ı am historian: turks usually didnt refer to themselves as turks; they used their tribal names likes oghuz, peçenek, selçuk and else. the modern term TURK is an expression especially the lebantene italians invented and used for everything related to the islam. This was common up to founding of the turkish republic...

Dear historian, now we refer to ourselves as Turks and we call out land Turkiye :) Oguz, Pecenek Selcuk, all same now :).
