I also believe that you are searching for truth; therefore, don't throw the baby out with the bath water...I too was where you are right now and I know that if you keep searching for the Lord; you will find Him. Being critical of organized religion is one thing but being critical of the true Church is an entirely different matter. Traditional church meetings have a lot displeasing carrying ons but remember what Jesus brought us is pure and undefiled.
@fatchickskinny -- What the Bible says is that the Church is not "Black" but instead it is the Body of Christ. It also says in (Heb.10:25) that Christians are to assemble with other believers. Also the Bible points out that the Church does not exclude "hypocrites" from attending; therefore; we may observe many who are hypocrites, but it does not mean all are.
the black church has done same thing all churches has done over last 25years let the wickedness of devil he right in church there are few true keeper of gods flame who research bible and be seeker of whats is right everything is not base USA half world falling apart becoz wickedness devil lust this hope NWO take weak people by force so sad our people brainwash that greatest right in church
Your views are skewed because you are overwhelmed by what your eyes have been focused on. The church is place for all people (sinners and saints)...Your eyes need to be focused on God's Son Jesus. Hypocrisy is not the goal of any church and what is termed "church" is not the church. Remember as you critique the church, it was Jesus who said the church is His Bride..you remember that and get saved!
@bobeagle3--I don't think "hypocrisy" is the goal of anyone or anything. I think it kinda just happens. If my eyes need to be focused on Jesus, then what's the purpose of church? I can focus on God at home or in my car, or while getting my gas. The Bible does not deem the church infallible or state that we shouldn't critique it.
The black church is just another parasite the black community deals with. It wasn't always that way, but in the modern era of mega churches and whatnot, it's all about money.
I feel ya on all that you're saying! God hates it and because I have the mind of Christ I hate it too! I was married for 26 years to a man who pulled me and my four son's from church to church; while he was a deacon in three of them. He would always preach to me and my son's about how God wants us to live, and after my youngest son was killed in a car accident on the same day he decided to leave the marriage. It turned out that he had a girlfriend outside the marriage for more than ten years.
Your words are very true MrWINNSLAW, but part of understanding God is to study his word. So many people come to church on Sunday and that is it. It's the same with Bible Study. Although we have large classes, it still doesn't equal 25% of our church. Missions and Evangelism should be the largest ministries in the church but once again they aren't. If you don't put anything in to growing in the knowledge of God, you get nothing out of it. We must stop trying to bring the street into the church.
I agree with you. I've worked with people that party all Saturday night and go to church still half drunk the next day. And they think something is wrong with you when you tell them that you don't go to church. lol
"The church is not a building-the church is the people. Once people take into consideration that God is REAL then we will see a change in the way that we treat each other."
@MRWTFIZUP Um, Ham was never cursed; his son Canaan was cursed. His brother, Cush, is where black people come from. Regarding the monkey comments, monkeys have lots of non-curly hair all over their body in a variety of colors, and no lips. Between black people & white people, who's got the hairier bodies, more variety in hair color, straighter hair, and thinner lips? By your reasoning, you're the monkey, but that's silly; EARLOBES are a bigger ethnic marker. There's only one race: human.
On a personal level I get so much from being able to study God's word. I get much from midweek prayer services. The testimonies and prayer are very uplifting. I get much enjoyment from fellowshipping not only with my church but people from other churches as well.
I see the stuff that goes on. I make it my business not to become a part of it. I am not there for that. Individual hearts must change. We must pray about it. I'd much rather be around people who are trying to live right.
You've got a lot of growing to do. Hopefully you're not going to church for the pastor, or choir director, or the sister sitting next to you in the pew. Hypocrisy is everywhere, mainly because man is flesh. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. That doesn't change because you go to church. You go to church to worship and give God glory. You go to learn and understand God's word so you can become a better person. You make a mistake when you focus on man instead of God.
@bookitty1232000--I actually agree with much of what you said, but just because something exists, doesn't mean it has to persist. Doesn't the Bible mention something about the power of speaking the truth? And yes, I have quite a bit of growing to do, but that's true for most of us. I'm a fierce advocate of loving one another and I believe spreading that message, is a part of my purpose. And I think "focusing" on man and "dealing" with man are mutually exclusive.
That's why I like the United Church of Christ because they accepting of all lifestyles, I'm straight and I have nothing against gay people and feel they should be treated the same because they God's children too. There is black congregations with UCC that accepts gays.
