  • What does a SF officer do? The same thing as an SF specialist or anything different?

  • I'm doing SF IN the USAF reserves. I ship off to bmt in july

  • Career wise after im done with my 4 years will security forces help me to start a career in lets say Highway Patrol?

  • Hey, just wondering do they allow you to carry off-duty I know that you dont get to keep your issued firearm but do they allow you to buy your own and carry it off-duty?

  • How do you make sure you don't become PRP?

  • I cant wait to get into Security Forces... I should be getting my physical in about 1 month hopefully but my recruiter has been slacking

  • how long are your shifts?

  • Thanks for the vid, it helped me out on deciding SF or LE

  • @toddrm2009 LE is a part of Security Forces. You do not choose your area to go to. Once you get your orders to your base it will depend what their mission is. You could do LE or you can do flight line or whatever. Even be a missile cop.

  • Your the type of guy I would like to be partnered up with during a patrol lol, always with a positive attitude. Keep up the videos brotha!

  • Thanks for the Video man!!

  • @That2Kool4SkoolGuy Sir you are a credit to the force. I am a 10 year veteran who served during the Cold War as a Security Police member. Spent half that time in SAC under PRP and the other half in Korea under Special Duty. If you're not already a member, check out the various AP/SP/SF sites on Facebook. Glad to have you as a brother in arms!

  • @That2Kool4Skoo;Guy Sir you are a credit to the force! I served from 1982 to 1992 in the Security Police and spent about 5 years on PRP in the states at SAC bases and 5 years in Korea. I'd have to say it was the best time of my life. Proud to have you as a brother in arms!

  • Do you get to chooses to be PRP or NON-PRP?? I really would not want the PRP

  • How are things looking for someone with a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice if they join as a commissioned officer? This sounds like an exciting field to be in.

  • good video man, im still debating on joining or not, but if i do im going SF.

is there any way to have an interesting job that you dont get deployed in a lot? my brother in law is enlisted and he said that SF get deployed every 6 months for 6 months. i wont mind being deployed once in 4 years but im planning on getting married before i join and wont want to leave my family behind all the time so is there any interesting job that you dont get deployed a lot in? and can you choose your job as sf?

  • Hey thanks for making this video, I'm going to basics feb 14 and this is my job, I've heard some negative things about it, a lot of what you mentioned so it kinda bummed me out but know I see there is a lot of opportunity in it so thanks again for making this!

  • the best way to transfer is to go to a headquarters unit and submit for a position! YOU WORK FOR ADVANCEMENT

  • FIRST OF ALL; I was SF and I became an Instructor; it may start off as a shack job~ but guess what- RAWK ON BECAUSE LATER you can train for anything else you want- YOU ARE IMPORTANT AND F THEM!

  • im with u man im not in the air force yet but is there anything u can tell me to get prepared for basic i was talking to my recrut and the job i said i want to r tacp eod pjs and sf i qualify for all of them can u tell me what do u think about theses jobs if so hit me up on facebook connor walter

  • What unique uniform items do they have

  • What's the pay like?

  • First off, you look like Lupe Fiasco... just had to get that out there.. second, I appreciate your enthusiasm for the job. Thank you trying to help explain to people the many different avenues available to SF troops. I was lucky enough to be stationed at a Special Operations base straight out of tech school and was fortunate to see that side of the Air Force. So good job at explaining in minor detail how people shouldn't underestimate SF. Thanks/

  • @TheSmalltownZombie no problem i just got tired of hearing nothing but negative stuff everywhere...and ahhh you are lucky, hopefully after i hit Sra i can try and get over to one of those bases

  • The carreer field has always been or had its ups and downs. You get what you put into it and the brotherhood is very strong. I know I was one of the old guard (Security Police). I was in Vietnam and not many knew of what we did or our sacrifices. Keep the faith brother we who came before you are proud and honored to have you as one of us.

  • @EMT302001 thank you sir, im proud to be one

  • Very well said brother. You were 100% on point about the complainers. The ones with the lack of motivation are the ones that complain the most. There are quite a few training opportunities and depoyment opportunities out there. I wear my beret with pride.

  • What are some bases that have est available?

  • What are the convoy opps like for SF's?

  • I was thinking about trying to enlist in the Air Force as a security officer and i was wondering if the job training was difficult enough where you can be kicked out or have to drop out of the training.

