My only comment is that you could possibly use soft Mallets for the first section to give a smoother tone and contrast with the faster sections. That's how I do it, though I play a slightly different version and I'm nowhere near the standard you give here!

yes, i use xylophone mallets for this piece, i feel more comfort using this mallets because they help me when i go fast.
