well IR is found in nature and almost any object emits Infrared waves, although the far waves are used to generate heat and they can burn you--as far as DNA damage I don't think so...but any short waves beyond the UV rays on the spectrum, can definely cause mutations. I'm not a scientist, just a physics fan ;)