@jtkalehua -- it not that people in other denominations "hate" gay pple. the issue is not condoning sinful lifestyles and patterns and what is the proper way to correct and/or disciple pple. to say that your organization accepts all lifestyles is merely to say that you condone and accommodate all type of immature, unhealthy sin-filled ways of living,.
You are right on. Good video. The modern black church is screwed up from the inside out. The preachers, ministers, and pastors do not properly teach the bible and many don't really know it themselves, and the congregations don't know either and follow these men/women blindly without checking what they are actually hearing against the word of God. Sad.
i agree wid u i grew up in da black church in the uk and it's the same. I'm tired of all the hypocrisy. in sayin dat it's in all churches regardless of race. church shud be about being right wid god. Not goin ther on sundays and living currupt monday to saturday. it's puts peps off wen they blantly see all the hypocrisy
That's like saying a church can't hire anyone who they'd consider to have sin in their lifestyle, that they openly condemn. Inversely, why's it okay for other sinners to be apart of choir but not gays? I don't think hiring them that's hypocrisy, that's accepting the fact that no one in the church has a sinless lifestyle. They're going to church in part because they understand themselves to be sinful. Though it'd be hypocritical if they were only hired for being gay and not for what they can do
@Indupative I am sick and tired of this division between sinners and chritians we are all human beings we are not perfert we are to worry about ourselves and take care of ourselves! The black church is filled with Hypocrisy!
Denominations and organized religion can be very discouraging. I've learned a long time ago, it's about a personal relationship with the Lord. In spite of all going on in the churches, God is still God, He is still good and He loves us. I want to encourage anyone who are thru with people and church, please don't give up on God. God bless you, fatchickskinny :)
Sweetheart, I hear what you are saying, but its not just the "black" churches. Its ALL church's. American organized religion is the most ridiculous, silly, hypocracy filled bunch of nonsense you could ever see. Its a sick joke. When I was roughly 16, I called them out on the hypocracy and my mother was told that I was not welcome back in church. That killed all my religious ideas and my young belief in "god". Who needs church and prayer and god? Just do your best to live life as a good person.
I agree. I'm an atheist. I've never been baptized and I've never gone to church except for weddings and funerals. All the money that the churches are taking from people, could be helping homeless and unemployed people and feeding and keeping animals healthy in shelters.
These are great statements. They should be heard. You put your finger on the hypocrisy. Love the sinner and hate the sinner. Only god can do this without causing harm. Humans are doing this and are failing as they will and should. Let's get philosophical for a moment. Do we hate the sin more than we love the person? Hate is a poison. Maya Angelou said, a little poison over time will still kill you.
"The WHOLE Christian Bible was derived from the sacred books of Egypt, such as:
THE BOOK OF THE DEAD, THE PYRAMID TEXTS, AND THE BOOKS OF THOTH." EA Wallace Budge (Keeper of the Egyptian and Assyrian Antiquities at the British Museum)
You have to understand that we are living in the last days. It says in the bible that these things will come to pass before Jesus comes for this church.
girl you are tight on point with everything your saying.. this is why so many young people like myself not going up in those black churches.. i don't see any progress with those place and the black communities
shows you how the black church is truly not a place to learn about God, its a place for people to meet some shortys, sing songs, gossip, and at the same time they can get on some self righteous mentality and look down on others. churches change an already ignorant people into people that can't even stand up for their own communities because they (gon leave it up to Jeezus). but it does give an already bored to death people something to do on sundays, thats all it is.
This is what the LORD says: "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place be?
A priest descended from Aaron is to accompany the Levites when they receive the tithes, and the Levites are to bring a tenth of the tithes up to the house of our God, to the storerooms of the treasury.
the only purpose of ANY church is to get you to hand over your WALLET.
Why is it when we CALL OUT the sin in our churches we have to preface it with "I dont mean to sound judgemental"- If you read Paul's words, he called sin sin.
Well, I don't think "sounding" judgmental is the concern. I think LIVING by one set of rules and FORCING another set on others is the problem. When do we get to the part where hypocrisy is a sin?
In my opinion, we spend WAY too much time in judgment. We're always looking for things to JUDGE and praying for things to HATE about one another. I'm not a Bible beater, but I love John 3:16. Doesn't say God just loved the righteous, the heterosexuals, or the Christians.
I think there is a misunderstanding of what the word condoning means. I think you have confused that word with tolerant. In other words, I as a Christian are to be tolerant towards all people who honestly seek God. This does not mean that I condone or suppport their sin.
Being that the entire congregation is guilty of sin, at any given pt. in a sermon the preacher could be talking about the sin that even the deacon or himself are struggling with. So is he to fire the entire congregation?
