  • I do believe this was my first exposure to counterpoint.

  • Love it!

  • WHEN I WAS A CHILD THIS WAS SO COOL AND NOW AS AN ADULT I AM PLEASED TO SAY THAT IT'S STILL COOL.

  • HOLY FUCKING SHIT. I FOUND IT.

  • This is a choir warm up.. In my Advanced Choir... Oh wow. xDD

  • Go die in a hole

  • Oh, the days when life was so much simpler. When all we had to do was sleep, eat, and watch Sesame Street.

  • Memories, man. Memories. I think I still hear this in my dreams sometimes.

  • adorable

  • Everyone who said they cried listening to this. ARE F**king Losers.

.........Who am I kidding. 0_o ...I love this song too!!!!

  • @kaleyley0829 You're a loser for for making fun of those of us who cried. Obviously you never learned anything from Sesame Street or Mr. Rodgers. They both taught us not to make fun of anyone else... :)

  • @Jennafu832 Fuck you you stupid BITCH/CUNT/JACKASS. Eat A Fried vagina...BITCH.......obviously you're in special ed cause you haven't LEARNED SHIT!!!!!! just kidin, you're right. I just think it's wierd to cry at this. but honestly, people get older and look down on kids and seseme street, but fail to practice the same ideals they learned from these shows. ideals like: don't lie, cheat, fight, etc... so you're right, I just defer from the whole crying thing.

  • I've seen a Spanish version of this on "Plaza Sesamo".

  • @tvtimetravel do you have it? and can you post it? i would like to see it! Sory about the last comment, i pressed the wrong button. Thanks

  • @bmsc208 Nope, afraid I don't. Lo siento! Besides, I didn't see your other comment. Did you delete it?

  • that was a canon actually.

  • Ha! I remember this one. It annoyed the crap out of me when I was little. Now at 23, I think it's more cute and slightly less annoying. Lol.

  • @nickj12 lolol :-D That's funny

  • What are the lyrics? All I know is 'follow follow', and 'to the redwood'

    :P

  • @candykitty305 Come (follow x6) me. Whither shall I (follow x3), whither shall I (follow x2) thee? (To the redwood x3) redwood tree!!

  • and THAT. was a round.

  • Why are there three "dislikes" for this video? I am trying to picture the scenario where some Simon Cowell sort would happen upon this video, watch it, and mutter something like "Meh. Singing turtles...they should have just let Uncle Edward sleep." *dislike* Enjoy life, friends. This is a perfect moment of nostalgia.

  • Your description is incorrect. The nephews demonstrate the round to the banjo playing turtle folk singer.

  • When I was little, I always thought the turtles were birds at first glance. Must've been the beaks. I mean they almost look like birds from the front, right?

  • Comment removed

  • Ahhhhhhhhhh i remember this! I could sing it for ages! lol.

  • I'm freaked out right now, cause I was trying to find a jaguar sesame street clip today, and for some reason this song got stuck in my head for hours.

I was trying to remember where I heard it from. I was assuming Sesame st. I was just about to search for it here, but saw these familiar turtles with the 12345 song, and then it brought me to this other familiar looking one which is this one, then I was going to plan to search for that follow song after, guess there's no need now :P

  • I LOVE THIS SONG

  • i have been singing this song for 22 years. ♥

  • Actually the three nephews explain it to the uncle.

  • The deja-vu seeing those badly animated turtles is seriously tweaking with my head. It's like, barely half-formed memories from when I was like 4 and then seeing them again my brain's all WAIT WTF HAVE I SEEN THIS? Very confusing.

Also, damn those turtles sing well.

  • and that, was my childhood...

  • Wait a minute...turtles cant sing.

  • Yeah, and they can't eat pizza or practice Ninjitsu either! :)

  • touche!

  • @xpander2k they sure in hell can sing though

  • A banjo playing turtle folksinger demonstrates ... (more)

I love this! but you couldn't have got the description more wrong:

A banjo playing turtle folksinger demonstrates the concept of a round to his three nephews; It's the other way around...!

  • I remember this, but for some reason I thought the animals were green.

  • I thought they were green as well. It's strange how we all remember things as the years go by.

  • I think we're all thinking of the other song they did, "Green grow the rushes oh" - maybe they were green in that one? can't remember...

  • This was one of my favorite Sesame Street songs!

  • i used to sing this song haha

  • The illest round of all time! Little singing turtles rock!

  • This particular cartoon has never left my brain-- thanks for posting!

And Ermaco74: The piece is a small catch called "Come Follow Me" by a 17th century composer called John Hilton. And it's not always the "redwood" tree everyone's rushing off to.. it was originally the "gallows tree"! (yikes)

  • Wow My childhood memories is back

  • This must be some redwood tree! Anyone know the origins of this song?

  • Do you have a video of the other song that these turtles sang (the "Green Grow the Rushes Oh" song)?

  • Sure is! I remember this one well! Nice seeing (and hearing) it again! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  • this is fantastic!

  • To the redwood tree!! :D I used to love this when I was a kid. Thanks for uploading it wattamack4 x

  • thanks for uploading this!!! i loved it so much

  • What always bugged me about this is why didn't he join in on banjo halfway through the round if he was getting so into it at about 1:00? Whenever I feel the groove, I jump in. I just want to know why he didn't.

  • Out of respect for the children, who came to sing to him.

  • I love this segemt one of my faves

  • r these the same turtles as in Hey Diddle Diddle? here they're purple and there they're green

  • Nope. The person who animated Hey Diddle Diddle is a different animator.

  • @wattamack4 ...well thanx for sharing that because I thought it was the same turtle but they decided to go with a diff colour.... :-)

  • Oh man-I love this song-so beautiful-makes me think of those little turtles everytime I sing it

  • Vague resemblance in character design to the Schoolhouse Rock cartoons. Anyone know who did this? Tom Yohe, maybe?
