  • If you want to have BB30 chainset do not buy Sram S900 go for force or red.

it's not as close as force/red or FSA to the bb area.

  • sorry Eneko but you made it wrong.

The bearings used in Sram system are ceramic and the blue sealed side must be outboard and must be visible once installed.

    Hello "roxannethegreatdane",

The grase is in the correct area, but we forget in the video the outside part of the

    bearing as you say.

I attached you SRAM's technical manual where you can see the area of the grease for

    all the Bottom brackets.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello Eneko,

    Thanks for your reply,

Is it worth to buy Ceramic bearings ?

What is the lifetime of the normal BB30 bearings ?

    Thanks.

  • Park and FSA both make tools for removing the insert, it is not permanent and removal with these tools will not damage the frame. When we selected this option three years ago, it was the only one available. Since then several companies offer adapter pieces that don't require any sort of sleeve. If you purchase an Orca, simply specify that you don't want the FSA insert installed.

  • I agree with Traingp7. Once the FSA Shimano converter is installed, that's it, you're stuck with it in the frame! You can't upgrade to a bb30 chainset at a later date!

Cannot believe that Orbea would have such a stupid idea?

A better idea is to fit the correct SRAM bb30 bearings and then use the Wheels Manufacturing bb30 converter which is a much better made piece of equipment than the FSA coke can!

    Fantastic frame, crap idea Orbea!!!!

  • Putting the shimano adapter in is stupid. For 35 bucks you can buy a adapter that will let you run shimano cranks with BB 30 bearings. When you want to upgrade to BB 30 cranks in the future you can. With that adapter that goes into the frame, once you install it in a carbon frame you can't take it out again without risk of damage to the frame.
