i was born deaf and my mother taught me to listen to melanie in early 70`s and i grew up trying to sing this song and now i`m gonna get cochlear implants and i can`t wait to listen to this song.
Yes - at 62 nature has taken her upper register from her. But she is still a fantastic performer and she can still take the stage and mesmerize you with stunning vocals and stories of an age gone by -but not every time. We love her because she is the last of the great acoustic performers that has always preferred to entertain the masses Live and not just on studio albums - actually preferring Live. She does music the way it was meant to be done - with no "out of the can" electronic crap.
The years have not changed the mischievous little girl voice, powerful, full of fun, and the musical mastery paramount. I hope you might perform at the Stone Mountain Center in Brownfield, Maine, some fine day.
This is so great! How lucky are we that Melanie is still alive and performing? Unlike so many greats of the 60's - Joplin, Hendrix, Lennon - she's still kicking! Go Melanie! And how do we find out where she's performing these days??
love her. shes great! And no one sounds the same live as they do on the record.Such a powerful voice still.Put Melaine in the rock and roll hall of fame!
Give her a break she's post menopause. I take it you're not hip to Marianne Faithfull, the late Nico and Nina Simone, or in recent years Joni Mitchell, or Nina Hagen, Lene Lovich, Siouxsie, Lisa Gerrard or Diamanda Galas's deeper tones.
She is so wonderful. If you feel the same way, go to her website and sign an online petition to get her inducted into the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame. She deserves it! This video brings it all back.

Yet another moronic performance from an overrated singer.Doesn't this woman know when to quit her hippie lifestyle? Too damn liberal for my tastes.
