Nas.....what can be said about this track except that it is absolutely brilliant. Sick beat, sick xylophone sample, sick upright bass line. The lyrics are some of the best story telling in any hip hop song that's ever been written. If I'm not mistaken, this is supposed to be a letter to a friend who is incarcerated. In the early 90's when this video and album came out the economy was worse, urban decay was at its peak, crime and the homicide rate was at its peak, institutionalized racism and racists stereotypes was completely in the open. Nas articulately tells a story regarding these bleak issues