I don't think anyone should be fired. And there's very little difference between tolerating something and condoning. At times, there's no difference at all. Tolerating underage drinking is the same as condoning it.
I think we should focus on doing the best WE can, not forcing unrealistic expectations on other people. If my mind and heart are focused on God, then I'm too busy to be worried about who is sleeping with who. What happened to preaching about loving God and each other?
In webster dictionary there are several different meanings of that word tolerating, but it doesn't matter. We could argue over semantics but I think you understand that in the case of the church, tolerating has nothing to do with condoning sin, which means to make allowances for sin.
As far as unrealistic expectations, the entire bible places an unrealistic expectation on all of mankind. No one can live Holy and perfect, yet the bible tells us to do just that.
I won't argue over semantics. I was pretty clear in the context with which I was considering "condoning". FYI, in order to "tolerate" something, you HAVE to make allowances for it.
And while the Bible does lay out expectations for man, it also grants grace. The Bible tells us to "try" to live righteous lives. In a nutshell, it says that if we try and fail, there is grace and forgiveness. My intent was not to introduce an all or nothing solution. My intent was to start a dialogue.
We have to understand that as Christians we have to renew our minds, but not just regarding spiritual things but aslo as far as things of everyday life.
For ex. To a non believer the pastor is preaching unrealistic expectations but to a believer we know that even though it is impossible to live a completely sinless life, God calls us to shoot for perfection. What good father would tell his kids that 95% is ok when 100% is the goal.
Satan gave Eve a message that was 95% correct which equates to a lie. It is the pastors duty to preach the Truth, which is 100% correct & this has no bearing on whether or not the pastor has no sin in that area.
Furthermore, you seem to not understand the duties of a pastor. It is not your job to police the congregation but it is the pastors job to do just that and this includes preaching about a sex life that honors God. It's God's message, who are we to object.
the church has been co-opted by luciferians, those who run the church work for Lucifer and u the member r visitor r the prey
If u cannot discern the game then u r spiritualy weak bcuz this is about spiritual warfare. The Bi`bel is a book of WAR
If u c whats goin down but keep comin back 4 more, then u r what they r. Church vampires who wait for the spiritualy stupid 2 enter in2 their lair 2 be sucked dry of spiritual energy
R u want 2 b recruited as a worker 4 Lucifer like they r.
Many black men don't go to church, because they know in their heart it's a JOKE!
Christianity is Pagan...and all religions are a LIE told by the devil.
The truth is coming to light. The name of the Father is YAHUWAH, and the name of the son is Yahuwshua! Stop calling out to those false names...wake up! Start to think and question your life/salvation.
GOD has High Standards...we as people will never reach them. It says in the Word to follow the rules of GOD. That has little to do with going to Church. It is a way of Life, which I think, is GOOD. I can only decide for me.
It is a sin, the Bible is very clear about that. But ur right that Pastors that allow homosexuals to lead choirs or even participate in ministry are validating their sin. BTW, the Christian is called to disciple the new believer. But check this out, seeing the hypocrisy CAN make u weary of the Church. But don't get it twisted. God is not mocked what ever a man sows that he will reap. Including u, so if u haven't turned from ur sins (repent) and turn 2 Jesus then u too will be judged.
John 17:3 "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of the one and only true God and the one whom he sent forth Jesus Christ." The way to take in knowledge is reading God's word the Holy Bible. Do listen to words of men who will warp and distort God's righteousness. These wolves in sheep's clothing pander to people and tickle their ears. They say God will give you everything and once saved, always saved. Read Hebrews 10:26. Churches are about money and personal gratification.
The black so-called christian church is nothing more than a club for christians...minus the alcohol. When i went years ago there was nothing but women in provocative clothing, singin and dancing. The pastor reminded me of a 70's pimp with his jive-ass doctrine.Reverend feel-good would give us 2 or 3 scripture out of the bible and the rest would be his own life stories of how he was a sinner.I learned nothing about the true god of Isreal. Those who want to really learn goto THEGATHERINGOFCHRIST!!!
And I understand where you are coming from... Its great that you are studying for yourself and wanting answers....
Please continue asking til' you receive answers. Pray to God to help those in your Church AND also ask Him for his holy spirit and guidance to resolve the issues you see....
Less we also not forget the hypocrisy of the collection plate, the disparity in economics where the preacher and immediate family live good while the majority of the congregation is po... er ummm my bad... I meant poor. :-). Miss preacher lady gets her hair did twice a week. Minister hubby has a brand new Benz and each year they just gotta go to the "holy lands" with Deacon Jackson n' wife on a fellowship retreat!
Gurl, I LOVE YOU! You are so right and adorable at the same time! Big hugs from Spain!

