I will vote Libertarian for Congress, but I cannot and will not vote Bob Barr for President. He is the biggest flipflopper I can think of. Plus, refusing to attend Ron Paul's third party get-together only proves he's selfish. If he can't unite with other third parties, how can he unite the nation? Bob Barr is not a real Libertarian.
So you're going to tell me that every position you ever supported, every belief you ever held, has been set in stone since the day you were born? Most politicians try to sweep it under the rug when they change their minds, Barr stands up to his past mistakes.
I'll give you that. But they do come across like complete position reversals, and why he's changed his position doesn't really make sense to me. It's like he had some sort of major epiphany in life...
Switching modes a bit: Explain why he refused to attend 's Ron Paul's third party get-together then.
Well, those 3 parties and Ralph Nader all have very different stances on political issues.
While I don't think it was a smart move not to go to it, because it did piss off a lot of former Ron Paul supporters which does make up a large portion of Barr's camp, but I understand why he didn't show up.
Just as an example, Nader and Barr both have very different ideas, such as health care Nader supports single payer Barr supports privatization.
now what Bob Barr says is that getting up on stage with 3 other politicians and basically saying here's 4 people, pick anyone of them is kinda what's gotten us into this two party system. Here's two guys, pick one.
Now I would love to see Barr, or Baldwin President, Nader I would be glad for simply the fact of opening up the system, but I wouldn't really want McKinney as President.
Thanks for the response. I kind of get what you're saying. But what annoyed me about Barr's absense is that, as far as I can tell, he agreed to be there, and agreed on all the issues mentioned by Paul. I was never a Ron Paul supporter (I went from Kucinich to Mike Gravel to Nader), but I agree with his stance on the "revolution".
I've realized that I can never back a full Libertarian (though I noted why I won't back Barr in a previous comment.) I also disagree with most of Baldwin's platform.
Bob barr 2008! he is the only one who will save our nation, our income, and our liberties. I have convinced two other people and will convince as many as possible.
Libertarians across the country need to use this angle.
So many people vote based on party, personality, gender, or race. That's being a puppet. Its one thing to follow a sports team because you're a fan, but to be a fan of a party or a personality in politics is just stupid.