  • I was a b bay ranger though

  • Infantry hahahahahahaaaa hahaha someone lied to you.

  • And i can talk i was sf for 6 yrs no bonus!!!

  • Nah security forces was bullshit i was in area 2 in vegas guarding nukes sleeping all day. Its bullshit. ur in tech school u dont even know i was prp it sucked. If i sneezed i was profiled. Security clearence all that. U sound like u in sat flight or sommin. U will see homie

  • @easternblackman ok well thanks for your opinion on SF based off of your experience...but once again its what u make out of it, so excuse me for being pro SF and letting people konw its not as bad as people like you make it seem...and your speaking from a PRP standpoint, we are in 2 totally different worlds...

  • @That2Kool4SkoolGuy he said sleeping while guarding nukes...wow...how safe is that? lol. Im in the air force but im a medic. but i will say security forces is one of the only jobs that is still military in my opinion. They actually punish people the old fashioned way..from what ive seen at the bases ive been to.

  • in SF before starting your shift do you have to go to an armory or something to get your weapons

  • As a two year af sf member I can say, its mostly hype. You will learn a lot and have a blast at tech school but after that, you might as well be past the prime of fun times in your career. It becomes a job like any other

  • I'm in the process of joining the Air Force and I'm dying to get SF. The job drop was this past Tuesday and I have yet to get a call from my recruiter letting me know if I booked a job. I'm really hoping that I get SF. It's killing me not knowing what and if I booked.

  • thinking about joining SF as an officer since i have my degree. what does a day usually consist of for these guys compared to enlisted? thanks.

  • I'm on a search and rescue team for Civil Air patrol. I want to know if you go to any specialty school such as Army Ranger and EST. What happens after you finish. Do you more training or more deployments or get to work with rangers. I am curious

  • @DylanRussell32 Im not an expert, but Im about to join the army and I know a little about ranger school. From what Ive heard the only "real" rangers are infantry at the 75th ranger reg. If an air force guy goes to ranger school hes not considered a ranger. Its just a leader ship course, and you would get a tab for your uniform thats it. So pretty much if your not going to the 75th its just a leadership thing.

  • Do you know anybody into engineering or a technician in the USAF and what they do and is it easy for them.

  • Hey I am in the process now for joining the Air Force and you mentioned military working dog training. Do you know much about this and how likely it is for someone to apply for, or get in? My top goal would be CCT or Pararescue, but the SF would be my third choice. Any advice? Thanks for the vids, they help a ton!

  • When you finish the 4 years of SF, do I get my criminal justice degree and 17 college credits? Please help Godbless

  • @benjyy121 i dont think you do. you get college credit but thats it. what people dont realize once youre in the military you should apply for vet status. when local governments hire new firefighter/police officers they got right to the top of the list

  • @domenicd123 Because on their web site it says''School location: Lackland AFB [TX]

    Length of course: 65 days

    College degree earned: Criminal Justice

College credits earned: 17'' So Do I get a criminal justice degree?

  • @benjyy121 i think its just 17 credits towards a criminal justice degree

  • @domenicd123 Oh okay thanks. I know my minimum duty service time is 4 years. How do I get out of it after the 4 years?

  • @benjyy121 you sign a either a 4 or 6 year contract after your inital enlistment you have to be inactive reserve for either 4 or 2 more years. inactive reserve means that you are just there as backup for the military. if they go into another war and need you they reserve the right to bring you back untill your 8 years are up

  • i wanted to do security forces and it wasnt even on the list my recruiter gave me. i was offered a lot of mechanical and engineering jobs. i mean i wanna work for the military but im not about to take a paycut from what i make now to do the same job in the military for THOUSANDS less

  • Hey bro so I've been decisive between the navy and air forces I'm not sure which one but. What other jobs are there in the air force

  • hey man im in the process of joining the air force now and im gonna try and go sf. is it hard to get into?

  • @timmyp1223 nope not really

  • @timmyp1223 hahaha Probably the easiest. One most demanded jobs in AF. Personally I'd go with a different job, but the barres are bad ass.

  • You'll end up being miserable in Security Forces. Don't do it!

  • @sargonious this guy smh...your opinion is appreciated

  • It still sucks!! LOL!! JK

  • are you going to volunteer for a deployment?

  • @SmittyMane69 i have a deployment coming up

  • @That2Kool4SkoolGuy ride on good luck man stay safe

  • So If I were an SF officer and wanted to switch into another branch of the airforce like engineering, how would I do that?