Blacks do not have the monopoly on hypocrisy in the church. It's everyone and everywhere. Plus, I think the ones that judge the most, have the most issues themselves.
1norville 5 months ago
@1norville--I agree. I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with judging though. If you're judging someone's behavior and deciding whether it's something you want for you, I think it can be quite beneficial. I think the problem comes when we use church or the Bible to judge and condemn people when, if folks knew the truth about the lives WE live, they'd go running for the hills. We're all on a journey and most of us have "issues" or challenges that we're trying to overcome.

Stardomchild 6 months ago 3
@Stardomchild--I agree. It's so much easier to deal with someone that's open about their situation, right out the gate. It says a lot about their character. In my opinion, it also speaks to the way they deal with people in general. I think religion is used as a shield. It allows people to live by one set of rules, while having a completely different set, by which they judge others.

Look at TBN and other high profiled leaders both black and white.
mrbilingual 7 months ago

His congregation isn't large, but he is an awesome Pastor, and loves his work for the Lord..People need to put more focus on the Message and apply it to their lives and Not go to Church to focus on the people or the Messenger..It interfers with your worship and Personal Relationship with Jesus Christ..

studmuscle84 9 months ago
@studmuscle84--I agree with you, to an extent. I think people feel it is corrective to love the sinner and hate the sin, but again, is that not promoting hypocrisy and confusion? How is it possible to love people in bits and pieces? When we decide to "love" don't we usually accept the person and all they bring to the table? And unless someone's behavior has a direct impact on our lives, I'm not really sure that it's possible to "correct" an adult.
fatchickskinny 9 months ago

All churches are not the same.Only talk about the church that you have attended. God said take all your problem to HIM. I think you need to talk to God about some of the problems you have and he will leave you where you need to be.
All churches donot just run around for money. the church i attend never go out asking for money. we stay as close to what the bible say.

God desires his people to be pure. He calls us to live holy lives, set apart for his glory. 1 Peter 1:16 restates Leviticus 11:44: "Be holy, because I am holy." (NIV) If we ignore blatant sinfulness within the body of Christ, then we fail to honor the Lord's call to be holy and live for his glory.
studmuscle84 9 months ago in playlist BLACK CHURCHES
@studmuscle84--If God desired his people to be pure, wouldn't he/she/it create us that way? See, this is where I think Christianity (and religion) confuses people. We take, religious texts, created and assembled by others, and elevate them to a God-like (if you will) status. I've been taught that God makes no mistakes, therefore, he created me the way he wanted me. And if he is all powerful, he has the ability to change me (and my heart).
fatchickskinny 9 months ago
@studmuscle84--I think God is fully capable of handling "sinfulness", whether we ignore it or not. Religion is a tool of introspection and I think far too many in the Christian community like to use it as a hammer to beat down the spirits of others. Holiness and sin are terms, that are, even when interpreted using the harshest biblical standards, still subjected to our biases, thoughts, and belief systems. It becomes a game of perpetual hypocrisy when we operate outside of this realization, IMO.
fatchickskinny 9 months ago

