This was my favourite song as a kid - the first piece I ever choreographed a tap routine to (when I was 7), and out of all the many routines I've done since, still probably one of the best! Guess that's what a great song does when it inspires you.
Sometimes we try to describe what a song means to us & its effect on us. Just sometimes a song is so well crafted that it stands alone & we just smile & know inside just what was written & why this is 1 of those
You are so right, I didnt think it was Betty and then I remember Jinx... What a beautiful woman. She last performed here in Jacksonville Fl 1974 in "Born Yesterday" in person. She looked so bad, and her voice was gone. Then after she left, We learned she was dying of cancer and was being treated the entire run of the show....Wow for the memories...
Love Neil's work. I was truly lucky several years to see him live in my town. I walked home in a daze, he was stunning. This is one of his best songs though.
Holy shit! This song has been lodged deep in my head for what must be 30 years or so? Every now and again I'd sing the refrain to myself and think how I should really get around to finding out more about it. Nobody I asked had a clue what I was on about. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT TOOK ME SO LONG to think about typing Betty Grable in to Youtube. There were hairs on the back of my neck people! How many can say that happens listening to Sedaka, lol??
fasssbinder and milsar, I love this song and listen to it over and over. I knew girl at 1:30 wasn't BG too. Tonight is the first time I read comments and I see the two of you noticed it also. We true BG fans remember her beautiful face. I didn't know it was JF. Again, I love this song. Coney Island was my favorite BG movie.
hola this messaje is for miltstar. The girl that appear like betty at 1,30,really is jinx falkenburg, starlet from columbia pictures, she play a litle role en covergirl with Rita Hayworth.Good by.