  • @MASTEROFMUPPETS01 you would have to crosstrain...as far as the whole proces of crosstraining im not sure how that goes

  • @That2Kool4SkoolGuy Thanks! Much appreciated.

  • so is there a certain kind of sf that is only for on base stateside and one that goes on deployments to places like afghanistan or korea?

  • I was thinkin bout goin in after highschool but dont kno if i should do this ir become a crewchief. what do you thimk?

  • @proclub77 Umm deff. Crewchief.

  • SF school is the most fun school that the Air Force has to offer because they teach you how to be a cop, "SWAT" (clearing buildings, rescuing hostages, that type of stuff), and infitry all in one school that lasts four months. Like @That2Kool4SkoolGuy said if you have anything bad to say don't put it hear because this video he made is just for people interested in the career field. Security Forces is like a brotherhood. You meet lots of people at the school that you will still talk to. SF HUA.

  • What happens after you go to those schools? Is it just like a resume thing, and for self accomplishment? Or after you go to those schools you can use it somehow?

  • Do you have to go to airborne school as sf or is it optional?

  • @weapons4ever98 no, i didnt really specify in this video but airbore, ranger, raven, you have to be at certain bases in order to do those things...any SF memeber isnt able to just jump up and be like hey i wanna go to this school...you have to be at a certain base like, 820th at moody, or mildenhall i believe...for raven its just any AMC base

  • @That2Kool4SkoolGuy thanks, because i am deathly afraid of heights(between u and me) lol. I would like to get over my fears though.

  • @That2Kool4SkoolGuy hey, is it true, its 12-14hour work?

  • @sengoku17 yes it is 12-14 hour shifts...dont be afraid of them they arent as bad as they sound

  • @That2Kool4SkoolGuy is it alot of stress? i mean, how long are the deployments?6 months max? My cousin wants to serve security forces and serve i think "out the wire," is what you call it? but yeah he wants to do combat

  • @weapons4ever98 You are lucky to be selected after applying to go airborne. It is optional

  • why did you go SF rather than TACP?

  • where do security forces mainly get deployed too?

  • Been there, and done that with all you said on this video,...stay strong brother and screw all them haters that hate, on some of the things ya said,....you are not a counselor/advisor, or recruiter,...but you obviouslly speak the truth,...

  • Alright this is gonna sound insanely stupid, what is the other job, not PRP the other one?

  • @USAFCodyFife lol im not even sure if theres a name for it..we just called it non PRP lol...but pretty much law enforcement/security

  • Im hoping for SF, i put it as my number one job, and im looking to do something With being a Phoenix Raven, isn't it like 18 14 hour days, correct me if im wrong, also if you know how hard that course is

  • @RShomiexyz1 for ravens? or regular SF? and the course involes ALOT of PT, from what theyve told me its really just the PT thats the hardest part..

  • Well, if I ever get SF as a AFSC, I just hope that my contract is for prp, so I can have some time to go to school. I heard SF members doesn't really have that much free time and work 12 hour shifts, is that true?

  • @mistergrin i work 12-13 hour shifts overnight..they really arent as bad as you think they would be...and i have plenty of time, i even have time to go to school if i wanted to...not a full load of classes but i could take a class or two if i wanted to

  • @That2Kool4SkoolGuy Thanks for answering my question.

  • im enlisted in usmc sf and my contract is for prp. but what i hear is you dont have a choice and u get screened for it. so basically does that mean i might not be prp

  • @dieseltruks11 yea its all a possibility...they dont pull you aside in basic or anything and be like "this is a screening for PRP" you just find out when you get your orders..i dont konw how exactly the select you originally, its all just random

  • @That2Kool4SkoolGuy cant tell ya how much i appreciate your help

  • Do you guys get to go to a range often?

  • Can I specifically request not to be on PRP?

