Actually the aneurysm clips is diamagnetic, it means that it doesn´t move under magnetic fields. Usually i do MRI (magnetic resonance image) in my patients with or without titanium implants (the common material of clips). The problem is not the magnetic force. The problem is that the titanium distort the image of near structures and may be doesn´t show very well the old aneurysm or a new one. In that case i use angiography (painful) or ct angiography (painless).
@nelsmo Thanks for sharing your precious time and knowledge. Your work is the most honorable of all. I see you as superior beings with innestimable skills . One must consider you superior to others in order to surrender with confidence when giving you the power to open their skull and dissect their brain with certainty that you'll be up to. ℒღ ヅ
but after my surgery he told me that the clip i have is not suppose to move with magnetic thing but he told me not to take Magnetic Resonance Imaging test if it could be bypass. I told him well you told me to take another test in ten years and he answered me that in ten years they will probably have another way to test it. but lately i checked and ity's still the Magnetic Resonance that i have to do. (sorry it's long i have to look for my english words.)
when they did the "Magnetic Resonance Imaging" they found out i had cerebral aneurysm, neurosurgeon told me that he think he saw 2 but said he would confirm this at the angiography wich was not ,finaly i had only one but he told me when you do these it often occur that you do have more than one and that in general those you're suppose to have are pop out by the time you're past your 40 years old. So he recommended me that i do another test about ten years later cause i was only 34
Hi nelsmo Thanks to share all this with us. I had this surgery back in january 3, 2001 and i always said i wish they had filmed it on tape the for me to see. Now i did thanks to you. This really means something to me.
Are you a neurosurgeon yourself ? cause if yes is it possible for me to ask you a simple litle question that is very important to me?
Thank you for your video,my mother just had an aneurysm, the hemorragie covered 70% of her brain, she is been treated in a hospital in Brazil, it~s been almost 2 weeks, thank you God she is having a second chance at age 72,we don~t know the sequels yet.
Thank you for your video! God bless you and your work!
if i try to say something more than this i would end up with a book so all i have to say is that i pray and hope that some day nobody will die from this and they will be healed. God Bless!!!!! xoxo
hmm the worst headache of my life. cerebral aneurysm is the worst thing that can happenm to a person. it doesnt even care about gender, race, or sex. i am a victim of aneurysm and i thank the almighty God for giving me a second chance in life. 5 yrs ago, i had an open brain surgery due to an aneurysm in my brain (yes brain).
The clip isn´t in the artery, it is in the neck of the aneurysm. It works like a notch to avoid the blood enter the aneurysm. It is left there by lifetime
My mom had a total of 6 aneursyms- 1 ruptured and was clipped successfully..during that surgery another one was found and clipped. The surgeon then found 4 more on the right side of her brain and successfully clipped all four - (one being near the aschemic nerve) and she is completely fine!!
It´s ok. The labels are in spanish because this videa was recorded for students of Medicine. The cranial base is in the top. THis is the intraoperative and microscopic view ot the cerebral arteries and optic nerve, and of course the aneurysm. In a near future i´ll post the same video but with english labels.
Thank u for the comment and take the time to view it.
Thank you so much

So do you think I can go do that Resonance Magnetic test without being afraid that that my clip could move?

That is correct. After this surgery you must do periodical test to comfirm new ones, regrow, or like many times, everything is ok.

Thank you for your videos. They are really interesting. I am always amazed by the brilliant work that you surgeons do.
Is that clip left on the artery or do you remove it after some time?

wish my mum had had this done. the doctors said not to, as the risks were too great. They got it wrong. She was 50.

Sorry. A lot of people die due to the rupture of the aneurysm, or during the surgery. It´s very complicated.
