Really, in my opinion, the best rendition of this song are (females) Sarah Brightman and Tarja Turunen. Best guy versions are the 2004 movie singer because he added a bit of edginess that none of the other phantoms had (a bit of roughness that I guess is more of a scream) and the other phantom that is awesome is the Japanese bariton/bass singer. This is great too, but nothing compares to those four singer's rendition of this song!

@moniequa Not necessarily true. Depends who speaks it. Taiwanese accented Mandarin sounds much much less palatable than the standard HK cantonese. Both languages are actually very singable and can sound great in song. Cantonese in particular sounds very good in choral music, it actually shares a lot of phonemes with germanic languages. Chinese is actually a better language for this song. I wish I knew how to pronounce it. I don't think that Zhu Hua is actually singing the high part though. But you can't blame her, it goes up to the third E above middle C, most people can't hit it.