  • @USAFCodyFife not really...when you get your orders youll find out if your PRP or not...i dont konw how the original selection process goes for it...but there are ways out of it

  • @That2Kool4SkoolGuy Also, I feel like maybe this is relevant? I live in cheyenne wyoming, home of F.E. Warren AFB we have missiles, if I sign up for active would I perhaps have less of a chance of being PRP? Isn't PRP basically just for missile bases? And also, if I require different medicine wouldn't that disqualify me from PRP since your only allowed specific meds? I will do ANYTHING to avoid PRP lol

  • @USAFCodyFife i mean yea you could have less of a chance...or if you went reserve or guard theyd probobly just have you as the law enforcement side instead of out there with the missles..cuz ive never heard of a reservist being PRP...but active duty its gonna b like 50/50 chance...and yea depending on what type of meds they are they could dq you from it

  • @That2Kool4SkoolGuy Man I feel like I'm bothering you but at the same time I know your just here to help us who are enlisting, so if I'm DQ'ed from PRP would I be DQ'ed from non PRP as well or no? And also, if I do get assigned to PRP could I eventually be put into non PRP? Thanks for everything man, your a huge help!

  • @USAFCodyFife lol naw your good...and no if your dq'd from prp then you just become a regular SF memeber (regular sf member=non prp) and yea if you do become prp and want to get out, most people i know that got out of their prp base after a few years just volunteered for a short tour like to go to korea or turkey and then got their base of preference after

  • you are wrong about all prp having alot of free time. if you're missile field. most sf that work in the missile field stay in the field for 4 days a week and are on base for 5 days a week...keep in mind 2 of those on base days are spent training or getting borrowed to do other peoples jobs..in the missile field u r away from home 4 days a week and off 3 days a week then back to the field. you will spend 180 days a year away from home. and sf does suck its not infantry and the cool shit is rare

  • @captainashby well 1 i never said "all" of PRP and 2.im not PRP as i stated but thanks for giving insight into the PRP side...but as far as sf sucking..its personal preference you may not like it and hate everything about it, but it is what you make of it...and the cool shit must not be too rare cuz in the amount if time ive been in ive come across plenty of SF members who got to do "cool shit"

  • First of all, I like to thank you for your service. Second of all, I have two close buddies in SF, one station in Whiteman AFB doing PRP and one just graduated BMT just 3 days ago and going into tech school. My question is how do you qualify for Emergency Service Team (EST)? I know that not all base have a EST.

  • you said you can apply to raven, counter sniper and what not. Whats the process for going about that? Do you have to get cleared? when after bmt can you apply for that?

  • I was looking forward to joining the USAF as security forces but i was looking forward to acting as a cop or police k-9 unit and not so much as infantry so once your security forces is this a choice or is it like random choice pretty much like can you explain a little of the process of becoming a PRP i believe thats what you called it

  • @flashbejerkin cop/k9 is what youll be doing majority of the time....everything else is extra...iono if i replied to this or not already i think i did lol

  • HAHa Hey johnson!

  • @HXCORNERSTONE lol who am i speaking with?

  • So if you complete Ranger School as a security forces guy, what does that mean? Are you a Ranger? Do you deploy with Rangers??

  • @USNSCDavis yea you get your tab, but you dont wear it on you ABU's though...and yea depending on your deployment you could...theres only certain bases that will send you to ranger school and those bases are usually the ones that do more of the highspeed shit

  • Comment removed

  • @That2Kool4SkoolGuy The ranger tab means your are ranger qualified thats all the tab does not even mean you are a real army ranger. to be a real army ranger you have to be enlisted in the army and go to RASP Ranger Assement and Selection Program after you complete that you get a ranger scroll which means you are part of the 75th ranger regiment you be assigned to 1st bat 2nd bat or 3rd bat the people who get the scroll are part of the militarys special ops along with the green berets, navy seals

  • @That2Kool4SkoolGuy ignore mranklebreakas response thats my other account i accidentally comented with that one

  • Hi I am 15 years old and I'm already pretty sure I'm going to go into security forces I was wondering what extra opportunities such as airborne school, sniper school, etc. are the best for security forces

  • Thanks for the info! really helpful is there something i can do to get a better chance of getting deployed when i enlist?

  • @dlugamer when you get to your first duty station..just tell them you wanna deploy asap..n theyll take it from there lol

  • Sorry if its been asked but which do you think is safer? PRP or the other one? and which one is more fun in your opinion

  • @RetroJaysFTW i prefer non prp cuz i can deploy and do more stuff...but if your lookin to not deploy or stay at home more cuz you have a family or if ur more interested in doing alot of college courses while your in then id say PRP..but non prp=more fun opportunities in my opinion

  • @bigheartoldsoul where are you from? I'm from PA

  • You've made me feel way better. A lot of people put me down for picking this job but it was my choice! I leave Jan 17! I'm excited!