Opinions can't be used to created change because they often contain limited truth/facts, their only purpose is a conversation piece.
kamil100f 10 months ago
@kamil100f-I wrote an essay on intellectual traits yesterday and discussed the importance of intellectual empathy and fair-mindedness. Both cover being able to recognize that our thoughts, values, and inferences may, at some point, differ from others. My thoughts are no more "invalid" than yours. On this channel, I express my thoughts and beliefs and do my best to respect the viewpoints of others.
While, I agree that not ALL "black churches" tow the hypocrisy line, I have yet to come in>
fatchickskinny 10 months ago
@fatchickskinny - Your thoughts and beliefs are not invalid - the use of the words ALL "black churches", as it pertains to your argument/hypothesis is. Given that their is at-least over 10k black churches in the US alone, IF you haven't attended them all and/ or done any qualitative/quantitative research, how then can you hypothesize/make such a sweeping statement, if the statement was qualified by saying in my experience then one can't argue that. Would love to hear more about your essay.
kamil100f 10 months ago
@kamil100f--I will concede that it would have been more (if you will) factually accurate for me to include the words, "all the black churches I have attended", when discussing this topic. However, would any reasonable person assume that I was actually referring to ALL black churches? I'm not even sure that it is humanly possible for me to attend ALL the black churches on the planet. :) I stated my opinion, it is by no means the gospel or infallible. I encourage others to do the same.
fatchickskinny 10 months ago
@kamil100f--The essay was on the similarities between the steward-manager and the servant leader. It also covered elements of dealing with ethical dilemmas in a multicultural setting and, as I mentioned before, the importance of intellectual traits in the critical thinking process.
fatchickskinny 10 months ago
@kamil100f--to come in contact with a black church that hasn't, where this particular issue is concerned.
I won't debate you on issues related to sinners and the saved because I believe they are analogous. I know some folks who are saved Monday through Friday, but break out their Sinner's Pass on Saturday, and then get snazzy and dance up and down the aisle at church on Sunday.
And I disagree, opinions are formed from our experiences. When our experiences change, so does our reality.
fatchickskinny 10 months ago
@fatchickskinny Peace, just to chime in...or so one's REALITY should change. When it comes to Religion...there is something call Dedicated Ignorance! And this shuts out All Reason which leads to Reality. Just my feeble opinion. P.E.A.C.E.

jesus7es7dios7 1 year ago
@jesus7es7dios7--In this world, it is quite difficult to use the world "all" to describe most things, since all of most things aren't all of everything or anything--if that makes sense. I think the black church has had a hypocritical relationship with homosexuality for a very long time and since the church is comprised of people, I'm willing to go as far as saying we as African-American individuals have a hypocritical relationship with homosexuality.
fatchickskinny 1 year ago
Did you hear what she said? That she condones Homosexuality! And that she doesnt think, its a SIN or anything like that! I dont know what bible she is reading? But since the beginning of time! GOD has brought judgement on people and even whole cities for the diabolical acts of Homosexuality! So on the Hipocrasy issue shes trying to clarify? She should start with herself! The bible CLEARLY states that NO LESBIAN or HOMOSEXUAL shall enter the kingdom of GOD!
GeTaLiFe732 1 year ago

GeTaLiFe732 1 year ago
@GeTaLiFe732--You may judge someone's LIFESTYLE and decide if you want it for yourself, BUT, when it comes to judging a person's heart, and whether there will be "heavy" consequences. that's up to God. The way I see it, if God didn't want homosexuals here, they wouldn't be here. When last I checked, if God decides something needs to go, it usually does. I'm too busy trying to be a blessing to other folks to be worried about what other people are doing in their bedrooms.
fatchickskinny 1 year ago
@fatchickskinny Homosexuality is just another consequence of the FALL of man and SIN coming into this world! and its just like any other SIN! GOD does not make mistakes when a person is born its either a boy or a girl! The problem is the SPIRIT inside of that new born and its a spirit of CONFUSION making a MAN feel, like hes really a WOMAN! And making WOMAN feel like shes really a man! And they fall into lustfull feelings for the same sex! And they are in desperate need of a savior! GOD BLESS
GeTaLiFe732 1 year ago
@GeTaLiFe732--Quick question, where did sin come from? Unless we're all a big part of some simulation experiment God created for his leisure, I'm thinking ALL THINGS came from the creator, G-O-D. There are no confused spirits, we come here the way we're supposed to. As I said, I think we're too concerned with what other people are doing in their bedrooms. It's none of my business. This will be my last response.
May God Continue to Surround You With Light & Grace,
Me!

