I started off playing guitar, and when playing guitar one "strums" the melody with the right hand and holds the chord with the left hand, so that guitarist mentality sneaks into my piano playing.

I'm trying to rid myself of the ghastly habit :P

Try playing the beginning electric guitar portion with the right hand with C to G to Am to F chords on the left hand. That's how I started the song.
