  • The gays love you Obama.. Dont let them down

  • Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you meant it was important. I can pretty much bet you that Obama could care less about your issues. He just wants your vote. He will get around to you before the next election to shut you up and vote for him. By the way, its only a priority "to you" Obama could care less. He has enough to deal with without the fact that you are mental and your gender is all screwed up.

  • President Obama has a moral obligation to attend the march. Gay equality is an important issue that affect about 10 percent of all Americans. That's why it is a priority.

  • I'll be there. And I'll use my new Vlog! I was booted in Don't Ask Don't Tell.

  • Equality for all... so simple and yet still being fought for

  • Comment removed

  • I am going from California. This movement is legitimate and requires the support of everyone who values his/her human and American rights. We have already experienced the unprecedented action of being denied constitutional rights in California. If you think it cannot get worse, just wait and see what happens if we do not stand up now in demand of equal rights for all.

Enough of being thrown under the bus by promising politicians who win our vote.

    EQUALITY NOW!

  • Too much time, too much money, too little results.

To borrow a line from the right wing: Freedom isn't free! And indeed it is not.

We need to earn this freedom, we need to fight for this freedom. Policy and biding time are not successful strategies. Pandering to your opponents does not allow you to achieve the goals you entered into office to do.

Obama, It's time to accept this nation became divided the day George Bush publicly supported anti-choice protesters.

    Eleftheria i thanatos!

  • All I know is I'm tired of being used by politicians for my volunteerism, money, time and energy and thrown aside like a rag. They need to be held accountable for their actions. I will be on the Mall with my brothers and sisters and stand proud for what I believe in. Obama needs to be show that we're MAD AS HELL AND WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!

  • Will this be an Equality March or Stonewall II ? I think that Obama has until October to decide that.

  • A march makes sense. But congress will not be in session, other groups have already taken those dates and Obama may not even be in Washington. Why so little thought to maximizing the impact?

  • 5random1, I've actually seen on the web that Congress will be in session - can you clarify this for me?

  • Very good initiative !

    Gaygreetings from Belgium ♥♂♂,♀♀♥

  • Thu negra has let us down.

  • I will be there.

  • This is a great video -- very well done. The audio speaks volumes.

  • I will see you all in DC!!

  • Hoo-rah.

  • I will be there. History in our time. My fear is we get there and only a few hundred people actually show up :-o I've heard conflicting reports that other groups have reserved the Mall??? I'll check further, but count me in!

  • The permit has been secured forOctober

11th. I know not everyone agrees about the timing, but it's already in motion, so the best thing we can do is to come together and support what could turn out to be a truly amazing event.

  • It's not Washington we need to march on -- it's Alabama, Utah,Florida and Texas we need to march on.

  • Good GOD. This audio clip is just BIZARRE. He hems, he haws, he's hesitant, stuttering. How did we get so played by this? I feel so betrayed by the administration's latest DOMA defense. Using this audio clip, I suppose, is to get us angrier than we already are. It worked. Let's march. Again.

  • Maybe cause Obama goes "uhhh" in every sentence in every speech? It's a habit of his, so we can't really attribute his "uhs" for lies. However we certainly can compare his promises to his failures =3

  • This is going to be incredible.

I love the fist. It expresses the anger that I feel and the words of Obama are there to entice us to march...to make him back up those words. He is failing us right now.

  • Perhaps it's the American people themselves who have failed you. As we can see, Americans aren't too big on the concept of change or they want it served up quickly. Sometimes, that's simply not possible. It took us Blacks quite a long time to achieve change and we're still not completely there yet.

The heterosexual community may be willing to say they support gay rights in private, but they certainly fail to transform that sentiment when it comes to a vote on policies.

  • Good points. I strongly believe the president is stalling on gay issues, particularly 'don't ask, don't tell', which according to polls, the American people want to repeal.

Hope to see you in DC.

  • Sure he is, look at the reactions from some of parts of our nation. I don't envy the man, he's got multiple fires to put out, but give him time to implement some policies. But by all means, keep the pressure on him to do so as well. It's crazy, gays have been serving in the military for years and the arguments against it don't hold up to logic.

I may not make it to Washington, DC, but as a part of the hetero community, every one of you have my support and best wishes. I've got your back...

  • Yes we ALL can.