Why can't we just love each other and let God handle the rest?
fatchickskinny 1 year ago
@fatchickskinny The same words you just said, were the same words told to JESUS in his days! By the hypocrites and pharisees! Jesus was a zealot man indeed! Because he LOVED us and wanted nobody to get lost and to perish and he was even crucified for it!! For speaking the truth! And standing up in a fallen world! But i understand that its in your sinful nature, for those words to come out of your mouth! You are now officially in my prayers! May GOD bless you!
GeTaLiFe732 1 year ago
@GeTaLiFe732--I think it's very dangerous to conflate Jesus's journey with that of those who consider it their obligation to use the Bible to advocate HATE. And thank you very much for praying for me, we all need all the prayers we can get. Let me be clear, my CHOICE is not to HATE or demonize anyone. I love you even though we disagree and I do not consider your nature sinful or otherwise. I see no point in labeling you in this way because, as I stated, it is not up to me to judge your life.

@creoladee1 Everything you said is correct.

The Church today needs people like you, who are sincere and real...I had to realize this as the Lord eventually came and retrieved me off of the basketball court.
bobeagle3 1 year ago
@fatchickskinny -- Last of all, as I look at your picture and read your comments there is a softness and openness in both...I do believe that you have been hurt by the poor witness of some in the church community but not everyone is a hypocrite...my hope and prayer is that you allow the Lord Himself to speak to you about His love through the truthfulness of His Word (Psalm 37).
bobeagle3 1 year ago
@bobeagle3--Thank You. I wasn't actually hurt by the church, I just found that there were too many distractions in the church. Way TOO much hypocrisy. Infidelity, spousal abuse (by pastors), gossiping, and a host of other things. My relationship with God was strengthened when I left. And sometimes that's how it is. Sometimes, we have to get away from all the noise to evaluate our relationship with God, and ultimately, ourselves. Church is a show for many. I'd rather not play.
fatchickskinny 1 year ago 9
@fatchickskinny -- I also believe that you are searching for truth; therefore, don't throw the baby out with the bath water...I too was where you are right now and I know that if you keep searching for the Lord; you will find Him. Being critical of organized religion is one thing but being critical of the true Church is an entirely different matter. Traditional church meetings have a lot displeasing carrying ons but remember what Jesus brought us is pure and undefiled.
bobeagle3 1 year ago
@fatchickskinny -- What the Bible says is that the Church is not "Black" but instead it is the Body of Christ. It also says in (Heb.10:25) that Christians are to assemble with other believers. Also the Bible points out that the Church does not exclude "hypocrites" from attending; therefore; we may observe many who are hypocrites, but it does not mean all are.

Your views are skewed because you are overwhelmed by what your eyes have been focused on. The church is place for all people (sinners and saints)...Your eyes need to be focused on God's Son Jesus. Hypocrisy is not the goal of any church and what is termed "church" is not the church. Remember as you critique the church, it was Jesus who said the church is His Bride..you remember that and get saved!
bobeagle3 1 year ago
@bobeagle3--I don't think "hypocrisy" is the goal of anyone or anything. I think it kinda just happens. If my eyes need to be focused on Jesus, then what's the purpose of church? I can focus on God at home or in my car, or while getting my gas. The Bible does not deem the church infallible or state that we shouldn't critique it.
And how do YOU know that I'm not already saved?