  • Great video. Flying out on January 30 for my BMT. Going in as Financial. But I heard the same thing that SF was the most boring job too. But every job counts, hope you make the best of it possible. Do upload more videos of your progress, I fairly enjoy sitting down and watching Air Man progress trough their career.

  • thanks for these videos. I'm joining the AF...soon and am thinking about security forces. and this helped a lot. how do you get into doing all those other things once you have your job.? is it hard to like......to learn those other jobs while your doing whatever job they tell you to do?

  • I don't want prp so do I have a choice in it or is it up to the air force?

  • @bfeezy1218 its up to the air force...u have a LITTLE bit of say so in it though

  • Hey check out this Donnel Rawlings' stand up. There's a part where he talks about his experience being a cop in the AF. It's a good laugh!

  • Can you volunteer to deploy in SF? Like to Iraq or Afghanistan.

  • Security forces also do smash and grabs with OSI when they get intel on a suspect hiding out in a house too. good video i'm glad you're sticking up for the job. I'm going to try and retrain into it, i've got my reasons for it. Anyone that wants to talk shit or dog me that's fine i don't care. I know what i want to do and i'm going to be proud to do it.

  • Comment removed

  • can you make a video of life in the air force? where you are, what your housings like, what promotions your getting/working on? what you do during free time, what your schedules like, etc?

  • @KYLE122112 yes i can..ill put it up sometime this week

  • Shipping out January 17th to lackland as security forces! Can't wait!

  • @bfeezy1218 Me too!!

  • How do you choose where you are stationed? And what are the chances of getting stationed overseas?

  • @jaszyj23 you don't necessarily get to choose..you fill out a dream sheet but that'll only get u so far..as security forces it depends on whether your prp or not and you won't find that out until you get your assignment...if you are prp then you only have a select few bases you can go to and only like 2 or 3 of them are overseas...if your not prp then there's a possibility of you getting overseas I've seen a lot of people go overseas

  • @jaszyj23 ...its all kinda random, so just put what you want in your dream sheet and hope they give it to you

  • i dont careeeee(sgt koons) lol props on letting people know whats the real deal is on security forces..team 3

  • how does the airborne training work? cause i definetly want to do that

  • @That2Kool4SkoolGuy So would you happen to know anything about the K9 unit?

  • @allmylove23 from what i was told you have to be a senior airman first (or a high speed a1c) and that you apply for it and kind of shadow them at the kennels and work your way up...and that they deploy ALOT..

  • @that2kool4skoolguy I see...another thing, lots of people say not to volunteer for anything during bmt, us that true, should one do it or not?

  • @chicatime4 i mean..if you volunteer in basic, it could go one of 2 ways..you could end up doing whatever task they needed a volunteer for and possibly get a 341 pulled for excellence, or they could just mess with you and have you doing random ass stuff or jus humiliate you...it doesnt hurt to volunteer and it doesnt hurt not to...but its best to just lay low unless its something you just really want to do

  • I'm going in for security forces and a lot of people are telling me i'm stupid for doing it. my cousin is in too and he told me its a bad job unless i get into osi. Do you know anything about how to get into that?

  • @allmylove23 from what i was told by one of my instructors i believe you have to be at least a staff sergeant first...so thats a ways down the road from now...

  • Thanks...ao PRP seems to be the biggest boring thing, how do I avoid that?

  • @chicatime4 cant really avoid it...if your qualified for it then your qualified...but i know alot of people get themselves dq'd from it just so they dont have to do it

  • Thanks for this one...and yes what's PRP?

  • @chicatime4 i added it to my video description

  • You really are the man. Btw what is PRP?

  • @beazel52694 And i meant to ask if you were going to try for any additionial schooling*

  • HEY THAT GUY WAS ME :D

  • Top Gun in the background!

  • @Pgeorgiex lol yea man...my favorite movie lol

  • how often are security forces deployed? i want a job in electronics, but you make SF sound like an interesting job.

  • @LordGlacius90 it depends on wether your PRP or not...PRP doesnt deploy for the most part...but if your non PRP for the most part its 6 months deployed 6 months at home...but i know some who have been operational for almost 2 years and havent deployed and some that have been operational for like 5 months and are already deploying so it varies...but not all deployments are to iraq/afghanistan if your concerned about being over there constantly
