The 1-inch punch is not a combat technique. It's simply to demonstrate that power can be generated without strength. Wing Chun punches don't hit you from 1 inch, they hit you from an average of 10+ inches. That means a potential of 10x the force you see in the 1-inch punch demonstration. It's meant to demonstrate that body structure can provide power without strength as a byproduct, by backing your strikes with your body instead of just your shoulder. Tools.
That 1 inch punch is full of shit and so are it's believers, lol. Anyone, i mean anyone can perform such gimmick, just have your buddy stand straight, remember this ''straight stance'' have no support from either your hips or feet? thus making it very easy for you to knock or push the person standing. You can actually do this with your thumb and still push, knock the standing person. Bruce, Hawkins, as anyone told you that this gimmick don't prove you guys are fighters, or were fighters?lol
If Bruce Lee was still living, I believe that Hawkins Cheung would have probably been the most likely instructor to teach Lee the rest of Wing Chun. Lee moved back to Hong Kong, but had plans to return to the U.S. H Cheung settled on the west coast and being a friend of Lee's would've been the closest to him in terms of proximity. Not sure of Lee's relation to Moy Yat in wing chun.
@temponebl Not really He trained under Yip man and he did build on wing chun to work for today he'd probably kick your ass if you saw some wing chun guys they have some FAST kicks and also some pretty hard punches.
i trained with hawkins for a while. impressive for his age the way he can still throw people around and he's got a funny humor he brings to the class. i had wished though that his teaching was a little more intense.
This guy is for real. I train with him 2x a week. His system is the most practical and effective. It requires little to no physical exertion or strength. He is 70 yrs old and 100lbs and still can take anyone in the class
If he is effective then how good is bruce?. with bruce the guy bruce punches cleary gets knocked back, here the guy he punches seems to be pushed of balance.

When one learns the essential power of Qi Gong the one inch punch is not that difficult to do.