  • Great teaser video. Looks good. We're sharing this at the GCRM (Gay Civil Rights Movement) Media Center on Facebook. See my channel for more info. The GCRM Media Center is at facebook (dot) com (slash) GayRightsMedia

  • An incredibly ill-conceived piece this is. I agree with dawpat07. What is the "Black Power" fist plus rainbow about? How about a new visual versus something from 1966? And to hear those Obama words given what HIS D.O.J. has just filed at SCOTUS defending D.O.M.A. and repressing gays? We gotta do better than this!

  • The point of Obama's words, obviously given the fist statement "change doesn't come from Washington", is to highlight the fact that his actions have not matched his rhetoric. The fist doesn't belong to any race. Fists have long been held up as signs of strength. The rainbow is a well-known symbol of diversity and the Gay Civil Rights Movement. In essence, we stand strong for full LGBT civil rights. There's no need for new symbols.

  • Then get off your butt mickey2449 and get busy participating and providing guidance to the Gay movement rather than complaining.

  • I can't tell from this video or the website -- is this a legitimate, organized effort for a march sponsored by major GLBT organizations throughout the country, or just some guy in his basement who threw this video together and set up the web page in the hopes that the idea will catch on? Way too little info, even for an introductory video. Hope to see a whole lot more -- and soon -- to clarify this. It's a nice idea, in any event.

  • This is a grassroots movement with the support of many GLBT leaders such as Cleve Jones. But things are definitely being organized. The permit has been granted for the West Steps from 6 - 9 pm on Oct 11th and there will be other events/gatherings planned throughout the weekend. Hopefully, including a candlelight vigil at the Lincoln Memorial on the 10th. And more details should start coming soon including local leaders to help organize groups throughout the country and help get us all to DC.

  • oh, puhleeze louise! it's an astro-turf movement without any public meetings or known leaders beyond the usual big gay egos of cleve, torie and david mixner. the only grass you should talk about is what the leaders of the march are smoking.

  • aidsbikersf, I can understand that not everyone will agree about the march. I am wondering if you understand what it is to respect someone when sharing a differing opinion, and I would hope that you can see the wisdom in engaging in respectful dialog towards building on ideas rather than attitudes that lead to destruction. I'm sure you're probably a good person - but the tone of your comment makes it a little difficult to see that.

  • Aidsbiker: You obviously know little about social movements. It's all about visibility. Visibility moves public opinion and public opinion moves politicians, atleast in representative democracies.

  • Prove it, Mr. President. That's all we've ever asked.

  • All Gay men and women on YouTube should make this video their channel featured video .... and then march together for Equality for all Gays under law in Washington DC in October!

  • too bad this 23-second video contains no info about how to pay for getting to DC from the left coast. i'm also waaaay over any ad related to gay people that doesn't show any gay people. remember how NO ON 8 avoid using any gays in ads and videos? it was not a winning game plan.

  • Give them a chance, there will be more videos posted...I'm sure they are still in the process of planning and will post more info.

  • This is not a tv ad. It's just a quick clip that has been made to help promote the the march among the LGBT community. The name of the website is on the ad. Also, if you read the description you will see that there is a link to the site - where you can fill out your details for more info. Surely you're not expecting the march to organize transport for you? Go to JetBlue or something...you can pay with your credit card

  • i don't have a credit card, and if i did, i sure as hell wouldn't use it to travel to DC for a weekend of speeches from ineffectual gay leaders.

if you have the money to waste, enjoy the party in DC in october.

  • aidsbikersf, I've heard that this isn't a party but a demonstration and march to demand our equal civil rights in all 50 states.

  • "ineffectual gay leaders"? Do you think Harvey Milk was "ineffectual"? You really need to get a grip. Together we stand, divided we fall. Together we can make a difference it only takes one person to do that. Let it begin with you.

  • I'm going to try and take a road trip up there so I can march too!!!!

  • A march is just the beginning. No more WORDS and empty promises.

  • I'm only 13, and it may be hard, but I'm gonna really try to get myself and my moms to come! :D

  • i think this is something that we can shift towards creating a national or global day! I would really like to support this within Canada and gather support!

  • I'll definitely be doing everything in my power to get there.

  • I dont know about anyone else but I am going to work my ass off to get there.