KnightofMotley 1 year ago
On a personal level I get so much from being able to study God's word. I get much from midweek prayer services. The testimonies and prayer are very uplifting. I get much enjoyment from fellowshipping not only with my church but people from other churches as well.
I see the stuff that goes on. I make it my business not to become a part of it. I am not there for that. Individual hearts must change. We must pray about it. I'd much rather be around people who are trying to live right.

fatchickskinny 1 year ago
You've got a lot of growing to do. Hopefully you're not going to church for the pastor, or choir director, or the sister sitting next to you in the pew. Hypocrisy is everywhere, mainly because man is flesh. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. That doesn't change because you go to church. You go to church to worship and give God glory. You go to learn and understand God's word so you can become a better person. You make a mistake when you focus on man instead of God.
bookitty1232000 1 year ago
@bookitty1232000--I actually agree with much of what you said, but just because something exists, doesn't mean it has to persist. Doesn't the Bible mention something about the power of speaking the truth? And yes, I have quite a bit of growing to do, but that's true for most of us. I'm a fierce advocate of loving one another and I believe spreading that message, is a part of my purpose. And I think "focusing" on man and "dealing" with man are mutually exclusive.
Peace!

You are right on. Good video. The modern black church is screwed up from the inside out. The preachers, ministers, and pastors do not properly teach the bible and many don't really know it themselves, and the congregations don't know either and follow these men/women blindly without checking what they are actually hearing against the word of God. Though it'd be hypocritical if they were only hired for being gay and not for what they can do
MikoDollie 1 year ago
that doesn't mean God isn't changing them, but u go for the word (that you must wisely discern for yourself by reading the word)

HenryChinaski405 2 years ago

Maya Angelou said, a little poison over time will still kill you.

shows you how the black church is truly not a place to learn about God, its a place for people to meet some shortys, sing songs, gossip, and at the same time they can get on some self righteous mentality and look down on others. churches change an already ignorant people into people that can't even stand up for their own communities because they (gon leave it up to Jeezus). but it does give an already bored to death people something to do on sundays, thats all it is.

Why is it when we CALL OUT the sin in our churches we have to preface it with "I dont mean to sound judgemental"- If you read Paul's words, he called sin sin.
angelsoulnme 2 years ago
Well, I don't think "sounding" judgmental is the concern. I think LIVING by one set of rules and FORCING another set on others is the problem. When do we get to the part where hypocrisy is a sin?
In my opinion, we spend WAY too much time in judgment. We're always looking for things to JUDGE and praying for things to HATE about one another. I'm not a Bible beater, but I love John 3:16. Doesn't say God just loved the righteous, the heterosexuals, or the Christians.
fatchickskinny 2 years ago
I think there is a misunderstanding of what the word condoning means. I think you have confused that word with tolerant. In other words, I as a Christian are to be tolerant towards all people who honestly seek God. This does not mean that I condone or suppport their sin.
Being that the entire congregation is guilty of sin, at any given pt. in a sermon the preacher could be talking about the sin that even the deacon or himself are struggling with. So is he to fire the entire congregation?
DreadScottt 2 years ago
I don't think anyone should be fired. And there's very little difference between tolerating something and condoning. At times, there's no difference at all. Tolerating underage drinking is the same as condoning it.
I think we should focus on doing the best WE can, not forcing unrealistic expectations on other people. If my mind and heart are focused on God, then I'm too busy to be worried about who is sleeping with who. What happened to preaching about loving God and each other?
fatchickskinny 2 years ago
In webster dictionary there are several different meanings of that word tolerating, but it doesn't matter. We could argue over semantics but I think you understand that in the case of the church, tolerating has nothing to do with condoning sin, which means to make allowances for sin.
As far as unrealistic expectations, the entire bible places an unrealistic expectation on all of mankind. No one can live Holy and perfect, yet the bible tells us to do just that.
DreadScottt 2 years ago
I won't argue over semantics. I was pretty clear in the context with which I was considering "condoning". FYI, in order to "tolerate" something, you HAVE to make allowances for it.
And while the Bible does lay out expectations for man, it also grants grace. The Bible tells us to "try" to live righteous lives. In a nutshell, it says that if we try and fail, there is grace and forgiveness. My intent was not to introduce an all or nothing solution. My intent was to start a dialogue.

So what are we to do?
We have to understand that as Christians we have to renew our minds, but not just regarding spiritual things but aslo as far as things of everyday life.
For ex. To a non believer the pastor is preaching unrealistic expectations but to a believer we know that even though it is impossible to live a completely sinless life, God calls us to shoot for perfection. What good father would tell his kids that 95% is ok when 100% is the goal.
DreadScottt 2 years ago
cont...
