@Mig440 sometimes it can be pretty lame to do the same stuff over and over again, at least in games like Wow. However, in d2 the gameplay is different, and imo better.
I'll much rather do the same thing for hours in d2 than in wow, if you know what I mean. As long as the environments change and theres different npc's to fight i figure it is pretty entertaining. Simple yes, yet still entertaining ( in the diablo-hack-n-slash- kind of way).

Even though the skill tree seems a bit limited at first, I like the fact that only certain skills work best with certain classes. I thought that only having 3 characters to play as would be rather shallow, but it (mostly) works out in the end. I do feel, though, that the game could do with one more character; they should have brought back the necromancer, or a class with necro-like skills and weapons!
Torchlight is a great game, and an excellent tribute to the Diablo legacy. I'm a huge Diablo fanboy, and even I can accept the fact that this game definitely fits the bill. Hell, it might even do more for the Diablo name than Diablo 3 will. The developers were right in saying that it nails the formula PERFECTLY.
I got over the visual style in the first 5 minutes of play, and now I actually really like it. For 20 bucks, this game can't be beat.

Blizzard North made Diablo 1 & 2, NOT these guys. A few people who used to be a part of Blizzard North DID work on this game, which is why it looks so diablo-esque. Torchlight is NOT "made by the people who invented Diablo and Diablo 2". Also, it's worth noting that creating and producing a title are two different things. Toby Gard created Lara Croft for example, but I doubt he made the first Tomb Raider game by himself.

I found TQ a little underwhelming, they could have made the cities a little bigger. I mean, Athens had like 3 buildings in it for fucks sake.

Who cares?? If you were extremely antipating diablo 3 like i am, you'd buy it wouldn't you!? that's what this really is, a kind of filling gap until diablo 3 unearths from the ground! BE HAPPY THAT PEOPLE DO THIS! peopel didn't get bugged so much about clone games in the 80's why do we all care so much now! IT'S A GAAAAAAAAAAAAME, enjoy it dude :)

Very much worth it!
I have the game and it's a good casual game or hardcore if you so want.
It all depends on what you want. If you want online play, this will probably not be your kind of game, since it's only single-player.
However there will be an MMO set in the same universe as the SP in about 1½ year or so.

Even though the skill tree seems a bit limited at first, I like the fact that only certain skills work best with certain classes. I thought that only having 3 characters to play as would be rather shallow, but it (mostly) works out in the end. I do feel, though, that the game could do with one more character; they should have brought back the necromancer, or a class with necro-like skills and weapons!

That's were the modifiability of the game comes in. In fact there is already a mod designed to do exactly as you say: Creating a Necromancer Class.

Torchlight is a great game, and an excellent tribute to the Diablo legacy. I'm a huge Diablo fanboy, and even I can accept the fact that this game definitely fits the bill. Hell, it might even do more for the Diablo name than Diablo 3 will. The developers were right in saying that it nails the formula PERFECTLY.
I got over the visual style in the first 5 minutes of play, and now I actually really like it. For 20 bucks, this game can't be beat.

It's just the new game from the people that worked on the original D1 and D2. It's actually quite fun. I've played it myself and I find it very entertaining. Good game to be gaming while waiting for SC2 and D3 ;)
It's only 20 bucks anyway!

Sigh. Mythic made mythos. Mythic disbanded. The people who made Mythos joined to form a new company with the two people (The Schaefer bros) who co founded Blizzard North and co-created Diablo. Therefore this is the direct product of the creators of both Diablo and Mythos. You fail :)

Blizzard North made Diablo 1 & 2, NOT these guys. A few people who used to be a part of Blizzard North DID work on this game, which is why it looks so diablo-esque. Torchlight is NOT "made by the people who invented Diablo and Diablo 2". If anything, it's another mediocre ARPG made to feel like Diablo in order to cash in on the fans who are bored waiting for the release of Diablo 3.

Well the original minds of Diablo 1 & 2 , were Max and Erich Schaefer, so what you say doesn't hold water or is coherent, since you say that some of them did, but you do not say who actually made this game, heck.. you probably haven't tried it even.

It doesn't matter which members of Blizzard North worked on Torchlight. I was only saying that it was not "made by the people that made Diablo 1 and 2". In order for that to be correct, it must be made by the same team. A few people do not count for the entire team.
Stop being so defensive. I didn't make any attacks against the game itself. I've played chunks of it, and have enjoyed myself doing so. "Mediocre" doesn't mean "bad". It's just nothing amazing.

Yeah, sorry dude but this is wrong whether or not you like Torchlight. Max and Erich Schaefer founded Blizzard North and created Diablo, they then left to create Torchlight. Surely that means Torchlight is created by the same people who created Diablo 1 and 2? It's also a really good game which can be enjoyed any almost everyone, except perhaps the dyed-in-the-wool narrow minded Diablo fanatics who are afraid of change and feel protective of the Diablo brand without understanding its heritage.

Also, it's worth noting that creating and producing a title are two different things. Toby Gard created Lara Croft for example, but I doubt he made the first Tomb Raider game by himself.

If by Blizzard you mean Blizzard North then yes, but the actual people who made Diablo 2 left Blizzard and started up this company after their previous company Flagship Studios disbanded.
Max and Erich Schaefer were the original minds behind Diablo 2 and they've also made this game.
Hope that clears things up a bit.

its really annoying to see these comments on every gameplay of a hack n slash saying its a diablo rip off or diablo clone.... diablo 2 (in my opinoin) was the greatest hack n slash ever made so ofcourse theres going to be alot of clones because diablo wrote the description of a hack n slash so every company is going to make there hack n slash the same... theres not much room to do things different in a hack n slash
