It seems that everyone who plays an instrument, including myself, cannot help but bob or sway to the music we are playing. It's kind of funny to watch others do it and remind ourselves that we do it, too. xD
Give them a break! It's the way they prefered to interpret it.... I like it! I have to ask the same question 80'schick did - Where have all you sexy musicians been hiding????
I agree, it's a little faster than I'm used to the minuetto being played but I think it suits the ensemble. Where the hell did all these sexy musicians come from?
im actually quite disappointed with the performance of this. it is played way to harshly and fast. mozart's 3rd movements were always peaceful and gentle. the 3/4 time signature and the fact that this is dance music has been takin into little or no consideration. they change tempo wildly each time they move to another phrase. loook at 1:20-1:30 and youll see what i mean.
@Llam4Face i don't think you can judge mozart's other pieces & say this should be peaceful & gentle. It's a minuet & trio. and it's characterized as a "bright" piece, particularly since it's in a major key. and it already contrasts the romanza's andante. a peaceful & gentle 3rd movement following a peaceful and sad 2nd movement doesn't seem characteristic of classical music.
i disagree with musicaltiger and beast. the piece is Menuetto Allegretto. the definition of allegretto is, fast but not as fast as allegro. therefore the piece is played just as it should be. also the "harshness" is intentional. Mozart wrote those parts to be Forte and Staccato.
yeah i noticed how fast it was too!!! they must be eager to get out of there...my quartet is playing this, and their speed makes us look really lethargic...even though we're right!!! grrrr...
they're especially fast on the "rondo"....it doesn't even sound good because they're going to fast!!!
I have heard this piece played in a slower tempo. Other versions are more at andante. It is allegretto, by Mozart. I tend to go with what the composer wrote, to include tempo annotation. I have compared it to a metronome.
First impression are a point, that does not include the origin. You like, what you like. It be it. Cool with me; I like it too.
I do not know about the, "sped up," either. The musicians body language(s) does not look sped up. I like it though. Does it agree with metronomic tempo? I am going with allegretto, which sounds close to this tempo, (variation between andante and allegro.), that is at issue. Subjectively, I am going by feel. The up-tempo lift.
Going by 'feel' doesnt sound natural for the piece, less opportunity for feel or accents. Analysing it several times, with and without sound, the body language does not look natural. It doesnt give the listener a good enough oppotunity to reflect on the sublime message that the master himself wanted to portray. It doesnt have that stomp or sublime expression, as though they just want to get it over and done with...
The piece was meant to portray a message, which appears simple on the outside but complex within. It gives me the impression of a lost childhood, frustration, as well as reflection. To appreciate that it has to be slower so it can sound more organic, hence more human.
I am presuming the slower cadence prompted the impression. A piece can be defined in different ways, by different people.
What emotes is subjective, and I fully agree with any interpretation, by anyone. That is how they perceive the piece to unfold. I imagine a lively evening.
In my opinion it was meant to be constant in its set of messages, considering it has been present in the space-time continuum since the beginning of the universe, mere mortal opinions aside, to speed it up like this is like genetic modification.
i can agree, with your perspective. Having heard this piece played, at varying tempo, I prefer this performance.
If you want to chat a round...Genetic mutation is necessary to adapt to modern times, NOT. The nay is you. Are you sure rubber bands will not be as good as catgut? How about mics? Oh, Oh, and distortion. I imagine you cringe.
If you agree with my perspective , this version would not be of preference. Nothing to do with type of strings, as tempo and attitude type makes or breaks. This tempo and aggression is not how mozart captured this piece, hence watering down its purity. To make it different to what the master intended is quite frankly a different version of it. If you prefer it then thats cool, but you cannot say it is 'the original' in terms of what Mozart wanted to portray.
Perspective is subjective. Initially, tempo annotation, (andante v. allegretto), was my assertion. I did ask your observation; metronome, and gathered to establish an objective statement. Do we agree on the masters directions on the sheet-music, pertaining to tempo? We are not debating an inharmonic. Is it andante, or allegetto?
It moves too quickly to appreciate the notes and what they speak, genetic mutation is not always necessary when something was perfect in the first place. I mean you cannot change the fact we are made of atoms or the laws of physics.
Genetic mutation is motion itself. The Laws of physics apply. Fact. I am not attempting to change elemental position, but assemble the basics. It sounds best, to you. Granted, acknowledged, and respected.
Again, the annotation states allegretto, Based on metronomic standards does the played piece agree with Mozart's directions, devoid of our enthusiasm?
we played this for festival :D we played this and movement 1. ORCHESTRA ALL THE WAY BABY if it wasnt for us band would b nothing muhahaha jk theyre awsome

Indeed too fast - the subtlety is getting lost. By playing that fast a piece of this charakter cannot show to advantage!

the rondo i feel is a bit sloppy but this allegretto feels very allegretto to me. i didn't check a metronome, but doesn't this feel appropriate?

@chosarang its got nothing to do with judging "mozart's" piece. its the way its performed, which is exaggerated in terms of dynamics and tempo.

i've never seen performers move as elegantly as they do..
this performance is very nice!
nen0324 3 years ago 22
@nen0324
hahha well its not about how they "move to this piece" but how they play it
and they overdozed the tempo a lot
nothing is more messed up than playing the wrong tempi ,
so this is a bad performance ... a menuett should be a tempo you can dance to
mozart would cry if he could hear how most orchestras destroy his works by playing it way to fast
only because the modern tonedeaf ppl think its skillfull to play everything fast and pretending to get this piece by "moving elegantly"
