  • Always wondered exactly how the bunk house was attached to the house. Sometimes I thought it was attached to the barn and other times to the house.

  • the tv series was shot at 2 studios WB and Paramount. and the lake scenes were real. they shot the next generation partly here..when did this museum close?

  • QUE SERIES TAN LINDAS, NO COMO LAS DE AHORA.

  • Visited the ranch 21 Mars 1999, hard snow , lots of pictures, 6X7 camera

  • I love the video. Wonderful. I'm excited really. Going there is the dream of my life. To know, to walk where they walked these great, dear and unforgettable actors, this great family Cartwright those who brought them forever in the heart. Never lose hope. I'm from Argentina ... is difficult but not impossible to get to go someday.

  • my heaven

  • Bonanza was Really Filmed at this Place ?

  • @Roadracer987654321 From what I understand, they shot a few sequences there in the last years of production. The TV movies were all shot there.

  • @Roadracer987654321

No it was not filmed there. I understand the 'Return of the Cartwrights' was filmed there in 1983. It was a built attraction and sadly no longer open for tourists. The opening sequence of the Cartwrights on horses in front of Lake Tahoe is the only real 'Bonanza' filming done in the Lake Tahoe area.

  • CURSE FINDAGRAVE4ALL ETERNITY.AMEN!BUNCH OF FAGS JIM AJ RUSS KATRINA TANYA N REST Who run it.DIE IN LONG PAIN SCUM.AMEN!

  • I live near the ranch and it is still in tact and was hear when they filmed the three movies cause i am a huge bonanza fan and the guy who bought it is no more some .com guy who wants to bring back the ranch and add to it cause they have been redoing the landscaping around the ranch so somehting is afoot ! a lot of people were pissed when it closed

  • u r so lucky, I would've loved to see the ponderosa ranch house...

  • anybody has known Richard Blocker, uncle of dan( Hoss) ? his funeral was today

    in Herenthout, Belgiulm, europe

  • I went there in 2002 and loved it. I hadn't heard the place had been closed until recently. From what I've read, 15 episodes of the original series were actually filmed there, in the later years.

  • I keep imagining the guy knocking on the door.. Even when it was still there, there was "Nobody home!". Isn't it kinda weird that they "killed off" little Joe (on the grave marker) at the age of 47? I mean even back then, that was still kinda young! It would help if I'd seen the film I guess.. The show YES, just not the movie..

  • Its still there .. you can see it on google earth

  • the place should be left alone and keep it as a land mark.. what a shame..

  • yes that's were it is in Incline the ranch is back yard sorta speak I live up here near the ranch and the guy who owns it now wants to reopen it but better and bigger ,just 4 weeks ago i drove by it and they were doing some hard core landscaping to it ! so thats a good sign and besides when it closed the owners were getting up in age and when it closed it caused an up cry with visitors and locals alike like me ! so nothing was done it has remained untouched since it closed ! it's an land mark!

  • Wow, I love the show.

  • Excellent.

  • OMG I'd love to live there. I could just picture myself at that big dinner table with Hoss, Adam, Little Joe and Pa.....Hop Sing would be rattleing pots and pans....then serve us up a big Ponderosa Breakfast of bacon, ham, eggs, fried potatos, good strong coffee ....then a hand rolled cigar afterwards.......oh..umm sorry.....i got a little carried away...but I guess you get the point

  • @inkey2

What if Little Joe rolled up a doobie and lit it up?

  • @alwaysopen __ya know....little joe (michael Landon) was a cool dude...and if he wants to light up a doobie after a good dinner or breakfast....that would be just fine with me. I would be smoking a hand made cuban cigar after a good Ponderosa meal.....little joe passing around a joint to Hop Sing and Pa....Hoss shoveling huge wedges of home made apple pie down his gullet. HEY...on another subject....if you want to see how Michael Landon got his start...look on youtube....I was a teenage werewolf

  • @inkey2

I had to LOL at your reply. Passing it around to Hop Sing and Pa while Hoss(Eric) shovels another pie down his gullet. I wonder what skirt in San Francisco Adam would be chasing around.

And yep, I saw Teenage Werewolf way back in the old days.

Cuban stogies are cool as well. My pa always liked Te Amo or Punch and left my bro and I too many - is that possible? - several years back.

  • I think that every fan of Bonanza deserves to go here. It's a shame that it closed down.

  • With the show aired three times a day,15 times a week, on tvland, it was foolish to close this place down.Wouldnt be suprised if its torn down now.

  • It's supposedly all still there. You can find it on Google Earth. While their "official" web site says there are currently no plans to reopen the site, the Washo Co. NV planning board lists an expanded theme park with a themed resort hotel as part of its development goals. You can find a link to the map by searching "Ponderosa Ranch" on Wiki.

  • Well, I had and blew my chance to see it back in 2002,when I visited san francisco.I take it that it is near lake tahoe,as shown on the tv show?

  • Yes. It's in a town called Lake Incline, NV which is near Virginia City. It's on land that actually was part of the Ponderosa in the famous map from the TV show.

  • well said sir ive never herd of bonanza before than now its one of my favorite show put it on record while im at work n watch it when i get home every day just a great show

  • I was there in 1998. Best place to bring the whole family. Its a shame they closed it in 2005.

  • One of the very best American classics right up there with Baseball and Apple pie!

  • how many rooms were upstairs and is their a layout/floorplan for the house?

  • Believe it or not, there were no rooms upstairs at the real ranch house. The stairs led to nowhere. Poor planning on Adam's part I guess. They actually shot all the upstair shots at a studio.

  • @BonanzaDude553 : You are absolutely correct. There was no upstairs. I was there in December of 1996. I was completely surprised when I went "upstairs" to see the second floor......there was none !!!!

  • I wish I could go there. Why did they close it?

  • Sold it to a developer who I believe in planning to build homes there. Too bad it could not have been sved.

  • @BonanzaDude553 thanks for the info--how many times we do hear about greedy prop developers cashing in--and ruining a place of shrine to the bonanza -western lovers/fans--these tv props and locations should be govt/state protected--we dont want the mgm experience -sold of to gamblers of las vegas

  • Where is it or where was it???????

  • It is closed now, but was located at Incline Village, Nevada, which is located on the northeast shore of Lake Tahoe. It closed in 2005.

  • I worked there for 1992 to 1998....great place and the owners are the greatest people around...the founder, Bill Anderson died June 4, 2008, and is missed dearly. I hope you all got to visit and enjoy the ol' west at its best

  • man i wish it was still open...id do anything to go there

  • it is a shame that they closed it down. Went when I was 8 and I want to go back again... Oh well.

  • You all mean the house has been torn down, it's gone? I had no idea until today that there have been 'conventions' 40th year etc. My husband and I love the show, have it on dvd, gosh how I'd love for us to go some day, maybe the 60th anniversay. Great show, great actors, wonderful memories.

  • where is that?

  • Halloween there was the best! They had this huge patch of pumpkins and a bunch of games to win prizes. Aww, I miss it.

  • OMG! The Ponderosa Ranch!! I used to go there as a kid (my dad even got the part for the fire-dog and dressed up in that costume...I had no idea it was him!!)...but they closed down? I moved from there in 2003. Such a shame. It was so fun there. Good memories.

  • I visited it just a couple months before it closed. It's a shame they shut it down.

  • After being there like 35 years or so, they closed it down in 2005.

  • I want to go there!!! why is it no longer there?
