@konvict63 all maggie thatcher had to do with it was she tried to shut it down a bit later because of her brewery friends being pissed off. anyway who gave a fuck about politics anyway that was for the students who were listening to guitar shit as they always are when this was kicking off. London 1988-89 Spectrum, Trip, Rage, Clink Street, Future, Sunrise, Biology, Genesis, Slough Centre - just privileged to have been there.
To bad I was born too late. First technoparty for me was '93. Thankfully there was lots of acid/acidhouse influences those times, so love is unreversible.. =)
this is when music was great and nobody gave a fuck. you could go to a club with a tenner get pissed buy fags and a kebab and still have change and go home happy knowing you had a good time. what we got today ? we get ripped off to pay to get in the club we get ripped off in the club we get ripped off coming out the club and its full of arsholes who wanna fight after a few beers & the music today is fucking awful . give me the 80s anytime the youth today dont know what they missed.
I was so lucky being 16 in '88 just started college in london, and was workin for my uncle up Soho so was right in the middle of i for the 1st summer of love!!
So many magical times at Spectrum, shoom, KGB do's, limelight, Astoria, and the larger raves that followed in '89.
Viva the longest summer of love, which for some of us has never finished.
Just wish the kids now could experience what we did, there might not be so much shit happenin in this beautiful city called London
Gotta love these music documentaries where everything and everyone was absolutly estatic and history was being made everyone someone was moving their eyelids. Awesome track at 2:30 can you feel it ?
Energy, Sunrise, Shoom...... R.I.P - no scene since has come even close to the vibe that existed back in the summer of love. God - thank you for letting me be part of the whole experience.
@synergy365 yes completely agree to be young and live a few miles from the M25 in 1988/89 was about as good as it gets - maybe to be famous and be around London in the mid-late 60s was pretty good but you had to be famous this was a mass movement that everyone from 16-25 (and old if you wanted!) could be into.
And 1988 was even better than 1989 the best of the best because it was new to everyone and no-one was cynical or jaded.

In NYC, being a hot Graffiti artist meant being on any guest list for the top underground clubs. In fact, I can remember so many times when we just finished painting, would be around 2.30 in the AM, and we'd approach the bouncers, with quite a que looking at the painted lot of us, respirators hanging off our necks, they'd smile, lift the rope and we were IN. Now that was NYC in the 80's man.
Hi Schnikta, It's called - Let's get Brutal by Nitro Deluxe. It was released on Cutting Records in 1986, and then UK release was on Cooltempo Records in 1987. ; )
I used to listen to this type of music on 98.7 Kiss FM back in New York from 12am to 3am on Friday & Saturday Night back in the late 80's when I was in High School. That's when I first got involved in Techno Music, but without the drugs!!
