I think that he's commenting more on the fact that the majority of rebuplicans lead an unaffected life, not about their views. He's saying because they are (typically) wealthier, they have more power, and it's dangerous to give such lazy people who just want more and more power when everyone else is struggling.

So yeah, he has an opinion that may not appeal to you. Just like everyone. Why are you offended?

Why does Andrew Bird dislike republicans? I love his music, and even this song, but i consider myself to be part of both parties so i really don't dislike republicans. I'd just like to know specifically why he hates on one party. I find both good sides and bad sides of all parties.

Unfortunately, it is a rare individual that shares your opinion. A lot of people, older generations specifically, just stick with their party without considering the other side.

tylerdurden187 I share your sentiments. No party is perfect and, frankly, both of them are lacking. What about the other people in the other parties that would make good presidents too?? What about them?? Andrew seems to be into the environment. That could be the whole reason for the anti-republican feelings because many feel the republican party cares nothing for the environment.
