Large scale AD is starting to rear its head on this continent. While being a source of clean renewable energy, it's also a fantastic solution to the problems of waste management & greenhouse gas emissions.
Yes waiting of the followup video, to see how safe the draw off is for fertilizer, ie.,. ecoli free! And a ruff guess on the amount of methane your system is producing, ie.,.enough to run a stove, to cook for a family every day?
Great Job! Couple of questions: Do you add water into the tanks? Or.. is water mixed with the food scraps that goes into the tanks? If so, what's the ideal ratio of water to the feed (food scraps)? Planning to build one myself.

Great stuff here! I love this idea and I really want to learn more. I have heard about you guys alot from Jack Spirko at The Survival Podcast. He has said a few times that he would love to have you on the show, please if you guys could stop by his website and try to get something worked out for an interview it would help a lot of people get a better idea of who you are and spread the word about this kind of setup. Thanks for doing what you are doing :)
I would like to see you guys protect your pvc from solar degredation if you paint or cover them you will slow their deteoriation. So when you get your hands on excessive exterior paint please paint all your PVC to make these items last longer. If at all possible you want to protect any plastic from the sun.
Here is a link:> watch?v=GQrr4KhP4Dc <called Bio-gas: Renewable Energy in the Himalaya by "GrassrootsIndia" It shows the construction of an underground domed biodigester to fuel the cooking needs of Indian Families. It keeps the family from traveling hours for fire wood and lessens the need to cut down trees. It is a very interesting video. This biodigester uses cow dung, which they have plenty of, and the methane is piped into the house to cook food.
I'm in awe of your guys' gung ho and all your projects.
I wonder though, despite this being very interesting and a use of free material, perhaps solar energy would make more sense. The downside to methane is that burning it releases CO2; fine on a small scale but not so on a large one. Solar hot water heaters are easy to come by in salvage yards or can even be DIY and work quite well and could be supplemented with photovoltaics for electric heat
Thanks for the video! I have been wanting to build one of these but found the cost of bulkhead seals cost prohibitive. Uniseals look to be the solution.
I love this guy. I really do love him

I'd like to see these digesters commercialised so that they could be used in many homes.

haha " One of the by products is methane" I love how you avoided the "f word"
This will change the world because we will start to perceive the "f word" to be a good thing.

I also wonder - since you make just as much CO2 as you do methane, is this really a sustainable process?
