Some general comments on this one: From the looks of 'em, it would seem like "Dale Hansen's Sports Special" and "Sports Extra" (on WFAA and KXAS respectively) were sorta like Texan versions of "George Michael's Sports Machine." Is that true?
Also, I really liked that "Today in WAVE Country" opening from 7/28/83. More life was in that one than there is with the morning opening here in Greenville, SC on Channel 4.
You have just blown my mind. Charlie Van Dyke doing VO work for a station other than Channel 12 in Phoenix? Explains why there was a female voicing their work for much of the mid-90s.
I knew the D/FW news opens in Part 6 came from the Internet Archive, but not the ones here. I tried searching for those and all I got were the ones in Part 6 as well as a couple of two late 80's WFAA opens.
@ASKconard I might be able to do one more small part... there's a WFLA open I found (from around 91... with Power News), but that's about it other than the WTVT open in part 1. I'll probably do a solely NYC part.
That one from WYFF 4 was, I strongly believe, from when that station was actually good (to me, "NewsCenter 4" was much better than what "WYFF News 4" is now).
How did you find these on the archives? I can find WYFF.

The WWLP video uses graphics almost identical to WTMJ during the late 80's. Ironically, years later, WGGB would adopt WTMJ's 2004 Renderon graphics.

@stevefoxtv I think that's some sort of syndicated package... WXEX (WRIC) used it too, along with a few other stations

@ntropolis KSL was the first one IDed with that look, circa 1989. Yeah, that's a syndicated package.

@stevefoxtv The music in the WWLP open was also used on WLOX and WEVU (WZVN; I think).

@dgendvil It is him. He actually graduated from South Carolina. He was their "chief" at WJLA.

@raymieX I guess they thought if they pay him enough to lure him away from 12, they'd have more viewers... obviously didn't work

That WVTV Milwaukee open has never been seen. Hope there might be some material from my favorite market, Tampa/St. Pete.
